These days good customer service is hard to find, so I don't really expect it, especially when having to make a refund/exchange so I was preparing myself for some drama. That was not the case here, upon entering we were greeted by the staff, a man and a woman both said hello and welcomed us in. The Gentleman, Jordan was his name saw the shoe box in my hand and asked how he could help. I explained I ordered the wrong size online and needed to exchange, he went to the back but they did not have the right size so he offered to find a pair online and he had them delivered to my house in four days. The whole encounter was so pleasant and his customer service skills were top notch! My review is about the online experience. I rated 2 stars instead of 1 because of the local store's support resolving the problem. So, onto my tale of a company actively working to reject new customers (I put a very brief summary at the bottom if you don't want all the detail). My teenage granddaughter gives me a pair of shoes on their site as her Christmas gift idea. She's on the other side of the country so online is the only way for me to get them to her. I step through the whole process, selecting the shoe, filling in her info, my info for the credit card, etc. and then when I try to complete the order I get an error directing me to customer service, no hint about the reason for the error. Cust service takes the entire order over the phone, her address, my address, credit card info....and order rejected, "I'm sorry sir your bank has rejected the charge". Strange because Bank Of America has always texted me immediately when a charge is rejected, with the "Is this you?" thing. I never received that. I called the bank, no, they not only didn't reject it, they never saw it. Back to cust service, a different rep again takes the order and gets the same result. Ok, let's use a different card. Same result. Normally I'd just move on to a different store but, teenage granddaughter/specific shoe/other side of the country/not many other gift ideas, so I ask for a sup. He asked if I'd ordered from them before. No, I hadn't. And with that he knew the issue immediately. They use a third party company to screen credit card charges and if you're a new customer trying to use a credit card online it automatically rejects the charge. It doesn't query the bank and, per the sup, there's no way to override it. "You'll have to go into a store". I did that, there's one not far from me, and that's where they earned back one star because the people in the store were very helpful and got it taken care of. To summarize: - Christmas season, lots of potential new customers - Online system actively rejects any new customers - 1st line cust service blames the bank for rejecting a charge - Not so, they never forward the charge to the bank, reject it in house. - Company message, "If you're not an existing customer, GO AWAY, but not until we waste your time and falsely blame your bank" read more

It feels like the story is always busy and packed which is a good thing there are variety and selection is wonderful the people that are working here are very friendly always willing to help I have purchased the converse here in different colors that I have not seen in other stores so I'd like to say their selection is above average. I've even had to order some pair and they were delivered quickly and the staff was very friendly when they called to tell me they were there. I was so annoyed when I came into this store and only because of my experience with the staff at Foot Locker 3 doors down today. But when I came in I was immediately greeted with a hello and a huge smile! My guys name started with a B (blake, blaine, bailey) I'm so sorry I can't remember his name but he was THE SWEETEST and MOST HELPFUL he got me into a super duper comfortable pair of New Balance sneaks that I walked out in and went straight to the gym in, they ROCKED no slip with my tiny socks (also bought today) and I felt like I was walking and running on clouds! I bought a pair of $60 vans for my 10 yo daughters dance recital. One show into the shoes and they ripped on the side by the top of the shoe near ankle. Tried returning them today and was told ' we're not takin those back! They have been worn and they are damaged!' Uh yes, this is why I'm trying to return them. I was refused a refund and told to contact corporate. I AM waiting to hear back from journeys HQ. I will NEVER shop at this store again! I can order from Amazon and return no hassle! I tried to return a Christmas present and he put me under scrutiny and asked me for more details, like who bought the present for me and then asked me when I bought them. Changing my own story to see if I was lying. After all of that I wasn't able to return them without a receipt. They do not put customers first. read more

Awesome customer service! My family visited here today while walking through the Tacoma Mall. We stopped in and were immediately greeted by Jacob. Jacob really sold us on our shoes. My wife found some Birkenstocks and I found some adidas sneakers I've been looking for about six months. Unfortunately my size was unavailable, but Jacob to the rescue! He informed me, no sweat,"we can ship em to your house." Boom, sold!!!! I bought a couple of items...when I called about returning one of the items, an employee assured me it would be no problem at all when I brought it in. I came in and was told there are no returns. After explaining that I was told returns are no problem when I called earlier that day, they accepted the return. They were so rude the whole time.
