Behind the checkout area was a (female) supervisor of some sort who was sorting boxes, and while that could have been for something important as well, perhaps getting customers who are trying to pay moving through the line would have been better??!! Check the DSW.com site before you pay because there may be a deal/promo code: I looked and there was a $15 off code with a $49+ purchase; I'll take the $15.00 (get a screenshot for easier checkout). On the good side, the clearance shoes have been well-organized each time I have been in (although there was nothing for me yesterday). The disappointing thing was that I had a difficult time finding the shoes I was looking for - black heels. This must be the most basic heel (except for a nude color?), but the selection was minimal because a HUGE part of the womens section was boots. Boots are great and it is December in New England, but they don't work with a suit at work, a wedding, etc. Sure you can order from the website, but you may need to order 5-10 pairs to find just the right one (and then schlep them all back to the store for a return). Lots of parking right out front, but so-so inside.

This new Famous Footwear sits in the Natick Mall on Route 9 in Natick, across from the food court and near the Sears entrance. The most convenient way to access it if you aren't in the mall already for other shopping is to park near Sears and cut through. What I find bizarre is how Famous Footwear is now opening in the mall, after they had a larger, more easily accessible location in the Sherwood Plaza around ten years ago, that closed just after opening. Regardless, this place seems like it is a good location also since every store does well at the Natick Mall! Staff at the store today were friendly, helpful and attentive to all of the new customers. Large variety and top stock. I can't say it's the largest Famous Footwear location I've been to, but then again I had no problem finding myself a sharp looking pair of shoes to accompany for the season. I am a huge sandal / slide person, but have discovered that even in the summer, having shoes is still necessary. This place opened right in the nick of time. Very new design used in this store, that actually I find effective. Benches throughout the entire middle of the store for any customers to try shoes on, and separate sides of the store for different types of footwear (dress shoes, sneakers, and of course, sandals). Good selection, good prices and super clean, organized store! Remember, the best secret is to park by Sears (the best parking lot to park in at any time...), cut through the store and enter the mall. It's the first store on the right. 5 stars.
