I am a patient of Dr. Curry, having had laparoscopic vertical sleeve gastrectomy in August 2015. As of today, I've lost and maintained 85lbs; I'd do it a hundred times over and I would highly recommend Dr. Curry & his fabulous team of APPs, dietitians, and ancillary staff. Plain and simple, surgical weight loss works if you use it as the tool it's designed for. Every procedure has inherent risks and patients who have surgical weight loss procedures typically have higher than average risks as compared to patients in the general population. The negative reviews should be considered while keeping this in mind; Dr Curry is a very skilled surgeon with an incredibly high volume of cases, so he will inevitably come across complex patients who will experience complications due to challenging anatomy, preexisting conditions, etc. I had fabulous success with my surgery and have had nothing but a wonderful experience with the entire Journeylite team! RD Erin is one of my favorite team members, always giving me great recipes and encouraging me on my journey. Once I hit my goal weight, my journey wasn't over: Dr Curry was there for me when I found myself dealing with a little bit of post-plastic surgery regain. He reminded me that once you're a patient, you're always a patient and helped me get rid of those pesky extra pounds. Anesthesia knocked my tooth out and then yelled at me about it. Waking up from surgery to someone shoving a clipboard in my Face trying to get me to spend more money was annoying too. Nursing care is non existent. My name is Heather Ritchie. Dr James Augusta removed my gallbladder in 2017. Ever since, I've had severe pain that even landed me in the hospital a few times. One of those visits, a colleague from Dr Augusta's office laughed as I laid there crying in pain wanting answers, telling me there was nothing they could do. 2 weeks ago (September 19, 2025) I surgery to remove the large "nub" he left that had become fused to my large intestine. I had sleeve surgery in March of 2023, with Dr. Augusta. I had looked at other options because I live in Columbus. For a lot of my appointments I went to their Grove City Office. They were very helpful and kept me on track going through my insurance. Journeylite was the best option for me for many reasons. At the large hospitals I felt like a number not a human. I also have a bit of white coat anxiety so I worried about being at the hospital overnight. The surgery center was lovely and relaxing which made the whole procedure better. My EGD was quick and easy and I have bounced back incredibly fast from my surgery. With the Preop diet and tithe first few weeks after my surgery I have lost a significant amount of weight. 2 separate times in less than a year, the scheduling staff made the mistake of scheduling me outside of my "window" for appointment time and I had to go off my medication due to state law for 6 months!!!!!! All I got was "Sorry, we messed up. There is nothing we can do though." If you take Adipex beware. Their staff is not trained well to help you maintain the correct schedule so you can receive your medication. read more

My lap band was placed in 2009, I lost weight and felt that follow up and care I received initially was adequate. Fast forward to 2022, I am having all kinds of symptoms that are concerning for lap band dysfunction. I called for an appointment and was told it would be $129 for the visit and band adjustment- they wanted a credit card right then. They also wanted a copy of my insurance card, even after I told them they weren't a covered practice and I have no out of network benefits for them. A couple days before my appointment a got a call stating that I had no insurance coverage (uh, yeah) and that the visit would be an additional $249; they further explained the $129 was for a "new patient program fee" since I hadn't been there in a while. No one ever communicated to me that I had to follow up periodically to prevent my bank account from being raped. My visit would also result in missing half a day's work and a 2 hour drive each way- which I was willing to do as I trusted this practice. It would appear that the goal here has changed. Rather than excellent patient care, the focus is lining their pockets. Fortunately for me, I found another practice willing to accept me as a patient. If you choose to use these providers, beware- ask lots of questions, get everything in writing. read more

Two years after surgery. Had peritonitis twice, chest tube twice, feeding tube in for so far one year. Haven't been able to eat anything my mouth for over a year due to leaks in my abdomen. Total stomach removal done at Cleveland Clinic. At least two more years of medical treatment in sight. Medical bills are at 2 million so far. read more

I have been going to Journey Lite since September, 2019. I was approved for surgery and had a date set for 4/27/20. Due to COVID surgery was cancelled. I went in today to get back on track so I can have my surgery. My original surgeon left the practice, the dr who did my EGD has left the practice. My appt was at 2:30 today. I wasn't called back until 3:11. Then, I sat in an exam room for another 30 minutes waiting for the dr. In comes the "office manager" who says because I am a nurse who's had contact with COVID patients they will not see me today and I have to schedule a virtual visit. It took them over an hour to say this even though I put it on my questionnaire as soon as I entered the office. They aren't even screening with temperatures. I've never had symptoms and always wear appropriate PPE at work. Also, I believe Journey Lite is more concerned with money as they make you purchase their brand of pre-op meal products. I will not be returning to Journey Lite for all of these reasons. read more

Dr Curry from Journey Lite performed weight loss surgery on my wife. During the procedure he accidentally cut or ruptured an artery or vein according to UC physicians. Long story short my wife spent 7 days in the hospital. 3 in the ICU where she nearly died and accumulated an additional $90,000 in bills (which is not covered by insurance). Weeks later at a requested meeting with Dr Curry he was neither apologetic or remorseful. In my opinion, Dr Curry is a vain jerk with questionable skills to justify vainity.I have much stronger opinions but will leave it at that. read more

My mother had surgery from Dr. Curry two years, TWO years ago and has been on a feeding tube since because he cut her esophagus which then caused a leak, peritonitis twice and stomach removal this year. This facility practices unethical business practices. I was told the total cost for a lap band fill is $300. When I arrived they asked for my money immediately. The Dr. made an excuse as to why he could not complete the procedure and I was refused any of my money back. I worked hard to save $300.00 and was very hurt to be mistreated and cheated out of services that was not rendered. Please do not waste your money or trust this facility. They are driven by money and do not care about the patient. read more

Run as fast as you can.......I started the process with Journeylite for Gastric Sleeve Surgery in April of 2019...what a mistake. I have never have had so much bad information, poor communication with medical staff. You can never actually speak with someone, leave a message and HOPEFULLY a week later they return your call and most likely the person you need to speak with, no longer works there. If you ask a question, you will get 5 different answers from 5 different people. The staff is untrained and confused at all times. You also better have your wallet OPEN, I never had a medical practice make me cut a check for me to meet my annual out of pocket, normally you pay deductible up front and billed the other 20% until you meet max out of pocket..not these clowns. They also want a deposit, thats fine, BUT REFUND IT AFTER THE SURGERY has been performed and 100% claims have been paid. It appears no one in the office has any idea whats going on, and when you ask questions, stupid answers follows. If I was not too far in the process, I would have collected my medical records and went to UC Health or somewhere else, the place is disorganized mess, run as fast as you can. read more

I only had a brief meeting with the dr. who I thought was fine but I was really impressed by the dietition (not so much that I remember her name though!) Dr. Udlehofen did my sleeve surgery in October 2018. I was extremely pleased with him and the surgery. Everything went smoothly. I had no complications and I am 6+ months out with still absolutely no complications. I am very pleased with the office as well. I highly recommend Dr. Udelhofen and Journeylite!! read more
