I got box braids on 10/27 for an upcoming trip to Jamaica. I was able to get an appointment that matched my schedule with very good pricing. On the day of my appointment, she did a good job and was fast. She was very friendly and I was satisfied. When I took my braids out on Sunday, my natural hair was very tangled and seemed to be twisted. It was very hard to detangle and a lot of my hair fell out. I am aware that there is shedding but this was not normal. I had braids earlier this year and did not have the same experience. Seriously! This 'business' is a joke. I regretfully write this review as I was EXTREMELY dissapointed with the services I received from Destiny. The people from yelp have failed me. I contacted Destiny days prior to confirm appointment. I arrived on time at 10 am. However, the 'business' is not what I expected. "Journey Braids" is being operated in a nasty and disgusting section 8 apartment out of Long Beach. Im serious. As soon as i walked in, the was a foul odor with yucky, and unclean carpet with stains everywhere. There was no furniture with TOYS EVERYWHERE! OMG! What on God's green earth was even thinking? I told myself multiple times to just calm down and I kept 'Yelp Reviews' in the back of my mind to keep me there. She started right on time and was pleasant. Thats about the only positive thing I have. She was done almost 7 hours later and i was so distastefully displeased. The parts were soooooo uneven and crooked. It looked like a 5 year old with 1 hand and 3 fingers did my extensions. All of my friends and family laughed at me. As I'm writing this review, Im getting upset. So I'm logging off. EDIT: 10/25/2014 After many weeks of getting my so called hair braided from this FAKE business, I decided to write more after I cooled off (or so I thought). Please take a look at the so called'braids' that she had the audacity to charge me $100 for. I'm still upset the fact that the people of yelp have sincerely disappointed me. But then again, I still stand by my statement that these must be reviews by her friends or family because there's no way that this girl even went to school for hair. I went to Destiny to get Marley twists for the first time and I am absolutely in LOVE. I have rocked box braids, Senegalese twists, and imitation dreads and have to say that these Marley twists are by far my favorite! I wanted to try something new and I found Destiny on Yelp and I'm so glad I made that initial appointment. I have a silkier grade of hair so as much as I love wearing braids/twists as a protective style, they never last long in my hair because they easily slip out so I always felt like in the end I was wasting my money.
