Wang Vision - No longer bent glasses

Traveling on the road is rewarding but challenging. Many times the challenge comes down to "what…read morehappens when things don't go as planned". It's story time: Unbeknownst to me my glasses fell off the nightstand at the hotel during the night. This morning when I got out of bed I heard a CRUUUNCH and realized that I stepped on my glasses and they are bent and broken. You can imagine my panic. I took the broken frames and lens and went looking for an optometrist. The first place I ran to, that was recommended by the hotel front desk, was closed, (this is the third recommendation by the same front desk person that utterly SUCKED, but I digress), and I realized the lens is now missing! So I ran back to the hotel, found the lens (yes!) and looked for another spot. I found one on yelp (5 stars), close to the hotel, and ran there. In the meantime I called the other person working with me, to give her a heads up that I may miss the first meeting today trying to fix the problem. The lab was in this run down building, non-descript entrance, down the hall on a confusing second floor. I entered, still panicked, and showed them what happened. "Let me see what I can do" was the response (with a big disarming smile behind the mask). And with that I handed over my bent frames, lens and all. Long story short; we struck a conversation (he wants to retire in San Diego) and about 15 minutes later the frames were fixed "not perfect but that's the best I can do!" was what Yong, the optometrist said. I couldn't thank him enough! I really couldn't thank them enough for saving the day. I'm thinking of going back to buy a spare set of glasses to give them some of my business. If you're ever in downtown Boston and need good optometrist work please go to Wang Vision at 65 Harrison Ave, Unit 206, Boston. They'll take good care of you!

Great doctor but terrible experienced with their service…read more August 17. First time visited got my eye exam . I also told them I won't be back until sept 9. Sept: after three weeks .i received a call/voice message said I can pick up my glasses. My girlfriend was nearby so I told her to pick up for me. She Went there and the lady said no glasses. Next 2 week me and my girlfriend was near Chinatown. We both went up to the doctor and still didn't have my glasses. I know it was my fault not to call first but come on after 2 week. Total time of 2 months lol. Finally Next few day they call led me and left message . Of course I'm call and confirm ask them stupid question if the glasses are physical holding in their hand. Otherwise I would not go there. Took me 2 months and 3 visit to get my glasses lol . I know maybe this was an odd day.

But, when I arrived at the office and it was closed, I was less impressed, When I called the office, they told me "Yes, we're closed because Dr. Zhu's house did not have power". It would have been nice if they had called or emailed me rather than confirming the appointment just 30 minutes before I arrived. After excusing myself from work to make this appointment and walking through a slushy city, I was not very happy with the fact that the place was closed. Update: I appreciate the response from Dr. Zhu. However, you said that 'we never confirmed the appointment'. The agreement that you have with your booking company (ZocDoc) says that all appointments available on the on-line system are available (they called me to explain this). And here is the text that I received on my phone confirming the appointment: 'ZocDoc appt reminder: 3:30 PM Today Dr. Xinsheng Zhu 65 Harrison Aven, Suite 403, Boston (617) 426-1726' To me, this looks an awful lot like a confirmation.

I have had no previous service from these people but they kindly gave me the tools I needed to resolve a potentially serious issue with these contacts and my eyes. So, I just wanted to thank them for their thoughtfulness and compassion in assisting me. I offered some compensation to Gee (I think) and she poltely declined. I would definitely use this office in the future, if I had/have any need at all! Thank you all once again!

Dr. Curtis was great as always and the staff at the new place was just as wonderful. I purchased a pair of eyeglasses after the appointment which was the first time I did that in a long time (thanks Liz!). I usually just get my eye exam and contacts fitting at one place and purchase my glasses elsewhere (due to a lack of options I like) and order lenses online (cheaper). I also tried Warby Parker for a few years. However, Dr. Curtis' new location has a great selection of glasses. I got a pair of Tom Ford eyeglasses and when I came back to have the glasses fitted I ended up buying a pair of prescription sunnies (my first time buying prescription sunnies!). I was initially going to purchase my own sunnies from Bloomies and have the lenses replaced with prescription lenses but the Broad Street store had such a great selection that I ended up picking a pair of sunnies from there (thanks Liz!). The staff was patient and helpful in helping me figure out what was best for me. They were not pushy and were wonderful! I'm happy with my purchases and grateful for the wonderful customer service.

Or actually for the fortune patrons who solicite this establishment. I came in to get a pair of non gas station sunglasses that didn't disintegrate after two uses. Literally I've had glasses spew screws and fall off my face while driving and infinitely more tragically while watching the third and final Hobbit installment in theaters. (Rest in peace Kili, your sacrifice will not be forgotten!!) Anyway the point is I obviously don't like spending a lot of money on my eyewear. However the styles and service at this place had me willing and ready to change my ways and risk it all. The result?! Got some slick behind sunglasses and can't nobody tell me nothing. And these bad boys gone stay on my face, whether I'm scooting down 90 head bopping to Michelle Branch or getting misty eyed over Annie Lennox's Into the west as I salivate over a literary masterpiece. I suggest you get over here and get on my level.

I took them back to a different store (seaport) where they advised me that the lens were too large and knew exactly the issues I was having with the near vision. They suggested a smaller lens and frame which I swapped in to. Much happier now. I am writing this to alert those with progressives that you may want to ASK about the lens size as I wasn't given this advice by the associate and optitrician at the Newbury store and ended up with a frame that wasn't good for progressive lens wearers.
