Steak Diane. Absolutely delicious!!

We had a party of 6 and everyone LOVED their meals (tortellini, trout, pepper steak, beef bourguignon, lobster bisque and steak Diane). I didn't get a pic of everyone's meal, only mine. But it was absolutely delicious! Joseph's never disappoints!

We made our reservation for Joseph's very last minute. We were definitely not prepared and were very limited with choices due to Covid limitations at all of the restaurants in the area. I was trying to find something a bit more casual because I was traveling with kids and we had just spent the day out hiking. I'm very happy to say we were all very happy with our decision to eat here. Although we showed up at 8:15 pm, with 3 kids and none of us looking our best we were warmly greeted. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and they have partitions set up between all of the tables. All of the guests have their own little private areas. Service was excellent and attentive. Food was fresh and delicious. Dessert was yummy. Although the name suggests otherwise, this is not an overly fancy restaurant and I'm very glad we went. We will definitely return when we're in the area again (and return better dressed).

If you live in Colorado Springs or you're visiting and looking for a perfect dining out, then you must go to this restaurant! It's definitely the best service, food and ambiance I've experienced since relocating here five years ago! Joseph, the owner came to say hello and to tell us that the swordfish was the special, delicious and flown in today. (We went on 3/23/2023). I asked him if he was the owner and he said yes. His brother, (I don't remember his name) served us. Impeccable grace, and service. I asked if he was his brother, because he kind of looked like Joseph and he said yes. He was thoroughly experienced and knowledgeable of the menu, which is quite extensive and unusual. It definitely has an Italian flare. Entrées prices were reasonable but I think the appetizer are an expensive side ($20+), but the quality is probably outstanding and would justify the price. I forgot to take a picture of the menu. Because we had gone to "Lumin8" first for drinks and appetizers, we didn't have appetizers at Joseph's. I have one of the best martinis I've had since I've been in Colorado Springs. The absolute best martini I have had so far is at McKenzie's Chophouse. this is definitely the next best if not equal, my date had the old fashion both were poured stronger than most places and very tasty. I don't know what the prices on the alcohol were but I remember they were in the same range is everybody else about $14. Those are the specialty drinks. I don't know what my martini cost but I got Hendrix gin, so probably about the same price. We were served fresh homemade rolls, or very good quality if not, homemade with whipped butter, and they were outstanding. He got the swordfish and it was outstanding. I got the surf and turf, which is ribeye and grilled shrimp. mine came with bacon, wrapped asparagus. It was amazing and grilled potatoes. He had grilled potatoes and vegetables with his. My steak was so delicious. I don't even know what vegetables he had. I was too busy enjoying every single bite of my entrée. I tried his swordfish and it was really good as well. This was definitely the best steak I've had since I've been in Colorado Springs, and I've been to MANY of the "high-end"restaurants. My steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The ambiance is romantic. The decorations are a bit outdated but charming, and work with the style of the restaurant. Instead of dessert, we had cocktail drinks. I had a brandy and he had Drambuie. Our bill was at $240! I would definitely go back for the entrées and skip the cocktails. probably I probably would have one glass of red wine with my steak if I got the same thing again. Which I would because it's that good. Although there's many other dishes, I would like to try. They have unique things on the menu, which is really a nice change from other restaurants. I think the prices were on the cocktails were a bit high. But no complaints on this "fine dining" delicious restaurant!

You enter through a phone booth and walk downstairs into an Alice in Wonderland restaurant…read more Excellent entrance. Usually when I follow my wife underground, we're looking for parking. This time there were cocktails and a coherent artistic vision. They really commit to the theme, and it looks fantastic. For a moment, I forgot there was an entire normal city upstairs where people were renewing vehicle registrations. We made a reservation about an hour beforehand and got in without trouble. I believe it was a Wednesday afternoon, and it wasn't particularly packed. Plenty of room to enjoy the atmosphere without feeling like we were being processed through Wonderland. Started with the bread, which was perfectly crisp. Then the skirt steak appetizer, which had great flavor. Could've happily kept eating that, but we had other business to attend to. Specifically, gourmet mac and cheese. An unusual entrée choice for a themed date, perhaps, but apparently you can lead a grown man into a subterranean fantasy world and he'll still ask where they keep the noodles. It was excellent. My wife and I both wanted more afterward. The White Rabbit cocktail was excellent too. Toasted marshmallow on top. A tiny campfire snack hovering over my drink while I sit underground eating fancy macaroni. Whoever planned this afternoon understands my needs better than I do. Highly recommend for the entrance, the atmosphere, the food, and especially that cocktail. Walk downstairs. Let The Rabbit do it's little thing.

Since it was so late we ended up grabbing some of the truffle fries and the cheese balls to snack on as we had a couple drinks. The fries had to be the best truffle fries I've had as all of them were extra crispy and had the right amount of truffle oil and salt throughout. Very consistent in the flavor and texture. Cheese balls weren't as expected with the arugula and cable slaw on the side vs what we though would be incorporated into the cheese ball. Started with the pumpkin extravaganza which was tasty although not sure how potent. Next up was the espresso martini which was also tasty and despite not having espresso in it, had that coffee flavor as anticipated. The entry is amazing and they have several cozy seating areas. Service was a bit hit and miss as they were quite busy. My friend got the White Rabbit, flaming marshmallow and the other friend got the apple pie martini. Both enjoyed and I'd come back to try their main entrees by snagging an earlier reservation.

I ordered the salmon, and my date had a small ribeye with a side of mashed potatoes. Both meals were very good, but our waiter completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. Our waiter appeared to be nearly 100 years old and moved and behaved as though he were. His service was painfully slow, and by the time our meals arrived, the food was barely lukewarm. My date's place setting was missing a fork, and after nearly five minutes of unsuccessfully trying to get someone's attention, he finally took one from a nearby table. I later informed our waiter so the next guest wouldn't encounter the same problem. He simply shrugged and carried on, seemingly unconcerned. Despite the restaurant not appearing particularly busy, our waiter seemed determined to rush us through our dinner. He knew it was our first date, yet he gave us little opportunity to settle in and enjoy getting acquainted during those first ten minutes. When we asked about the evening's specials, he mentioned just one and then promptly told us he wouldn't recommend it. From beginning to end, his attitude created an unpleasant atmosphere. What should have been a wonderful dinner and a memorable first date became a frustrating experience. Frankly, I would have had more fun at Outback Steakhouse. As delicious as the food was, I could have prepared something comparable at home. When I dine out, especially at an upscale restaurant, I'm paying for more than the meal. I want to enjoy the atmosphere, the company, and the pleasure of being properly waited on while someone else takes care of refilling drinks, clearing dishes, and making the evening enjoyable. Unfortunately, the level of service we received was more comparable to Golden Corral than to a high-end steakhouse. At these prices, excellent service should be part of the experience, not an afterthought. Great food cannot compensate for terrible service. For that reason, The Famous Steak House is not somewhere I would choose to visit again.

We came in very casual clothing (nothing even remotely fancy) and were not treated any different than those who came in suits. Every employee, even those outside of our server, were very willing to help even if just overhearing one of us mention a problem. Our server, Josh, was so good at anticipating exactly what we needed and had great reccomendations to improve our experience, and was very respectful. The food was lovely as well, I ordered the ribeye and it was very tender (cut through like butter), flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My drink was a mocktail mule, a reccomendation from our server, and it was GREAT. For dessert I got a strawberry mousse and it was so delicious I found myself using my fork to scrape out every last bit of it from the cup. The prices here are quite high: for a bill of 4 drinks (malbec wine and mocktail mule), 2 appetizers (popovers and fried goat cheese- a great combo), 2 steaks (ribeye and filet mignon), and 2 desserts (Yuzu black sesame cake and strawberry mousse), ended up as a bill of about $250 before tip, but it was definitely worth it. This isnt the kind of place id say you go every week, more of a place for a special occasion, so the prices feel a bit more rational, and the atmosphere definitely makes it clear this place is fancy.
