I recently had a new patient visit and cleaning at Hartford Dental Associates and was very…read moreimpressed. My appointment started on time, a huge plus from the beginning. Everyone was very friendly and conversational. First, Heidi (Dental Assistant) took all of my x-rays and photographs of my teeth; she was very thorough. Next, I had my exam with Dr. Berry, who was also friendly, and I could tell he likes to joke around, which was nice, given a lot of people are anxious during dental appointments. I had a few questions, which he answered and explained next steps. Lastly, Brittnae (Registered Dental Hygienist) did my cleaning. She measured all of my periodontal pockets -- something I've never had done before, so I was highly impressed by the level of attention and care they give their patients. Brittnae explained everything she was doing and answered all of my questions. Most importantly, she was very gentle on my teeth and gums during the cleaning. The office takes all COVID safety precautions, which was such a relief. Everyone wears a mask (surgical or N95 or both), and I noticed HEPA filters throughout the office. In addition, the office is completely digital (no paper!) and very modern. Overall, I have had a very positive new patient visit and am looking forward to my next cleaning. Highly recommend!

Office is very clean. I also had a tooth extraction, bone graft dental implant last week by Dr. Kang. He was excellent. I was very nervous about the procedure, but he explained everything in simple detail (so that I could understand what he was talking about.) He expressed concern for my comfort throughout the procedure and checked frequently to make sure I was not feeling any pain. Highly recommend this practice.

Goldstein and Waterman who are no longer affiliated with the practice. But, at my last visit, I was disappointed by the lack of standard of dental care I received. First, the hygienist, Laurie, who wasn't the one I had made an appointment with, kept me waiting 15 minutes. After she cleaned my teeth, she didn't polish or floss them; nor did she ask me if I wanted a fluoride treatment, which I usually get. Then, a dentist, Dr. Zhang, unfamiliar to me, briefly looked at my teeth and told me I needed "overlays" on a few of my bottom teeth which have been slightly chipped for years. Dr. Zhang did not visually and physically check my face, neck, lips, tongue and throat for any abnormal lumps, red or white patches, or sores. She did not ask me to bite down to evaluate tooth alignment and check for temporomandibular joint disorder or teeth grinding or check the depth of spaces between my teeth and gums to screen for gingivitis or periodontitis. When I asked about my regular dentist, Dr. Wateman, Dr. Zhang told me he no longer worked there. Due to the lack of standard of dental care provided by Newington Family Dental Practice and recent turnover rate of personnel, I would not recommend this practice.

They were very busy but it did not seem like they were rushing anyone. I was taken a little bit past my appointment time due to an emergency. I understood completely. It's good to know that, should the situation arise, I would be given that same consideration. The care was superb, gentle, and painless. Everything was explained before anything was done. I was put at ease and reassured every step of the way. They made clear all the instructions and required follow-up procedures. They were not satisfied until I was. You know, it's a dentist, and no one looks forward to going to the dentist, but this experience was one that removed all anxiety and apprehension from the equation. I can now go to my next appointments smiling going in and of course, going out. It was a totally great experience from making the appointment, the treatment, and to the goodbyes walking out the door.

I also feel more rested in the morning and need less sleep probably because I'm getting more oxygen at night. Added bonus of the mouth guard is that it prevents tooth damage that can be caused by grinding. The dentist was polite, friendly, conservative and confident in his diagnosis. We were disappointed in his periodontist referrals. An employee came up to me in the waiting room to do x rays before I had seen the dentist for him to make a recommendation for x rays and when I had already sent them x rays. The office is large and impersonal. You have to go through the office manager to ask questions to the dentist and don't know if emails go directly to him. I get scared, and there have been times I have left in the middle of an appointment (as in literally walked out mid procedure) because no one was respecting my mouth of the pain I was in. Elite Dental is NOT a place I would ever feel scared or worried. First of all, they take state insurance, which most places don't. I'm very happy with that. Secondly, everyone is friendly and nice. (Alexia is a wonderful receptionist. She is honestly a peach and a half. You rock). Everyone there makes you feel comfortable. Third, I was not in pain. AT ALL. not for a moment. Dr. James Nguyen is a friendly, professional dentist who cares to make sure you leave with happy, healthy teeth. The last time I was at a dentist was some place in Avon 2 years ago. They had claimed I had 14 cavities and wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for fillings. I did not have money so I wasn't going about to do that. Columbia Dental had also tried telling me I had cavities too and places like those, were trying to get money out of me any way they could. Saying I need a deep cleaning and other things (I swear to god I have really decent teeth. I do not have that many cavities.) Turns out, there are such things as microcavities: beginning, superficial stages of tooth decay that may/may not turn into an actual cavity. They do NOT necessarily need to be filled because if you take care of them, your teeth can get better and remineralize from fluoride. But once you drill and fill a tooth, the damage is done. You will probably have to get it refilled down the line. The point is I only had 1 cavity. I know this because Dr. Nguyen showed me it. This place is not after money. They really are just wonderful, honest people. You don't have to be in pain for a dentist to be doing a good job. I know he cleaned my teeth, and I promise there was not a second I felt pain. Even when he filled my cavity. I did not have novacaine, I did not need to be numbed. It was quick, he was precise, and it was over in a matter of minutes. I am so grateful. I love this place. I love the dentist. THANK YOU.

I had a root canal years ago at a different dentist office and my cap had falling off less than a year of getting it. After being so discouraged I chose to ignore going to the dentist and just been dealing with my dead tooth that was left from the root canal. I recently had to go to the emergency room because it became infected and the pain was unbearable!!!. I went to the emergency room on a Sunday evening for pain management and they said I needed to get to a dentist asap to get this issue taken care of asap. After calling a bunch of dentists offices I had came across elite dental and they got me in the very next day with no hesitation!!!I was in and out less than 30 minutes and I had nothing but a wonderful experience with both the dentist assistant and the dr himself , front end staff was very pleasant too.
