I deserve to be refunded, period. - This was my first visit to Southern Roots, and while I had high hopes based on the stylist's reviews, my experience unfortunately didn't go as expected. When I left the appointment, my hair had been curled, which can easily mask issues with color or placement. It wasn't until I straightened it two days later that I saw the actual results, and it was clear that the outcome didn't match the inspo photos I shared or the conversation we had beforehand. I reached out right away with photos, and while the stylist responded kindly and offered to fix it, I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable with another appointment. I was then told the salon doesn't offer refunds, and instead, the owner, who I did not book with would be the one to do the correction. As a first-time client, this doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel comfortable going back, and I don't believe I should have to. I am not asking for anything beyond a fair resolution, and a refund would allow me to go elsewhere and have the issue addressed by someone of my choosing. Out of respect, I won't name the stylist - I don't believe this policy is hers, and I know she's done great work for many others. But I do think the salon's refund policy and how this situation was handled deserve to be shared. I'm including photos (the inspo pictures and my result) so others can make their own judgment. I always prefer to handle these things privately, but I also believe in transparency, especially when your first experience as a client leaves you feeling dismissed.

As a self-proclaimed tomboy, I'm always nervous to work with a new stylist out of fear that I'm going to end up with a hard-to-maintain and style super complicated 'do. However, Katie styled my hair in a way that made me feel more feminine than ever without feeling like I was getting ready for prom. The cut and color both looked and felt so natural and I have never before felt so stylish and pretty! One thing that I TRULY appreciate about her is the fact that she LISTENS. I wear my hair in a ponytail every single day for work and too many stylists have ignored me when I said this. In the past I would too frequently end up with a cut so short that I had this tiny little ridiculous ponytail and hair falling all over the place (including in to my eyes). Katie cut my hair to the perfect length where it looked healthier and fuller but still left a great looking ponytail! (And on her first try, at that!) Most importantly (to me, anyway) is that Katie really took the time to teach me how to work with my hair and new 'do. I never used to spend a lot of time on it but now I look forward to going out so that I can work to replicate what she did when she styled it. The location can easily be missed so make sure you are using a gps and keep an eye out. The place is small but roomy and clean. The stylists provide a relaxing and fun atmosphere as I instantly felt comfortable. They accept walk-ins or you can make an appointment.
