In the past, I've bought several suits shirts pants here. My wife went in there to find a shirt to match my Joseph a bank sportcoat. I am heading to a wedding for a family member. Not only were they unhelpful they let her walk around without any offer of assistance. In a day where a person can shop anywhere. I chose this store.. I would definitely recommend personnel changes as the people they have there now are more concerned with their personal conversation than assisting a customer. read more

The rented garment (tuxedo) actually went ok but I found the "service" was pretty lousy. I call the service at this place to be of the Tarzan style in nature - on a par with McDonald's lots of multi-tasking. An example is you go try on the tux - come out and the sales person who you were dealing with - they are now working with a different customer on the other side of the store. One sales woman was in the middle of taking my measurements - she says in front of me to another sales woman: "Can you take him? I have to go" as if leaving her shift - going home for the day. But then I watched the same woman do it again to another customer. I have never seen this before. I feel they are cavalier and unprofessional. But luckily it all worked out - the tuxedo itself was a success. I want to mention that some of the people were helpful and rose to the occaision. read more

I haven't had the need to buy much business attire lately but with a business trip coming up and everyone seeing the two jackets I own that actually fit for the past couple of years, I figured it was time for an update. I went on a Friday evening and the gentleman who helped was great. He immediately measured me rather than guessing at sizes and I think that's a great start. I was able to find a couple of jackets I liked along with some trousers. They didn't have one of the pants I liked in stock in my size, so he ordered it to come to the store. The only disappointing thing was that there wasn't a sale going on. I was hoping the Friday before Easter there might be something, but no luck. The jackets and pants I got needed some slight alterations, so I'll be back next week to pick everything up and try it on. I'm not anticipating any issues but I'll update if anything changes. I'll also note that is was quite busy and the two people working there were able to manage all the different groups of customers effectively. I did hear some guys say they had an appointment for a fitting, so that's a nice service they offer. It's getting to be prom season so there were a lot of high schoolers getting ready to get dressed up. I'm glad that's still a thing! read more

We found the staff at this location to be knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The suit my partner rented is beautiful and as promised. They did a good job with the fitting. I have no basis for comparison so I can't say if the price was fair but I was definitely surprised to pay over $200 for a suit rental, even with us providing the shirt and shoes. read more

Thank you very much to Paula and Dayshawn for their outstanding service. My son and I arrived on Oct. 28th to buy a suit for my son. We needed it for a Nov. 3rd wedding. So, right out of the gate, we put JAB and Paula on the spot with a tight deadline. Paula found us a great suit, but the correct trousers, which would need to be hemmed, weren't available onsite. She ordered them shipped to us with delivery expect on the following Wednesday. To our pleasant surprise, they arrived on Tuesday; unfortunately, however, they were the wrong size. When I called the store, Dayshawn, the store manager received my call and told me he would order a pair for overnight delivery to the store from their warehouse and would also have a sister store (in Rhode Island) overnight a pair to my house just to be sure. Both pairs of trousers arrived on Thursday and Paula had one pair hemmed for my son on the spot. In every business "things happen"; but, it's how you respond to those situations that defines the business. I could not be more pleased with JAB, Paula, and Dayshawn for stepping up on a moment's notice to solve a problem for their client. Top notch results from a client-oriented team. Went in to purchase a suit for my daughter's wedding. Had two suits put aside on "hold" since was not sure of the color I needed. One suit was a sale item and the other was the last one in my size. Went back within 24 hours and the suits could not be found! Asked the store mgr. for a comparable suit to the one on sale at the sale price and he would not do it! He said that they were not going to give it away! Terrible customer service. This was totally their mistake and would not offer any compromise to the consumer. read more

The guys working here are great. Friendly, helpful, nice, but the clothing here is INSANELY overpriced in store. On their website is where you get the deals. Jos A Bank is entry level clothing quality. It's respectable, looks good, fits good etc. they have nice options available. They have slim fit, regular fit, portly fit etc... but they call them stupid things like "regal fit". Just call it portly, I'm not offended. When you get stuff here deeply discounted you are getting good value but otherwise you are overpaying. I wish they would just focus more on setting a realistic price for their stuff instead. I walked in and found a complete miracle suit that fit me perfectly on clearance for about $100, at 48 portly with a 46 waist. Typically their suits that are 48 come with a 43 waist. So I got really lucky. If I wanted another one of that same suit they were going to charge over $600 LOL. MSRP here is just SILLY. They have frequent sales. Wait for their sales. Bow ties which are $30+ can be occasionaly had for $5 on their website. I picked up a suit that is normally $200 for about $50 but that is quite rare. The tailoring service here is cheap and they do a good job. It is a bit slow but that's no big deal for me as I woukd rather get it done cheap. Heading into the mall Jos A Bank is basically one of the first stops, which is SUPER convenient. I come here for my tailoring and that's about it. When I do I may look around for something deeply discounted. I would strongly recommend you shop with Jos A Bank if you are looking for something that will look good without spending a whole lot. read more

We had originally gone to the Jos A. Bank in Glastonbury and I was very unimpressed with the staff. One guy was walking around singing, discussing work stuff (like "Did Joe leave? I thought Joe was here til 3.."), etc. The woman helping us was okay but I'm not sure how wide her actual knowledge of suits was. We were in Danbury and my fiance had liked a suit at the Glastonbury store, so we stopped in to try it on again. We had much better customer service this time. Even though the employee was busy (other people came in and needed help, etc) he was very accommodating for helping my fiance try pieces on, finding appropriate sizes, ordering what he needed when he purchased the suit. He even estimated 5 days for the suit to arrive and it came in 2! Decent sale on the suit we got and that employee even ended up knowing my cousin from a totally different state. This store and the experience of renting tuxedos for our wedding was an absolute nightmare. 1 groom, 3 groomsman (all same tux & colors), 1 father of the bride, 1 adult ring bearer (same suit & colors). NOT DIFFICULT. And this is the short story! Went 3 months early to look at colors. Chose some, placed the order and would call to make appointments. I changed my mind on TIE colors. Called to have them corrected. NO ONE could change the information in a computer but 1 person. That employee was NEVER there. 1 month later I finally got the colors corrected. HA, so I thought. 1 month before wedding, I go with groo, dad and ring bearer for measurments...2 HOURS in to our visit, they have my dads name on the grooms measurements, the groom not even measured yet and my son was measured 3 times by 2 different people. 1 HOUR later, I walked out with photos of the receipt with my dads name on the grooms ticket and a verbal agreement that it would be corrected. Deposit for Groom's tux and son's Tux paid for via CC. Dad paid cash for his, that day. Obviously, this wasn't going to be trusted. 3 phones through out the week to make sure Tuxes were AS ordered, color, size. Low and behold, send guys to pick up. ALL groomsman tuxes had different colored vests and tie. Like a rainbow. 1 Groomsman's Shirt was the equivalent to a Medium... HE IS 6' 3" & WEIGHS NEAR 300 pounds. A medium, really? My dad, the sleeves were so long, you can't see his hands. And they wanted my father to pay.... again. And they wanted the grooms payment. He was supposed to get a free Tux with the rental of all of these others! At $269 a tuxedo I was EMBARRASSED to have to ask our wedding party to pay this much for such poor quality of EVERYTHING. After the wedding, dad went to drop off his, they wanted him to pay! AGAIN! I have gotten my photos back. My groom, my husband... if he wasn't standing perfectly straight, his tux rode up to his ears. When he put his hands in his pockets the entire suit bunched, he looked like a clown. The same exact tux on others was ridiculous on him. Thank God men aren't as self conscious, because his tux made him look like he was wearing a CLOWN SUIT when he only weighs 205 at 6'. 2,000 wedding photos and I am heartbroken at what I have left that look decent. I have never been so disappointed, angry and mind blown by the lack of common sense in human beings as I am with this store and its employees. I will never use or refer Jos. A. I wanted to let you know about the absolutly incredible service provided to my husband and I by Danbury, CT Store Manager Eric Novitskiy. On Saturday, Nov. 3 we traveled from Long Island to Danbury for a wedding. When we arrived, we realized we had left our garment bag with our suits, shirts, ties and belts at home! And the wedding was just hours away. Since this was a black-tie-optional wedding, we figured we would just rent tuxedos, but every store we called told us they needed at least one day advanced notice for a tuxedo rental, and offered no other alternatives. All except for Eric. He told us it was too late to rent tuxedos, but assured us that he could have suits and all the accessories ready for us in time for the wedding if we wanted to purchase either a tux or a suit. Once at the store, Eric took charge and in no time helped us pick out suits, shirts, ties and belts with a professionalism and courtesy you rarely see these days. Two hours later our suits had been altered, our new shirts pressed, and we were all set for the wedding. My usband happened to mention that I had a scuff mark on one of his dress shoes and Eric was there with a shoe shine kit, polishing his shoes! We were extemely impressed by and grateful for Eric's personal service. This was our first experience with Jos. A. Banks, but if Eric is indicative of the service you provide, I can assure you it will not be the last. read more

Went in knowing exactly what I wanted, size/fit/style/price, just didn't know where to look. I asked staff member for help (no customers aside from me in store) and they looked annoyed. Pointed me to a section and left. That's great if it was the section I was looking for but everything price tag was a minimum of triple my budget. Sorry guys, but if I am not worth your time you will not be worth my money and patronage. Terrible customer service overall. Do not go to this place! 5 of us went to there to get our tuxedos for a wedding. The same person took all of our measurements and they were all messed up. The groom's entire tux was too loose. My jacket was too tight. 3 of my other friends had jackets too long, undershirt too big and tie for tuxedo not ordered. The store's response to all of our problems was... "Sorry sir, it's a rental and there's nothing we can do for you." When we tried to ask about getting replacements or another size, they said no because they don't want to order other sizes to pay for the shipping to their store. They seemed like they didn't care and don't want to help. Even though it was their mistake. The groom had to return his entire tuxedo. The whole thing! He was extremely upset and couldn't understand why the store was not willing to help. This is one of the most important day of his life and the people working there did not care. The rest of us got very little help. We had to beg for alterations on our suits. They don't care about how you look. They care about getting money from you and pushing you out the door regardless how the tuxedo fits you. We went to the location almost every other day to solve the problem and it seemed like we had to explain the issues again and again. Nobody wrote anything down on the computer. The response was "oh, i didn't know about that. let me check that for you...". We were just here yesterday. How do you not put anything down in the system? My 2 other friends went to other Jos A Bank locations and they were fine with the service. Not in this store. Please, don't go to this place. Spend your money on another place who will treat you fairly and care about quality. This place is terrible! read more

I got $95 cufflinks from this store and after one month and a couple of uses the stone fell off. I brought it back thinking that they would exchange it for a new one but they refused. I think that is really lousy considering that this is their product with their name on it. read more

I have to agree with Christopher M. I decided to update my old suit since it was looking, well, old and I had a wedding coming up. (I'm one of those one wedding/funeral/graduation suit kind of guys). I came to the Danbury store because they were having a great sale. I found a suit that my wife and I loved but the pants were way too baggy. The salesman said the tailoring would not be finished for three weeks and it wouldn't make that much of a difference. Along came the manager Eric Novitskiy. He asked me what date I needed it by. I told him. He said no problem and took me to the back to show me exactly would I needed and what they could do, which was exactly what I wanted. He was very professional and super friendly the whole time. I left very satisfied. I highly recommend this store. Update: They finished tailoring my suit THE DAY AFTER I bought it! Unbelievable. So, when I went back to pick it up, I decided to get a sport coat too. I was helped by sales executive Russell Benjamin who was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful as well. Great place. Here's my take. Husband ordered a very nice overcoat. His size was not in the store. The salesperson (who looked like a slob) said he can order the jacket in his size and it would be in the store in 5 days. We agreed to pay for the coat. We ordered the coat on Dec 13th it is now Dec 23rd. We have called numerous times and was told their backed up. Then we were told we have to call the department that sends the coat to the store. Really??? We paid alot of money for this overcoat. Today we were told after calling the department that the coat was never ordered but we paid for it. DON'T GO TO THIS STORE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. This is my take on the situation. Update we cancelled the order and will wait patiently for the refund check to be delivered. read more

I'm not one to leave reviews. I believe sometimes sales people get put in difficult situations with difficult people and bad reviews aren't warranted. With that being said, I've been in this store multiple times, and I have had a horrible experience twice. This review does not reflect everyone in that store, just one person. The last 2 times I've dealt with Mike. Probably the worst experiences I've ever had at the store. 1st time I went in to exchange Christmas presents. After 30 minutes of him trying to figure out the receipt, I left frustrated with him telling me "I'm just trying to help you out", when he had no idea what to do, or what was going on with my returns. I returned the next day and one of the managers was there and it took him 2 seconds to figure it out, and I left a happy customer. Ok fine, I'll give Mike a pass on that one. 2nd time I go in I was buying suits for all my groomsmen. I tried to avoid Mike, but I figured I'd give him another shot. Mike took all of our sizes and wrote them down on a business card. He was somewhat helpful but not really, and didn't make everyone feel comfortable. We go to ring out and he scanned 6 random sized suits. I figured he knew what he was doing (the price you pay for ignorance). So I pay and he says he needs to order them. He sets up the order and asks for my card again. Not that it's a big deal, but he charged an additional 5 cents to my card. Again, not a big deal, but he should have told me what he was doing. He handed me an order form and said they will be there within a week. Stupid me left with my groomsmen and didn't check the order receipt. A few days (5) pass, and nothing. I check my order receipt to see the shipping details and noticed that he only ordered 5 suits and not 6. GREAT!! I called the store and spoke to a very helpful Nicholas. Nicholas was great and I will work with him every time I go in from now on. He looked everything up and assured me that everything was fine and they had the missing suit in stock. I had checked online before calling too, and the order status said everything was on hold, so I wasn't sure what that meant. So another few days pass and nothing happened. I go online to check the order status and everything shows it's backordered..... Great. So I call JosAbank corporate and they say there was a hold because they were all rang up for .01 cent and the store shouldn't have done that, or should have left a note. I was told everything would ship and I should have them in a few days. Today is 3/20 and it's been 3 weeks and I have not even received a call from Mike about my order and why it has not arrived. I go online to check the order status and it now shows 6 suits, not the 5 it showed a week or two ago. I'm assuming Nicholas was covering Mike's behind. Now all the suits either show backordered, cancelled, or in stock reserved. What do you know, I'm back on the phone with JosAbank corporate. Since this has not been sorted out I'm going to assume Mr. Mike did not order the suits correctly because I called and they are supposedly still on hold. Worst experience ever. If there was an issue, Mike should have been in contact with me and yet I have not heard a thing. My original feeling has been confirmed, he was only about the sale because his service has been non-existent. I may add a different review after this is all resolved, but I feel everyone should know a little bit about who they should and should not deal with. read more

I went into the store today to get a sleeve button for my Signature Blazer. This is their "top of the line" coat and I had just noticed a button missing. I was told that I couldn't get a button but suggested I bring the coat into the store for repair. How stupid is this? DO NOT buy your wedding suits here. 18 days before our wedding we were told that our best man's suit wasn't ordered and that the suit had been discontinued so we would have to choose a whole new suit for everyone. Then we were told that they could locate the suit in the wrong sizes. So the "solution" was that one of our groomsmen would wear a 43 long when he's a 41 long and the best man would wear a 41 long when he's a 40 regular. After spending 4.5 hours at the store, 4 of the groomsmen were sent home with the wrong shoes. After spending another 2 hours on the phone with corporate, things were finally figured out 15 days prior to our wedding. When I called to speak with the manager at the store to ask for compensation for our trouble, he told me that this was the first he was hearing of this, so there must have been a solution and then he hung up. No apology, no progress and not helpful. Worst customer service I have ever worked with. read more

By far had the worst experience with Jos. A Bank in Danbury, CT. Every time we walked in that store with a groomsmen they asked us the same questions (which they had all the answer to) and had no idea what they were doing. I thought that would be the worst of it, but it was not. Your suit rentals do not come in until 2 days prior to the wedding which I was uneasy about. So on Wednesday (our wedding was Friday) my fiancé goes to pick up his shirt, bow tie and shoes (we had a custom made suit for him and did not need the suit rental) and guess what... They NEVER ordered his stuff (even though we went in 3 months prior for the rentals and probably went in another 3 times with the different groomsmen) they quickly overnighted his stuff (and didn't charge us for the overnight shipping) not sure why we would be charged for your mistake. He then goes back the next day (Thursday) to pick up his stuff again and guess what... His shirt is still wrong and they never ordered the white cuffs for his shirt (now this is one day prior to our wedding). One of there best employees (I think - who we had never seem before) quickly helped us and fixed the situation. Now fast forward to the day after our wedding when we go to return the stuff. I asked to speak to a manager as this is unacceptable (also they charged us for all his stuff and only gave us 20% off). The employee we were working with goes up to the manager to tell him we want to speak to him and the manager was being so rude to him telling him "he needed our receipt and proof of what happened". Um I am pretty sure my receipt is not going to say "forgot to commit grooms order then overnighted the wrong stuff". At this point, I am so annoyed I went up to the manager and explained the situation (I was not calm at this point) he keep telling me to calm down and that he didn't know the background (well then you ask). It got to the point where I needed to walk out because I was so disgusted. They did give us a full refund, but it shouldn't have had to get to that. I will give one positive comment that they did get the groomsmen's suits right (except that the buttons on one of there shirts were all broken). So if you want things done right, you might want to consider going somewhere else. read more
