This place sucks. Would not recommend AT ALL. The spots are tiny and there are too many oversized rigs poking into the roadway. Asked for a back in spot and was given a pull through spot twice, even after clarifying and asking to move and with tons of available spaces. There is supposed to be laundry but it's locked and "not plugged in." The bathrooms are decrepit. No paper towels, hand dryers don't work, barely any light. The showers are disgusting and do not get warm. Only one stream of water pelting you and no place to hang your towel, put your toiletries, or put your clothes to stay dry. Went around to three bathroom/shower buildings, all the same. Came here because we wanted to shower and do laundry on our long road trip. So angry. Would steer clear of this place if you want any cleanliness, warmth, comfort, or amenities. This is the worst place we've ever stayed. read more

This is a must visit for sure. We spent about 1.5 days here over 2 days or so and we loved it! I could spend an entire here! Very nice place with so much to do! Park: very relaxing and very private. The first day we walked along the trail at the bottom for about an hour near the water. So dam peaceful and relaxing. We really loved every moment there. Then we came back later and camped at night to watch the stars. Hearing the wind along with the sky and stars makes for a truly beautiful relaxing experience! This was probably one of our favorite stops in park city utah. We didn't have time to boat or get kayaks. We will definitely do that next time. I think if we come back we would spend more time here. I bought a state park annual pass because I love to get up and get out in nature - and since it's $20 per vehicle for a day pass, I know that the annual pass at $130 will rapidly pay for itself. The Jordanelle provides covered day use picnic areas, paved roads, and easy access to bring my kayak into the water. A large no wake zone makes kayaking and paddle boarding easy. This is a beautiful mountain lake area! Deer Valley and the Wasatch Range surround you as you float, paddle, and enjoy fun in the sun. read more

Well nice lake and very clean park. I am sure paid for with lots of state and federal dollars. No problem. Charge a fee to camp or rv. Of course. Charge $5 just to bike thru... hmmmm. a 2 bedroom luxury condo within short walk of lake costs 175 a nite in summer. The parks cute little cabins cost the same. Someone does not understand the market hence the cabins mostly vacant in mid August:) Very little hiking or biking trails It should have a bike trail around entire lake. They also charge to use a picnic table which is pretty rich. Nice park folks but come on. There is no grocery or gas or convenience store for 20 min to park city. This are crying for a small coffee shop/convenience store store deli :) read more

We pulled in to Jordanelle State Park after being on the road for a couple of days. The staff was polite and helpful and our camp site was nice. We wandered to the marina store for firewood and while the staff was polite, the store seemed to be out of a lot of basic supplies. We purchased our firewood and proceeded to make camp. The camp has restrooms and showers that are impeccably clean for a campsite, there are also coin op washers and dryers, but we did not use those . Our only complaint about the park is that our particular site had a sewage smell that would come wafting through every couple of hours; it was awful. read more

Great park..but we are not coming back because the rangers lack integrity and honor. Our story. Came here with my wife and kids to go boating with my friend's family. Never been here before. We arrived 10 minutes before my friend with his boat. We were charged $25 to enter. When my friend arrived they turned him away because there was an event. Boat couldn't be launched. Bummer. It took us awhile to even find parking, due to some event. By the time we turned around and got back to the entrance 22 minutes had past. I walked up to the entrance hut to get a refund. This ranger (see pic) Ranger Hinton was already pissed because somebody had just hit the entrance pole. He told me there "would be no refunds today". I explained my situation and he said: "you entered you got a fee for your money, I'm not going to hold up the line to give you a refund". He was quite rude and seemed consumed with frustration. I haven't been treated this badly by another human being in quite a long time. He happily had me drive away having received nothing for my money. He indicated that on a different day he maybe would have issued a refund but it's a pain. I hate to make judgements , but he seemed like a typical unmotivated government employee with a "little man" power complex". My request would have taken him 4 minutes. We left. I'm having VISA dispute the payment. There was another man there also trying to get a refund because of a similar misunderstanding. read more

This is a review for the campground. We stayed 6 nights in our RV, and had a wonderful time. Many of the sites are spacious, and overlook the lake. Electric and water hook ups; no sewer hookup, but they have a dump station. Staff was friendly. Great park and beach areas. I saw a family of deer right next to the road. There are on-site boat and kayak rentals. Easy reservations through Reserve America. You will hear significant traffic noise from the nearby Highway and noise from jet skis and boats on the lake, but it quiets down pretty much at night. Note that some of the sites are not level; we had to use blocks and levelers in addition to our automatic leveling system. But overall a very nice campground. read more

Paddleboarding review of Jordanelle State Park. We went to Jordanelle this summer for an afternoon to play on the beach and paddle board. Jordanelle is a large lake with a wide sweeping beach that offers many beachfront areas even on a busy Saturday. The beach itself is mostly gravel, not sand, and can be pretty rough on the feet. I'd definitely suggest wearing water-shoes or sandals. While paddleboarding, we frequently saw waverunners and power boats ignore the "No Wake Zone" and it made paddleboarding a little more adventurous and less stable. There was a small sandbar or island or some kind we paddleboarded to that was covered in birds and bird poop. Not the most pleasant of destinations, but we didn't know when we headed out there. If you're not planning to hangout the whole day, the $15 day use fee is expensive for a few hours of play. For paddleboarding or playing at the beach, I'd suggest going elsewhere. There are better options then Jordanelle and some are free too. read more

It's a nice park, but they need to do a better job at controlling the number of people coming into the park versus the number of people that make reservations and cannot get in because capacity is full. Not only that, people are ignorant and try to park in reserved stalls. This happened over 4th of July weekend and a couple other extremely busy times. Because the park takes reservations they need to do a better job at tracking and still allowing those who pay in. It was a huge pain trying to chase people away from the reserved stalls. At one point I had to stick chairs in each spot until all parties showed up. Warning, if you plan to visit this park on a holiday week get there early and make sure everyone in your party is there early (which again defeats the purpose of reservations) otherwise you'll going to have a headache.. read more

This reservoir is great for all activities, and there's plenty of space for everyone. Kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, fishermen, sailboats, and motor boats. We went out on kayaks and didn't feel nervous at all about space and getting run over by a motor boat (as I have on plenty of other lakes and open water spaces). It doesn't hurt that you're also surrounded by incredible views in all directions! read more

We camp here several times a year for many years in a row. I see them clean campites between guests, and it's location is perfect for Park City. But for several years in a row the same showers have been broken. Doors need to be adjusted, shower heads and curtains replaced. Just some quick updates on a few showers. I reserved the Beach pavilion for a family reunion in July 2022. I found the location on line and the reservation process was simple. We wanted to do our entire reunion outdoors because of COVID and it was hard to find a patio to do dinner with 40 + people. The pavilion was great. It allowed family to come to the park when they wanted and gave us plenty of shade. I did find the 5 pass system a bit of a mess but that was partly because they had staff not show up at 8am the day of our reservation. The staff in the office did their best to help me. It is a beautiful park and I hope to be able to come back and actually enjoy it vs being a host. I thank the park for having the pavilion and allowing out of state people use it. We were concerned that the park would fill to capacity being Pioneer Weekend but thankfully we didn't have any issues and most came early enough to avoid the busy time if was an issue. read more

After living in Utah my entire life, it took me until 2018 to visit Jordanelle... and it's not that far away, nor did I really miss much in my formative years. I've been to Jordanelle a total of three times in my entire life.. up to this point. Twice, I came for kayaking, and the other time was for a company party at one of the cabanas. If you're there for a short time, Jordanelle entrance fee is pricey: $15 for the day- and it doesn't seem to matter on which day you go. I've been there on Tuesdays and Fridays. It's fine for a long day of boating or water skiing. You can definitely bring food and drink in, and they don't seem to check if you have booze or not - (I honestly don't even know if it's allowed, but I've definitely had some there). I feel like I was spoiled in my years spent at Pineview, so it's really hard to feel a deep love for Jordanelle, but I understand why people do like it. It's a nice getaway, and depending on the day, you can have a majority of the waters to yourself. I was excited about the idea of renting a cabana, because in my mind the cabana was going to be a lot more than it actually is - but it is a small picnic table with a little cover. Meh. I've heard good things about the camping area of Jordanelle - but as camping is on my "to-don't" list, I will never experience it. Play your cards right and I'll do a cookout there with you, and promptly drive home when the dark comes. I've only floated on the water... I've never actually been in for a swim. The water is super dark, and it looks absolutely terrifying when you see a plastic bag moving along in the water. (Which has been twice). My most recent kayaking visit had me fearful of flesh eating bacteria, but it's been a week and nothing's fallen off, so I'm pretty sure Jordanelle is free from it. That's a plus. read more

I finally checked out the more popular side of this park--the Hailstone side with the big launch, all the pavilions, etc. See my original review for the info about the Rock Cliff side and the amenities. I'm not a huge fan of the Hailstone part, and I'm especially not a huge fan of all the high density development going up around the reservoir that makes it feel much less like a state park, and more like a bad 80s summer movie, complete with total disregard for the environs. This is a good option for RV'ers providing easy 15 minute access to Park City. We have used it a couple of times and are happy with it overall. But, for RV's, most spots are very sloped and we had to use every piece of blocking we had and borrow more to get close to level. No shade. The lake itself was tough to enjoy with nothing but mud along the shoreline. It looked good for boaters. Campground/Park administration had zero flexibility as you might expect from a government run location. It is a beautiful spot though and the camp host was great. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Worst experience ever. There is only one way to book a reservation, which is to call the reservation number. You'll be on hold for 90+ minutes at BEST. When we arrived at the campground, it had been closed due to flooding. NO ONE notified us, called us, emailed us, nothing. I tried to get a refund and called 4 different number (on hold for a total of 3+ hours) and I STILL couldn't get anyone to refund me. read more

It's always good to get out of the city and go spend sometime with mother nature. Born and raise in Utah, but this place is still such a mystery to me. I'm fascinated every time I get a chance to escape to these beautiful mountains. I've been to several of Utah lakes and I must say this man made reservoir is quite beautiful. Not my favorite lake and not my least. We love coming here and renting water toys at the onsite marina. Rental prices on the motor boats have gone up, but I guess that is to be expected. Kids love spending time in the water and so did our puppy. The only thing I would recommend is to be be careful, because the beach is extremely rocky and weedy, which can be hazardous to young children and even your pets. The water is typically cold all summer, unless you go towards the end of August. Wet suits are great for this particular lake. They have overnight camping that is affordable. Or If you looking just to come for a day be ready to pay a $12 entrance fee. read more

A beautiful park and lake. Great for having a nice picnic in beautiful weather. There are cabanas for you to use or you can just set up a blanket on the beach to have lunch or dinner. There are 360 degrees of the mountains which are gorgeous. Lots of opportunities for boating and other water activities. Be careful when you go in the water because you might sink into the mud. If you are nervous about dogs be wary because people usually let them just wander and some don't even watch where their dogs go. Not usually an issue just for those who are scared of dogs. read more

I'm not sure why someone keeps saying don't bring your dog but dogs are 100% allowed they have to be on a leash and of course you need to pick up after them , you can let them off leash to run in the water in certain areas , now maybe he went to rock cliff and there are no dogs allowed over there ? Looks nice, but I had to leave as soon as I arrived. The dog cops threatened me with a ticket for having my dog with me. It's not well known that dogs are not allowed, but they are very confrontation and inflexible. I won't come back here under any conditions, with or without my dog. Nice lake and pleasant water to tube and wakeboard on. Lake isn't real big, so for big cruising boats it isn't great. It is perfect for playing in water with your boat. There isn't a beach of much kind so for people who don't have boat, you'll not find it especially fit for playing on the shoreline. read more
