On a nice day you'll usually see pups running around together while families spread out across the park. There's plenty to do beyond the open field. The playground is great for kids, with slides, climbing ropes, and other fun features, and there are swings, a full basketball court, and a sand volleyball court nearby. The pavilion with picnic tables and charcoal grills makes it an easy spot to spend an afternoon. This is a pretty fantastic neighborhood park and a great place to relax, let the kids play, or simply enjoy watching happy dogs wear themselves out.

Whether you're on a leisurely drive through the mountains or just looking for a quick photo stop, Empire Pass Overlook is a beautiful, easy-to-access spot that captures the majesty of the Park City area. Large, shady trees, ample space for the kids or pups to run and play and varied areas for groups to congregate. This one has it all! I attended a gathering here and had a delightful time. There's a spacious parking lot, so if you're coming in via car, you can park and walk in. You'll cross a darling little stream over a tiny bridge and come up on a large pavilion. In fact, there are several pavilions scattered throughout that you can reserve for your group event. There are a few different playgrounds, a skate park, bathrooms and an impressive off-leash dog park on the south end. We spent most of our time at the dog park letting the pups run and play. It's a remarkable use of space-right up against an area that would likely not be very usable otherwise, but it's been turned into the perfect area to throw a ball for your four legged kiddos. It's got shade, seating, water fountains and a few climbing features to keep the pups engaged. This is definitely a park that I look forward to returning to.

I passed a stop called the bloods lake hike which I remember reading about as I was planning my trip. So I stopped to take the hike. I thought it was going to be shorter than it was so I left my bag with water, back up charger, etc. Wish I brought it with me. The hike to bloods lake and back from the parking lot took 3.3 miles. It was tough for me because of the inclines and I'm no hiker. I'm from Florida and used to flat land so I don't know if my calves have ever worked so hard. The trail was very populated giving it was a Monday. Many people with dogs. The view once you arrive to the lake is worth the journey! I took a couple photos before my phone died. I then returned to this drive later in the evening to watch the sunset. I stopped at the one of the fist stops called empire pass and it was gorgeous. Same view as the morning but so much prettier with the colors in the sky!

***UPDATED REVIEW = My review is NOT for Guardsman Pass Overlook I did NOT go here. Yelp for some…read morereason attached my review for the Lake Lackawaxen Trail and Lake to Guardsman Pass Overlook. I never even went to the lookout. The trail starts down the street at the parking lot across the street from the new Bloods Lake Trail. Who ever the yelper app people are that did this it's not cool. You don't live here so you don't know the area. Trust that when people add a new "listing" they know what they are talking about! To get to Lake Lackawaxen trail you will need to first hike about 1.8 miles on the Bloods Lake Trail until you get to the lake. (which is a beautiful lake) Continue on the trail, which is clearly marked about a mile more up the trail. This part of the trail is a little more steep, and definitely more rocky but well worth the climb. There is a fork in the road where you can continue to go towards the left or make a right and climb up to Clayton Peak. If you want to go to Lackawaxen stay on the left side of the trail. It takes you past a couple rock scrambles but are easy enough to pass. This lake is very serene, and peaceful not as many people climb up to this lake as the one below. Dogs are allowed on the trail just not near the lake. Please respect the rules and keep your dog from going into the water as this is our watershed. Perfect time of the year to climb to the lake as the leaves are changing colors and the temps are much cooler.

Prospector Park is a charming neighborhood park that feels like a little hidden gem in Park City,…read moreespecially on a nice day when you just want to get outside and unwind. One of the first things to know is that parking is very limited, with less than half a dozen spots available, so it's often easiest to walk or bike in if you can. Once you're there, the park opens up into a really pleasant mix of amenities and open space. There's a well-maintained playground that's especially great for the kiddos, with plenty of climbing features and structures that encourage active play. For adults, the park also includes a paved walking path that's perfect for a peaceful stroll (ideal for clearing your head and taking in the fresh mountain air). There are also multiple trails branch out for biking, running, and walking, and a nearby bike path connects the park to the broader rail trail system. The park features picnic tables and shaded areas that make it easy to enjoy an al fresco snack or casual picnic. A good-sized grassy field adds even more space to spread out, play, or just lounge. Dog parents will especially appreciate how super dog-friendly the park is. You'll often see people here with their dogs, and there are even poop bag stations provided along the trails, which makes things convenient and clean. I don't have a dog, but I always love coming here the saying hi to all the adorable pups!! Overall, Prospector Park is a great all-around neighborhood park that's simple and scenic.

It's a shame, since it's on a beautiful patch of land with a great view of the Wasatch Mountains. What a breathtaking, expansive view of the greater Salt Lake valley and the Wasatch Mountains. It has a lot of great walking areas, a unique playground, a reservable pavilion, an a renowned water feature which becomes a kids hotspot come summertime. I highly recommend taking an ambling walk to Quarry Bend Park, lass than a mile from AP. It's a pretty flat walk, no too strenuous, and it will give you an opportunity to experience two of Sandy's fabulous parks. The one minor negative for me is location. The west end of the park skirts the Lowe's and Hobby Lobby on the east end of the Quarry Bend Shopping Center. And, being right off of the hill part of 9400 S, some areas come complete with the whooshing of cars. Overall, a great park ... another feather in Sandy's cap!
