[937] 6/21/2019 We were visiting Luray and decided to go horseback riding and due to positive reviews we used Jordan Hollow Stables. I suggest the private ride as it's not much more expensive and you get a more personalized experience. The ranch is located off a main road so it's easy I find. The owner Lisa is SOOOO friendly and helpful when booking, when we arrived and when we were done. She is a people person and makes you feel like you have known her forever. Easy parking. We went out for about 1 1/2 hours and it was just enough. Our guide was Eleanor. She is a friendly young lady. We went down numerous trails and you can tell she loved the horses and riding. She also was happy to answer all of my 10 year old sons questions. We saw deer on our tour but missed the bear and her cub. I lost my shades and Lisa immediately went back and found my shades. Made me happy as I thought they were lost forever. The horses are mostly rescue and beautiful. We totally enjoyed our trip and would definitely go back Be prepared to tip your guide 20%. It was worth it.

They have peacocks, chickens, and goats as well.

This was our second visit to Jordan hollow stables on 10/17/20@2:30 pm and it was again an unforgettable experience!I booked the reservation with Lisa who made us feel like family. Our trail guide was Lexi and she went above and beyond on making our ride the best time ever!We really think she is a certified wildlife spotter(lol). Our horses Tanto and Colorado were so sweet and had great personalities of their own.We will be sure to visit everytime we are near Luray. Great people who take excellent care of their horses and customers. They are highly recommended. Thanks for the wonderful time! The Wilsons

Our little one got scared once in the saddle, so we stayed back and Lisa let us start up a horse spa and feed the chickens. Great Break from the city. This small biz felt more like visiting family. Please stop by.

Really fantastic experience. 1st time rider and the staff was lovely, knowledgeable, informative and very social. The horses are beautiful, well behaved and well taken care of. My sister and I had a great time and will definitely be bringing others back.

Good times here. Great staff in beautiful VA horse country

Great time here with this staff and their horses. Real laid back and very knowledgeable. I did wish that they had a trail with more vistas but overall it was a great time had by all. Would recommend this stable for your trail riding needs.

We decided to go horseback riding this Labor day weekend. This was our 2nd time visiting. The owner Lisa wasn't there this time but her son was there to explain all the rules. The guide was very nice and friendly. She recommended we take the walk/trot ride the next time we decide to come back. We went at a good pace through the woods. We even saw lots of deer just hanging out while we walked by. We all had a great time especially my 12 year old.

Honestly, it was the BEST! From the ride to the guide (Beca) to the wonderful hospitality of the owner, everything was wonderful! We were running late and they were so accommodating! The horses were so wonderful and sweet! We brought some apples for the horses and we were able to feed them! Tip: bring some red and green apples to feed to your horses! Thank you Jordan Hallow Stables!

We just finished a Boy Scout horsemanship merit badge program at this stable. It was extraordinary. I was heavily involved with horses as a teen, and I am now counting my many years as a scout mom. First off, they have a spot for campers if you are bringing a group. It's quite nice and spacious. Primarily, the people who work with the horses are amazing. They did an extremely thorough lesson with the Scouts on the care of horses, the tack, the grooming, the whole shebang. And the kids got the experience of truly grooming and tacking horses. This is invaluable. They don't just stick you on a horse and say go. You get to experience a horse. Because they are wonderful creatures, and it should always be more than just sitting on the saddle and riding. All of the people who work here- Molly, Becca, Kelly (forgive me if I've gotten a name wrong, because you were all amazing!) have worked here for years. And Lisa, the owner of the stable, is a truly accommodating and wonderful woman. These horses are her babies. And that means a lot to me. Because I want to go ride horses that are loved and cared for. Not tired horses who are mistreated. Thanks to Lisa and the gang. You are doing it right!!! I will be back with my kids. And I already miss Rose.

I go horse back riding once a year, and this was by far one of the best rides I have been on. All of the workers were extremely nice and caring. The trail was very pretty and thoroughly enjoyed the

Wonderful trail riding experience! Beautiful stables in the Shenandoah Valley. Trail through the woods were shaded and serene. Lisa the owner was kind and attentive. Our guide Molly was patient and informative. Great for kids! We did the 90 min. walk which was great for beginners.

The owner and employees at this stable are amazing. My 9 year old daughter was nervous to get on the horse (to the point she started crying) one of the employees came over and started comforting her, introduced her to the "calmest", "best" horse they had that she would be riding. They calmed her fears and she ended up having the best time. Meanwhile my 3 year old who isn't old enough to ride the trails stayed back at the stable with her dad and while we were out riding the owner took her around and introduced her to all of the animals and even let her get on a horse for a few minutes. The trails were nice and peaceful. We had such a good time.

The views were definitely epic, but they came with a couple of big hurdles…read more The first was that when I booked online there wasn't any way to put the ages of kids or expertise level of the people riding. It's fine, but they claim that you don't need any experience. When we showed up, our guide saw us waiting outside of the car and he told us to sign in. After filling the paperwork he came out and said he didn't know that there were kids riding on their own. (I had my 11 and 9 year old riding by themselves). He seems like a very nice guy, but the whole time he was complaining that he already dealt with kids that morning and the slow horses had been used so he didn't have slow horses for us to put the kids on. The second hurdle was that his horse was not listening, I think he might've been a young horse that wasn't as broken-in as his usual horse. He said his horse was hurt, so he couldn't use it and he had to ride a horse that was "nuts." There were horses that were in the back that he had swapped so I don't know why he couldn't switch his horse to different one. He kept having to smack him and pull the reins to try to get him to keep going on the trail because he wasn't listening. This wouldn't have been a huge issue, but he insisted in holding a lead to lead my daughter's horse since she was riding on her own. (he suggested my son go ride with my husband doubled up) His horse kept moving abruptly, and I felt like it was more of a safety issue for my daughter to be near his horse so I asked him to let go of the lead, and have her ride by herself without him pulling the horse. She seemed to do much better without him holding it because, thankfully, her horse (Diamond) was cooperative and chill. The whole time he seemed very frazzled and worried. Although it is understandable for him to want us to have a good experience with the horses and for everyone's safety, I think that him having a different horse and there being better communication when booking a riding session would've made for a much better experience. The whole time we pretty much felt like a nuisance, and I felt sorry for him. He suggested that we get a partial refund because our experience wasn't as great as it should've been since we didn't have the correct horses to have a smooth ride. When I communicated with the owner, they just said thank you for letting them know and they didn't offer any sort of compensation or refund. In future, if we were to do this experience again, it would probably have to be with a different guide, but I don't think that I would come back to this Ranch I would try somewhere else. On a positive note, the views were amazing, the horses that we had were pretty chill and kept trying to eat, but other than that they didn't cause trouble. They had helmets for us if we needed them and the guide was upset, but he was apologetic the whole time. The guide did a great job at posing the horses for our family picture.
