With a bunch of energy from the staff and other people there, it was a really good time! Everyone there especially the staff and other jumpers were super friendly and knowledgeable. They made the nerves go away by how calm and excited everyone was. I cant thank the staff enough at Skydive Shenandoah for such an awesome experience. I will definitely be back again soon. My group ended up staying to watch the next plane go up which was all filled with solo jumpers. Come to find out that was the last load bc it was about to get dark I guess. They ended up having a big cookout and were going to light up a bonfire and just hangout. We thought that was so cool. They invited us to stay, but we had to get on the road to head home. We drove 3 over three hours from Baltimore. Our group was really happy with our experience here and was well worth the extra drive. Last thing, I recommend getting one of the videos. It was a little extra, which made me hesitant but once they explained how it worked it made sense. Not everyone in my group was able to get the video package due to the extra cost. They were really nice about it and added my friends in during my gear up and landing. Made the video a little extra special. I was surprised, but we ended up meeting another couple and come to find out they didn't know each other and were just paired to go up on the same time together. I ended up asking if that was normal for people to come alone and one of the instructors told us it happens more often than you think. Highly recommend! Definitely will be back again.

My wife canceled one of her spa arrangements to make time for today's horse ride. When we came today we discovered the reschedule was not put in and I have now been waiting for the manager for over an hour to get my refund. I understand things happen beyond anyone's control however the lack of consideration giving the inconvenience win absence of any resolution accountability or apologies is unprofessional. I decided to push forward and was so happy I did. Such a breathtaking hike. The falls are gorgeous and the path is very nice. They have steps built in to many steep places that makes it very easy to navigate. It was a very warm spring day and I did not bring enough water. Bring water or at least a filter so you can have as much drinking water as you need. I enjoyed the hike down but was quickly humbled on the way back up! When I say breathtaking I mean I was out of breath and breathing hard on the way up. So worth it though. I actually hiked down to the Rose River Loop Trail and that's where I turned around to go back up and it's like a 945 ft elevation gain in 1.5 miles. I had to take some breaks and even cooled myself down a bit in the water. What an epic hike though and I even saw a deer!

A great little ropes course for having fun in Luray…read more There's a moment when climbing when I realized "wait, I didn't have to sign a waiver for this. Either they're reckless, or so confident in their course that I must be safe." Needless to say, I felt safe on the course. I weigh over 200 lbs. and the harness held me when I hung on without putting my feet on the ground. Also, the tracks are designed that the only openings for you to come off is at the entrance and exit. There's a great little training course just a couple feet off the ground. A good place to start with children and understand how to move the harness around when encountering other climbers so you can pass the other without getting harnesses tangled. There are various challenges throughout the course that range from easy to moderately challenging. These include static beams, to tightrope walking, or to swaying bridges or ropes. I wouldn't say anything is too hard. I think the Level 1 challenges were a little more manageable than the ones higher up on Level 2. The only one that genuinely scared me was a Level 2 spot to walk out on a beam, out over everything else (spoiler, the beam rocks up and down). The whole course crisscrosses so you can skip one challenge and still get to another one past it, and there are two staircases for moving between Levels 1 and 2. Fair to say, this is not for people with a fear of heights. Child #2 preferred the lower level, though he tried a few higher up. Child #1 is fearless and did most challenges 2 or more times. It was windy that day, so it was a little more daunting at times. One guy passed us on the way down from Level 2, clearly a little nervous. No judgment here. Know your limits! If it's not too crowded, you could do the whole course in 25 to 30 minutes, but we spent about an hour up there and had loads of fun. Would absolutely go again.

During my visit, I witnessed the course operator make a female guest cry. Her child (maybe 5 yrs…read moreold) was new to the country and didn't speak English very well. He came to the exit and the operator disconnected him before his parent could explain that he couldn't get back on. When the mother asked for an exception due to the language barrier, she was told that if he's going to be in America then he need to speak English. He then left his post to confront another guest who was nearby that told him his behavior was very rude. She told him to get out of her face and to walk away and he refused. Meanwhile, there are multiple people waiting to exit the course because he was too preoccupied trying to intimidate a woman. I've never seen an employee represent a tourist attraction so poorly. My family and I won't be coming back nor will I encourage any of my friends to go. But if you're looking for something new with a side of sexism and racism, have at it.

Byrd…read moreSr. Visitor Center to get a few more recommendations from the Park Rangers on a hike we could do that day before making the long drive back home to Georgia. Among her recommendations, we chose Doyles River Falls Hike because it was south of where we were, which is the direction we needed to go back home. The real incentive was the two waterfalls on the trail. Having lived in Hawaii for 3 years and hiking on a weekly, if not, on a daily basis, I really missed the mountains and especially the waterfalls hikes! Might as well get all the waterfalls in while we can, because the only waterfall I have found in Savannah is at Big Bass Pro Shop LOL. If you know of any others in Savannah, please do tell! - Trail Description - Doyles River Falls Hike is found on Mile Marker 81.1, just after the Loft Mountain Wayside & Camp Store. Distance - 3.3 miles RT Elevation Gain - 1189 ft Level - Moderate, downhill first, uphill on the way back, so keep that in mind. Multiple stream crossings (none that we got our feet wet in). It's a well maintained trail, mostly shaded, but beware of the sharp loose rocks throughout the trail. We went on a day after it rained and some parts were pretty slippery. There is a spring that you come across at the beginning, but make sure to boil it if you are going to consume it. There are two waterfalls on this trail (approx. 20 ft and 60 ft) and also a bonus waterfall. You will arrive at the bonus waterfall first and you might think that it is the Upper Falls, but the Upper Falls is actually the next one as you continue and the Lower is after the Upper Falls. The bonus falls is probably about 10 ft high and you can easily step into the pool of water that it falls into. Just be sure to read the etched markings on the cement posts to guide you. The Upper Falls (28 ft) has 2 tiers of falls, with large boulders to get to it from the path. The Lower Falls (63 ft) has about 3 tiers of falls. It's pretty tricky to get down to this one. Most climbed down the pretty steep way which I would suggest climbing down with extreme caution. We have small kids, so we decided to go down a little further (not much further) on the trail and then climb down (it was still pretty steep), and then crossed over on the water to get to a small patch of pebbly rocks to look at the waterfall (on the right side, if you're looking at the waterfall). There was a huge tree that fell over about three quarters of the way up the waterfall and it was difficult to get a whole shot, but what can you do about Mother Nature? She does what she wants! It's all part of the charm. - Kiddos - Our kids are still young, but they did it no problem. However, just a note, they lived in Hawaii most of their lives and started hiking at an early age. and did some pretty advanced trails on their own by the time we left Hawaii. Some of the parts of this trail has steep drop offs. On the way there, you're going downhill, so just watch your kids that they don't pick up speed and lose control. Bonus - The Appalachian Trail (AT) crosses over at the trailhead of Doyles River Falls Hike, so at least you can put your two feet on it and say you were on it! I will be back for you AT! I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of the hikes in Shenandoah National Park and I wish we had had more time or even lived close by, but we did two waterfall hikes during our time in Shenandoah and my heart is full, at least for a little while, to have seen another beautiful waterfall!

I can only imagine what the wait is like when it gets busy. We rode one green trail at the bottom then decided to stay at the top and rode those trails. The bike carriers on the lift are fender destroyers! Make sure to take your front fender off or it will be ripped off! Your bikes hang vertically and swing out quite violently when it leaves the loading area. There's one pricey restaurant open with a huge outdoor deck. Paid 15.50 for a chicken sandwich and 4.00 for one soda. There is also no bike rack to put your bikes in. Unfortunately, we only got to ride 2 1/2 trails. Macadamia, Creamy and part of crunchy. If you like rocky trails, this place is for you. Although it was nice and sunny, There was lightning within a 15 mile radius and the lifts never re-opened. Didn't get a chance to ride the techy black trails. Don't think we will be visiting this DH park again but I think it's worth trying it out if you're in the area. Check the weather before you go

My husband and I parked at the lot at mile marker 41.7 on Skyline Drive; the trailhead and an informational sign are easy to access, just off the parking lot. This is a lollipop trail that is rated moderate in AllTrails. My watch recorded a total of 1.8 miles total with an elevation gain of 338'. This is a well-maintained, uphill-climbing trail that leads to overviews with beautiful views. Some quick, random notes: *Once you reach the circular part of the lollipop, the trail to the right is rocky; the path to the left is smoother. You can elect to take one up, and the other down. *We visited in mid-October during leaf-peeping season. The parking lot and the trails near Stony Man were very crowded mid-day. *As you approach the summit, most hikers go to the rocky overview on the right, where there are sweeping views of the valley below. Note, however, that there is another very nice, and smoother rock, overview just five minutes back, just off the main trail. *Shenandoah National Park charges an admission fee.
