The company did the classic thing of taking twice as long and costing twice as much as quoted but when they were done, the work was terrible too! The walls began cracking almost immediately and we had to have other contractors in to fix all the errors they made. Their people smoked on the job site (so, in our home) and whenever we would try and talk with company representatives, they would try and gaslight us into believing it was somehow our fault. I cannot say strongly enough that you should hire literally anybody else.

Scan up, see old, now unused vent from previous gas stove drip, drip, dripping from the ceiling. Remember that we are no longer renters and can't just call the landlord and be done with it. Panic. Dreams of fluffy bunnies & yellow flowers: Call Larry, whom we'd just consulted regarding other minor repairs. The rain stopped that day, so Larry zipped over same day while we were at work, climbed up on top of our roof and determined that not only is our roof in impeccable shape, but that the leak was a very simple fix: change out the vent stacks on top to be "high wind" tolerant. Sigh. Dark chocolates, & sparkling alpine lakes: All told, we've had Larry power wash our outside stairs & reseal them, replace a strip of wood outside of a window, & replace those vent covers on the roof. Throughout the process, Larry appeared quite knowledgeable & offered fair prices. Furthermore, he dissuaded us from other repairs after investigating and finding them unwarranted. May your dreams be filled with bunnies and flowers and chocolates and beautiful lakes.

Wow! I'm so impressed…read more Larry was hired by the building to replace the funky carpeted hallways in the corridors and also to power wash, stain, and refinish the deck off both of our bedrooms. Larry and his crew were always friendly and smiling while hard at work. The crew was so nice they even carted my groceries out of the elevator when I came home early one afternoon and they were finishing up the slate floors. They have done an excellent job. We first hired Artifex for our home renovation which included new kitchen, two new baths, new windows and sliders, refinishing existing hardwood floors, insulation throughout, new electrical, and interior and exterior paint. We even removed a wall and installed new support beams. The work was completed in 4 months and that included a pandemic related delay. The entire team is highly skilled and professional. They offer smart suggestions and good alternatives. And I can't say enough about the quality of their finish work - tile and carpentry. We hired Artifex again for our deck and railing replacement project and experienced the same level of professionalism. We would definitely hire them again for any future projects....That is, if they can fit us in :-)

We hired Mike and his team to completely gut and redo our kitchen, master bath, and master bedroom…read more In addition, we asked for a face lift on the guest bath and new hardwoods throughout the house. There literally wasn't a room in the house that we didn't touch. We originally got 4 quotes on the job and Mike's quote was in the middle range but it was the most complete quote, and he also spent a lot of time even before we signed the contract answering our questions and walking us through each line item. For two people who had never gone through a major renovation before this was incredibly helpful. He originally told us it would take 3 - 4 months to complete the job and everyone who we talked to, who had been through a renovation, told us to expect at least double that. True to his word, Mike and his team completed the work in under 4 months and this was after we were delayed by two weeks when they had to fix shotty work that had been done before we moved in. In addition Mike was very conscious of our budget. He helped us pick cost efficient products and often helped us located less expensive alternatives when he knew of a good option. On the other hand, he and his team are very committed to high quality work and would also let us know if it was worth it to spend the extra money on certain items. If there were places where we could save money by doing the work ourselves, Mike worked with us to let us do that which was a huge plus for us. Throughout the process Mike and his head carpenter Luiz were responsive and did a great job of keeping the whole team on task. In addition, either Mike or Luis were on-site monitoring the work almost every day. This is not a company where you never see the general contractor. I also have to say they were both incredibly responsive to our calls and emails. We are both extremely detail oriented people and Mike took the time to answer all of our questions and he responded in a timely manner. The final product couldn't have turned out better. We have had people tell us that our house looks like it came out of a magazine. And, they are right...it turned out amazingly well, on-time, and within budget!! He was frantic about the money and rude (minus 1 star). He did a good job, on the actual fence. I wouldn't use him again.

One contractor gave an estimate that was accepted by the insurance company, but then that contractor backed out, saying he was moving to Sacramento. Andy, head of Archeon, agreed to abide by the prior contractor's estimate. Although there were the usual delays and timing miscommunications common to every construction job, Andy and his team did an outstanding job, very high quality and within budget. His team also handled unexpected electrical and plumbing problems. They can do it all! I'm super happy with the results and highly recommend them for any size project.
