The molasses and ginger syrup sweetens the matcha so well and the tofu pudding makes you feel like you are drinking a dessert. @soybeanchan999 now sells tofu pudding with an assortment of toppings but you can still buy it plain with the ginger syrup. I love that the prices barely increased from when he was running his shop prior to the renovations. The flower shop is still located in the back of the shop with seating allowing you to enjoy all the pretty flowers and plants while eating your dessert. I will be frequenting this place very often!

Beni Haruka Sweet Potato & Apple tart ($18): this had a cheesecake layer, apples sauteed in butter, custard cream and purple sweet potato paste. I loved the bright purple hue of the potato paste, it's so very eye catching. The overall mouth texture was smooth and creamy with small chunks of apple. It was very mildly sweet, and I thought the apples worked well here. Hoji-cha Caramel Banana ($18): this had layers of chocolate cream, banana custard, and caramel sauce. This was my favorite. The banana custard with chocolate cream works so well. I actually ate this in one sitting and didn't share. You can tell all the desserts were meticulously constructed. They taste surprisingly light and not overly sweet. They are both sophisticated and fun at the same time. The size of the desserts is also spot on. It's big enough to share or to save for another time. The desserts are on the higher end, as far as price is concerned, but I think it is worth it, in my opinion. They change up the flavors of their cheese tarts often which is nice. I hope to try more items in the future, but it does require some planning ahead due to their limited hours of operations.

It is here where I egregiously received a red card: "We're sorry, but cash is not accepted here." I voluntarily ejected to make a Irish Exit. Totally despondent. Manjul Coffee does NOT comply with "Prohibition of Cashless Establishments, as of March 21, 2026, all retail and food establishments in New York State, including New York City, must accept in-person cash payments, banning fully cashless stores." (source: Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Local Law 34 of 2020). Oh! This law is enacted, but not enforced as Manjul Coffee requires a severe telling-off or dressing down. Manjul appears indifferent to invest in a cash register. For small amounts of purchases, my default payment method is cash. Yes, cash is still widely accepted in the 21st century.

Ordered a chai but what I got was a cup of milk with a splash reminiscent of spices. I use to come here for the onigiris. They use to be a good chunk of filling but this visit what I got was a ball of rice, no filling :/ Overall it's no longer my go to spot when I'm in these parts but if it lasts I may give it another try far in the future.
