Regarding the level of dental service(cleaning and filling), I honestly cannot complain…read more The reason for the one-star review is based on Dr. Lemons not honoring what his employees tell clients when it comes to being an in-network provider. Here is what happened: I needed to see a dentist as we recently moved to the area, so I called and spoke with someone in the office and specifically asked if Dr. Lemons was a preferred in-network dentist on my dental plan (As I knew that they would only cover the costs of the cleanings if he was). I was told that he was a preferred in-network provider by the lady who answered the phone that day, so I scheduled the cleaning. The cleaning itself went normally and it was determined that I needed to get a filling, so we scheduled another appointment. At the beginning of the next appointment, I met with the office clerk and she provided a statement of what the billing would look like with my insurance coverage and recommended that I pay the portion ahead of time (about $50) and that my insurance would cover the rest. I paid the $50 and got the filling and went home. I then started receiving bills from the office and just figured it was because the insurance was taking a while to pay them because I do not have to pay for preventative care on this plan and already paid the deductible for the filling. Dr. Lemons office then called me a few months later and said that I needed to pay the bill, at which time I explained my situation and how my insurance was supposed to cover the rest. The lady who called me told me that Dr. Lemons was not a preferred in-network provider and that is why my insurance didn't cover the costs as was expected. I explained to her that I would not have gone to see Dr. Lemons had I known he wasn't in-network and that is why I specifically asked before scheduling the appointment. She told me that I still needed to pay that I should've checked myself with my insurance company. I told her that I did check when I asked their employee was told he was and I, as a consumer should be able to trust what his employee said. She would still not budge on the matter so I told her that I would like the manager to call me. The manager called and I explained my situation and she said she would talk to Dr. Lemons and get back to me. Today she called and told me that Dr. Lemons said I still needed to pay the amount owed regardless of what his employee had told me. I promptly paid the bill and now will be posting my experience on all social media platforms to warn my fellow consumers to not trust what his office says about him being an in-network provider on your insurance plan and that you should check for yourself. I have canceled all of my future appointments and will switch to a dental practice that will honor what their employees tell their clients.

Appointments are routinely changed, communication is disorganized, and no one seems to know what anyone else is doing. One appointment that I believed was a routine cleaning somehow turned into a 2 1/2-hour ordeal with no advance explanation. On another occasion, I was prescribed medication that should have been started before my procedure, but the prescription wasn't called in. The event that finally destroyed my confidence happened when I went in to have a chipped tooth repaired. Instead of fixing the damaged tooth, they worked on the one next to it and ended up cracking the base of the original chipped tooth. When the anesthetic wore off, the pain became so severe that I ended up in the emergency room. The result was thousands of dollars in additional treatment that never should have happened. The administrative side has been just as bad. They billed me directly for services but never submitted the claim to my insurance, leaving me to sort out a mess that should have been handled by their office. After waiting weeks for permanent crowns, I took time off work for the installation appointment. While I was driving there, the office called to say they had an emergency patient and couldn't see me. They sent me to another office later that afternoon, requiring me to take even more time off work. When I arrived, the COO apologized and informed me there had been no emergency at all. The dentist at the original office had simply decided not to complete my appointment. Being told one thing by the scheduling staff and something entirely different by management was the final straw. I canceled every remaining appointment that day. The irony? A week later, the same office that mishandled my care, my insurance, and my time called to remind me about a cleaning appointment they apparently forgot I had already canceled. Everyone understands that emergencies happen. Mistakes can happen too. What is much harder to accept is repeated poor communication, questionable scheduling practices, billing errors, and a pattern of wasting patients' time while expecting them to simply accept it. I cannot recommend this practice to anyone looking for reliable, organized, or trustworthy dental care. Honestly I think the one star rating is gracious...

My daughter loves going there too because Kimmy, Terry and Dr. Stern are very friendly and make the experience an enjoyable one that isn't masked by video games and toys. All of a sudden every time I went to the dentist I had cavities, need crowns etc. My most recent trip they told me I had a cavity back on my molar that needs to be filled. I said to Dr Patel, that I just had that filled by Dr Kim on my prior visit. She insisted that it was different, but I remember it because I endured the pain to get it filled. Upon my return trip for the filling, Dr Patel stated it was 2 cavities needed to be filled?!! I was like all of a sudden it is 2 cavities when my estimate stated only 1. Dr Patel started drilling away and about 30 mins in she stopped drilling and said to me, I am doing my best but the cavity is in between my back molar and the adjacent tooth. She also stated it could possible need a root canal if the filling doesn't work. I said I came to fill 1 cavity that turned into 2 cavities and now you are saying possible a root canal ?? Then I rolled my tongue across the area and was SHOCKED to feel my molar bored out so much that was there any tooth left?? I asked her why she bored out, what felt like my whole tooth, so much of my tooth and she stated because of the cavity touching 2 teeth. Right then I knew this was the exact area where Dr. Kim tried to fill. I told her that Dr Kim must have done it wrong, because she is telling me the cavity was underneath the filling. Common sense tells you the cavity wasn't done right the first time. So she continued drilling and about 1 1/2 hours later I left with swollen lip,do to the assistant stretching my mouth so far, and a prognosis of a possible root canal if this filling doesn't work. A couple of months later I went to a different dentist, for my 2nd cleaning for the year,and he tells me that my tooth needs a root canal. Now facing a $3000.00 root canal when this new dentist looked at the tooth she told me she could not do a root canal because my tooth was FRACTURED and needed to be pulled!!! She stated the previous dentist took out so much of the tooth that it fractured and could not be saved. So they pulled my right molar. Now this is my steak chewing tooth and now I need a $5000.00 implant!!!!! If you value your teeth do NOT go to Hamilton Mill Dental Associates because they will nickel and dime you to death and possible fracture your teeth!!! I had a crown come out from them and they couldn't see me for three days to fix it and then told me you should never go this long to get a replacement....I said that y'all would not work me in. Again Crowns should NOT come off unless they were done incorrectly the first time!! Again another$1500.00!! BEWARE of this office!!!! Stay away!!! Or you will be returning every time you have a cleaning!!!!! Please take my advice!!!! Dr. Patel is too inexperienced to be drilling anything in your mouth and the associates push down so hard with suction that your inside of your mouth will get cut, bruised or torn. He was so kind and compassionate and thoroughly explained the issues ave the procedure he would perform. The procedure ended up being far more intense and difficult than originally anticipated because of the depth of the roots of my sons teeth so Dr Vancil was not able to extract any of the teeth but he instead had to cut out each individual tooth! He made my son feel as comfortable as possible and able to withstand the procedure. ! We are beyond thankful for his expertise and compassion and how he handled every aspect of this whole process! Dr Vancil is the best dentist and we highly recommend him whether you need routine dentistry or have major issues like my son did. His staff is also excellent and represent him so well. I was told that they weren't willing to put another permanent retainer on, and the reasoning seemed sound, so that's fine. They said the plastic, removable, night-time retainers would be $390... I said that's not something I would be interested in because of the price, and they shrugged their shoulders and said "Alright." I don't have experience with the removal process for a permanent retainer, but it was INCREDIBLY painful. I felt like the person performing it was being much rougher than was necessary. When that was done and I went to the front desk, the woman there asked ME how much I was told the removal would cost... I said I didn't know. Then she started talking about the ~$400 cost for the plastic retainers before I politely told her that I had chosen not to purchase those. She then asked me TWICE more if anyone had been able to tell me how much the removal would cost... I was incredibly confused- how should a patient know the exact cost of a procedure better than the staff handling accounting and charges? I walked out dumbstruck and confused.
