I am absolutely disgusted by the actions of Franciscan Health Crown Point. A Black woman in active…read morelabor came to this hospital for help exactly what any human being should be able to rely on a hospital for, only to be turned away by a doctor and a nurse who insisted she "wasn't far enough along" to be admitted. Eight minutes later, she delivered her baby in a car on the side of the road. There is no interpretation of the Hippocratic Oath, or even basic human decency, that justifies refusing care to a woman who is clearly in labor. Since the repeal of Roe v. These medical professionals put both the mother and the newborn in immediate danger through sheer negligence and indifference. This is not a misunderstanding. This is a complete betrayal of the standards and ethics the public expects from healthcare providers. Any hospital that allows this level of malpractice and disregard to happen should be held fully accountable, and the individuals responsible should never be allowed to treat patients again. Both Doctor and the nurse involved deserve prison. Franciscan Health Crown Point showed that they cannot be trusted with the safety of women, Black patients, or newborns. Their actions were reckless, discriminatory, and potentially fatal. Absolutely shameful.

I guess I should be grateful after laying in his own waste for hours, they did come and remove the soiled items before they sent him back.
