The same can be said about the enlightened, like myself, and they'll go out of their way once they've experienced the ChickenJoy, the Jolly Spaghetti and Peach Mango Pie! I was really overjoyed when I discovered that a new Jollibee (with a drive-thru) opened in Edison - it became the closest location to me and moreso convenient because of its close proximity to my workplace as of writing! Although it opened through the pandemic and only served customers exclusively using the drive-thru, I received the same, great jolly experience as I would going inside the restaurant! My recommendation for those who try Jollibee for the first time is to go with a ChickenJoy meal that includes Jolly Spaghetti and to never EVER forget the Peach Mango Pie! On a warmer day, the Pineapple drink with ice really hits the spot! As for the burgers, I recommend the Aloha Burger - it's a simple burger with a sweet sauce and a sweeter pineapple - a simple addition of tropics to the sandwich! To close out my review, I would like to remark on my experience with the restaurant by stating a warning to those who visit this popular fast food chain using the drive-thru: prepare to wait or to make some U-turns around U.S. Highway 1. If there is a large volume of customers waiting for the drive-thru line to progress, the sole entrance may be temporarily closed to prevent traffic buildup on the highway (as there is no dedicated right turn lane for the entrance.) It may be handled by the local police department or coned off by the restaurant staff. Please do not let it be a negative impact to your experience, but, rather, be patient or try visiting this location during off-peak hours (and consider making your large orders online ahead of time - I have just become aware that there is an online ordering system.) Heard about this chain for the longest time, but never got to try it because there is not a restaurant that is close to where I live. This location has recently opened, and I decided to give it a try on the way home from shopping. I was honest with the person behind the drive thru taking orders that it was my first time here, and I had no idea what to order. With his suggestion I ordered a 6 piece bucket, an order of french fries, and 2 peach and mango pies. The chicken is really moist yet crispy. The gravy is really really good! The fries are typical. We ordered rom this place twice. The first time, we ordered the 10 piece chicken bucket, mashed potatoes, adobo rice, palabok, fries, spaghetti and peach mango pie. The second time, we ordered the 6 piece chicken bucket and peach mango pie. Both times they were out of spicy chicken. I've never had philippine food before so i can't comment on authenticity. When I unpacked the food at home, the kids thought we got KFC. The bucket, the packaging, the colors- they all look very similar to KFC. The chicken also has some resemblance to the crispy version of KFC. Unlike KFC, the chicken here is more moist and juicy on the inside and the crispy exterior is better here. The mashed potatoes were just ok. It looked like mashed potatoes made form a box mix (KFC's mashed potato is much better). The adobo rice was really tasty. I was surprised at how much i liked the rice. I couldn't stop myself from eating the entire portion even though I've been avoiding rice these days. The palabok was tasty but it isn't worth getting for the price. The spaghetti has a sweet sauce. I thought it was different and good but the kids avoided it. The fries are not good. Skip this if you can. McDonald's fries are better. I enjoyed the peach mango pie even though nobody else in my family was even willing to try it. I reminds me of the McDonald's apple pie which I haven't had since childhood. The breading is crispy. The filling is a little too sweet with the syrupy, gooey mango filling but i still enjoyed it nonetheless. I think the breading makes it enjoyable. After my first visit, my receipt had a survey which gives you a free mango pie on you next visit. Decided to stop here for a quick bite during a road trip that the bf, our friend, and I had embarked on a few weeks ago. I think this may be the only Jollibee with a drive-through in the tri state area because it was absolutely packed when we got there. There was no dining indoors at the time we had gone, so all orders were to go. We decided, however, to park and order inside, rather than letting our car engine idle. Expect to wait awhile, though, because the place seemed absolutely mobbed. All in all, we waited about 20 minutes from the time we had placed our order to when we had actually gotten our food. The bf got his favorite: their 2 piece chickenjoy with jolly spaghetti. Our friend, who had never had Jollibee before, decided to get their 2 piece chickenjoy with 2 sides. Since I don't even eat meat, I just got their ube pie. Our food came out piping hot, so at least it definitely seemed like things are made to order fresh. We ate in our car, and we all enjoyed our meals, which was our intended purpose of coming by here. If you have the choice of getting their ube pie over their standard peach mango pie, I'd say go for the ube pie! Was super excited to try Jollibee because I had heard so many good things about it. I haven't had a lot of Filipino food in my day and even I know...this ain't it lol. But! as far as filipino fast food goes, Jollibee got rave reviews. My friend and I pulled up in the drivethru and got a couple different things: spicy chicken (took an extra 20 min but SO worth it), aloha burger, mashes potaters, palabok, and some mango pies. Idk if it was because we got a. fresh batch but the spicy chicken was *chef's kiss* and packed a good bit of heat so if you're a wuss then don't bother. The aloha burger was surprisingly really delicious and I'm not even a huge fan of mixing pineapple with savory. My friend said she enjoyed the palabok, but we are both planning on coming back and trying the spaghetti next. Finally, idk why but the mango peach pies were maybe my favorite thing we ate? so weird. I've had Jollibee before but it doesn't count because I didn't know it was Jollibee. So, basically there's a specific way that you need to eat here. You must always get the SPICY chicken and dip that into their gravy. I thought it would be more mind blowing but it wasn't because the chicken was already salty as is. The mash potatoes are a MUST. It pairs so well with the gravy -- although most people bash on the mashed potatoes, i had thoroughly enjoyed it. The Palabok would be something to skip. If you've never had the clear noodles in your life, I would suggest to get it to know what it tastes like. But this could've been better. At first bite, it was so delicious (not sure if it was because i was soooo hungry or if it was really delicious lol) but after a couple of tastes later, it became redundant and I was good. I instantly regretted eating it all in one sitting and wished I had ordered their infamous banana ketchup spaghetti. We finished the night with their mango peach pie -- THIS IS A MUST. why? because after all of that salty food, this pie just sends you away to heaven. The soda was good Because we were hungry and the aroma was inviting we stopped in Jollibee on Rt. 1 in Edison, NJ. I ordered 2 pc white meat only to find out they did have any white meat so you sell me the greasy tasteless leg and thigh. They use dark meat (legs and thighs) which make the chicken very tender, gravy is provided as dipping sauce instead of ketchup which works well. We also wanted to try halo-halo but was told it is a seasonal item which is not available right now. Only the drive through open right now but we were able to move through it rather quickly. The food is good, however, it is a very small location and if the drive through line extends out of the parking lot onto Rt 1, you will be waved away only to circle back and try your luck again. The security guy that manages the line is super nice and tries his absolute hardest to fit you in, but this place is just so packed every time! One time I circled 3 times and no luck in getting into the drive through line. Came back a week later and made it into the line on the 2nd try. Was the food worth it? Not for me - this would be a fine option if there was no line and it was convenient fast food but not for the hassle. The fried chicken was not better than Popeyes (it was very hot with a unique spice and freshly fried but it was not at crispy). The fries were good - crispy and thin (not seasoned) - a better version of McDonald's fries. The spaghetti is unique to Jollibee and was tasty but def something easy to make at home (has a sweeter tomato sauce). The peach mango pie was very good (imagine a better, crispy peach mango version of McDonald's applie pie). The pineapple drink is good but is very sweet - tastes very much like Dole Pineapple Juice. Also I ordered the spicy fried chicken but ended up receiving the regular - pretty much impossible to fix once you've left the parking lot. Decent food, the fried chicken does have a unique spice to its breading, they give you a lot of gravy, the fries are crispy and the food is freshly hot; prices are good and service is fine. The one time I let my wife pickup surprise surprise a missing item. This is actually straight up unacceptable and I wonder how many people this happens to per day. I went to Jollibee expecting to be able to order some of my normal favs from other Jollibees that I've been to (Jersey city) but was disappointed to find out that this location has a limited menu. You can still get the typically spaghetti and the chicken joy meals but there was no option for Palabok, yumburgers, or even the Halo-Halo dessert. Since its opening, Jollibee edison has been on my (Filipino) husband's radar to go and support... but its been crazy long line busy for months. Crazy enough for police presence there to monitor the crowds. Finally decided to surprise him on his birthday, and thankfully they are partnered with door dash to order ahead of time. Set up for 530pm pick up time, but the food was prepared an hour early (kinda annoyed that it could have been warmer), so it was more than ready when I arrived. They have the drive through lanes set up to optimize traffic, and still alot of people waiting in their cars to order. Never seen fast food this popular since in-and-out on the west coast. Their sweet spaghetti is what you'd expect for fast food as well as their loco moco style burger patties... but their chicken (joy) is actually pretty good, even for next day leftovers after a quick toasting. The opening of Jollibee at this location near my home is a sight to see. The long lines are never ending. You will be redirected to circle around if your car is sticking out onto oncoming traffic from Rt. 1 N. My favorite thing on their entire menu is their pineapple quencher. I would get on the long line just for this. It's super refreshing and not too sweet. I think it complements the meal very well. After going thru Rt 1 traffic, and I finally parked, there was a sign that said Drive Thru Only. The signed is only posted by the door. I wish the sign was bigger! Also, why is drive thru only? When I did finally get to the box to order, I was told they don't serve the palabok or the hamburgers. This place opened up on 6/6/2020 and today is 6/12/2020 and the wait is still long(40-45 mins.) considering it's a weekday @11am. There is a cop standing right by when you pull in and if there's enough room for you to pull in without sticking out on rt 1, he'll let you in. If not, he will tell you to keep on going straight and make a u-turn to see if the line had moved up and if not, you'll have to keep making u-turns 'til there's space for you to get into their parking lot. When you finally get to pull in, there are 2 lines and 2 people walking up to your car taking your order and you pay when you pick up your order at the drive-thru window. The 2 lanes merges into 1 lane as you get closer and there would be another cop standing there directing you where to go. Food wise, chicken is juicy and crispy! Spaghetti is good(for the non filipinos, the spaghetti sauce has a sweet taste to it and has ground pork, minced ham, chopped hotdog, and cheese). The peach mango pie is also good, crispy on the outside and warm, gooey filling on the inside. I was bummed out that they didn't have the ube(purple yam/taro) pie though. UPDATE 07/23/2020: I believe their full menu is available now! On this day, I was able to buy mango peach pies, burgersteak, and palabok unlike back in June. I think the crust of the mango peach pie from Jersey City is better than the one from here but all the other items we've tried are of the same quality. The line on a Thursday at 5:30 PM wasn't too bad and there was no traffic. I ordered a lot so I had to park in the designated area for about 15 mins for my food. The items I recommend the most: mango peach pie, chickenjoy, adobo rice, jolly spaghetti, and their chicken sandwich (Popeyes watch out lol)! Review from June: I was intimidated by the idea of the super long lines that other Yelpers and friends have told me about. Surprisingly, during lunch on a weekday, I only waited 15 - 20 mins! They have an efficient system with the lines. There is police there to direct you to which of the two lines to line up in, and will ask you to take a U-turn and come back if the lines are clogging Route 1. An employee will give you a paper menu to look at before you actually order. Something really important to note is that the items available now are limited, despite being on the menu they give you. Palabok and burger steaks are coming in the next few months. Sadly, there were no mango peach pies today (06/18/20), but will be there Saturday. The things that are available already include sides (rice, fries, corn, etc), chickenjoys, jolly spaghetti, and pineapple quencher. Looking at the paper menu, there are more items available at the Jersey City location even if the unavailable items in Edison were available. In Jersey City, you can get the jolly hotdog, pearl coolers, and more. I ordered a pineapple quencher, jolly spaghetti, fries, and a deluxe chicken sandwich. If you're not used to filipino spaghetti, keep in mind that the jolly spaghetti is on the sweeter side, but don't let that deter you from trying it! I enjoyed the pineapple quencher, but I wish it was not as sweet. Ordering this drink with the spaghetti will overwhelm you with sweetness. The fries taste best when they're hot and fresh. They're not too salty and they had the perfect amount of crunch. I was really pleasantly surprised by the chicken sandwich. Dare I say it was as good as the Popeyes and maybe even Chick-fil-A sandwich with how juicy and plentiful the chicken was. If they made a spicy version, it would be bomb. The deluxe version comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise. The mayonnaise isn't too special but still good. I know the super limited offerings is mostly due to the pandemic. I hope that in the future the menu here will eventually reach the level of that in Jersey City. The drive thru is amazing and very convenient but I wish the parking lot was bigger so that I can park here and eat with friends until indoor eating is allowed again.
