If you are lucky enough to live in this part of the world you can really appreciate how unusual that is. The next day, Rick was running a bit later than anticipated and he actually texted me to let me know that (another shocker right?!). When he arrived he was dressed professionally and went straight to work. He had our hot water tank replaced in 2 hrs! And here's another pleasant surprise: our invoice on the hot water tank was LOWER than what he quoted. We ended up adding a new pan so the total was within $100 of the quoted price even with this added piece. It's so hard to find good help in this region. Trust when you call Q you're getting a professional, timely experience at uber competitive prices. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. In fact, I took a stack of cards to let my family & friends know.

So I rebooked for three weeks later, another morning off work, get a call from the guy who was supposed to do the service stating he will "be right there" I live in Dufferin....an hour later he finally shows up saying "oh there was an accident on Hillside drive" It was a bunch of BS and lying: there was no accident on Hillside that morning - he was getting breakfast at Timmies....I would never use this company again - total lack of credibility. We hired Roto-Rooter to install our septic and a pump for our well…read more The original quote for the well pump was on par with other quotes we had received, but the septic quote was ridiculously low ($18k). We went back to Spencer and told him that this quote was what our lender would be using for our budget, so it needed to be on the high side if anything. We asked him to assume the worst case scenario at every step of the way (because our property is mostly rock) and come back with a new quote. We also told him that as he was the only one willing to start right away, we would hire him. He came back to us with a quote of $24k, which we gave to our lender and we hired him. After months of delays a crew finally got started, but when we got to within a couple of days til completion, Spencer approached us and said that unless we signed a form allowing for an increase of $5-6k, they would stop work. We signed the form because we were basically held hostage by the threat of not having septic (we had no money left in our budget to hire another contractor). When all was said and done, the cost of the septic had skyrocketed from the original quote of $18k to a soul crushing $33k. The cost of our well pump installation also went up by by about $2k. So we are now over budget by more than $12k, with other contractors to pay - contractors who were able to stay within their respective budgets. We are tapped out with our lenders, we have drained every penny from savings and maxed our credit cards, but Roto-Rooter has left us financially devastated. I feel like Spencer is a con man who had the nerve to tell us that he didn't make any money off us, and Roto Rooter is a criminal organization. I'm in the process of looking into our rights with respect the hostage crises and hoping like hell that we can sue them for the overages and get that money back.... We will never hire Roto-Rooter for anything again, and we certainly would never recommend them to a friend or acquaintance (maybe an enemy).
