The cake and icing in both were fresh, and had good flavor and texture. The flavors were accurate to description. There was a small reservoir of flavoring that extended from the bottom of the icing layer into the cake. That's always a nice touch in my book. My one note rating-wise, is that the cupcakes were not as ornate as the top tier CT cupcake places I've been to. Still tasty though. After keeping them refrigerated as required they were fluffy and delicious. The fillings and toppings so rich and fresh! They disappeared as if by magic! I sampled the lemon cream, Boston cream and the carrot cake. But the menu is quite large and price points vary by size and "fanciness." You're sure to find something delicious for an event or just to have with a cup of tea. They make cakes as well from small size to all size wedding cakes. All of my interactions with him have left a bad taste in my mouth. He is so rude, dismissive and acts like he's doing you a favor by letting him make a cake for you. It sounds like they make delicious cakes here, but I never got the chance to try any. We tried on several occasions to set up a cake tasting appointment and a meeting to go over the cake we ordered. Just giving them a deposit ended up being so difficult--they never answered the phone and half the time their emails were returned to sender. I probably had to call five or six times just to connect with him on his cell to take the deposit. He would email me windows of time to make the call and then he wouldn't even answer. Their store is closed 90% of the time it is listed as being open. We also found out that the cake we ordered is actually being canceled and we got no explaination at all. Patticakes never even contacted us themselves and we only found through other means that they canceled all their orders for the summer. If we hadn't heard through the grapevine, we could've ended up a few weeks away from our event and not had our cake! Hopefully getting my deposit back will be easier than it was trying to pay it. And hopefully another bakery in the area will be available so close to my event. I don't know whats going on with this business, but its terribly run. I'd steer clear of it and find somewhere else to get a quality cake from. Doug will be the first to tell you (because he did) that no cake I get will be better than his. But at least those other cakes will be delivered.

I also got two of their sea salt chocolate chip cookies to cope with my guilt of forgetting a cake (haha!) and they were insanely good. Chewy and chocolate-y with the perfect amount of thin, flakey sea salt. My favorite cupcake was the hot fudge sundae cupcake. So so good. Magic cookie bars are one of my favorite sweet treats so I had to buy one (at a high cost of $7!) It's heavy and dense but the flavor... the crust was inconsistent. Too thick and too think at points. The taste... it tastes like an M&M (with a slight hint of coconut.) I could have saved myself a lot of money just buying a bag of M&M's. But I don't like M&M's! See the problem? (And there were small M&M's on the top which is ok but it was overpowering.) I also had to try something cupcake related right? My daughter got a huge slice of funfetti cake. I had one layer of the cake. I can share the frosting was thick and dense. I like it sweet and melts in my mouth. Thus was not that. The cake itself was dense too. I was my cake fluffy.
