All of my interactions with him have left a bad taste in my mouth. He is so rude, dismissive and acts like he's doing you a favor by letting him make a cake for you. It sounds like they make delicious cakes here, but I never got the chance to try any. We tried on several occasions to set up a cake tasting appointment and a meeting to go over the cake we ordered. Just giving them a deposit ended up being so difficult--they never answered the phone and half the time their emails were returned to sender. I probably had to call five or six times just to connect with him on his cell to take the deposit. He would email me windows of time to make the call and then he wouldn't even answer. Their store is closed 90% of the time it is listed as being open. We also found out that the cake we ordered is actually being canceled and we got no explaination at all. Patticakes never even contacted us themselves and we only found through other means that they canceled all their orders for the summer. If we hadn't heard through the grapevine, we could've ended up a few weeks away from our event and not had our cake! Hopefully getting my deposit back will be easier than it was trying to pay it. And hopefully another bakery in the area will be available so close to my event. I don't know whats going on with this business, but its terribly run. I'd steer clear of it and find somewhere else to get a quality cake from. Doug will be the first to tell you (because he did) that no cake I get will be better than his.
