I came here because I was to attend an event...which I missed. Because I was unaware of how many different entrances to separate area there were. I had driven around for a minute at the one entrance, parked and got out to walk around a bit. This area had the ballfields and a few trails. The next entrance up took me back to an area where pavilions are located and I could see that this was well used as each pavilion was in use. This reminded me of all my family reunions I had attended. What I did not know was that there was one more entrance further up the road that I did not go down. More pavilions in this area and I am told that it is a bit more secluded. What I did like was that you could drive into the area and park in one of the many lots further in and get out and explore. The tennis area was a surprise to me.

The camp is tucked back off from the main post and all sorts of wildlife is meandering around. There is tons of turkeys, owls, foxes, skunks, whistle pigs, osprey, hawks, and of course the notorious raccoon. Throwing our trash away at the dumpster area had turned into quite the affair during the evenings. When you approach the dumpster you can hear them scurrying around inside the dumpster just wreaking havoc on the trash bags to get to their delicious content. You got to quickly throw your trash in because they come flying out once you pop the dumpster lid open and scuttle across the top of the fence. They frequent the dumpster so much they have a beaten path leading from the woods to the dumpster. Our two dogs really looked forward to the evening trash/dumpster walk and would work themselves into a frenzy knowing they are about to see and smell a raccoon. Others folks may not find this amusing but I sure did get a kick out of it. The park itself is well maintained and quiet. There is not a lot of amenities right in the park but a short walk there is a playground area and a small dog park. At the main office you can rent all sorts of equipment to include kayaks and canoes. There is a fishing pier right in the park and another one just a short walk away.

For the cost, this camp has a hard time answering the phone or being responsive. The rules tend to…read moreget authoritarian. There is a circle of parking spots you can't park in or you'll get ticketed. What are parking spaces for?!? Your kids can't play outside without an adult guarding them from longtime campers,that are going against policy themselves, that will harass your kids. People wash their dog hair covered items in the washing machines and the campground never cleans them. Laundry is EXPENSIVE for that wet dog smell all your cloths will have. The raccoons get trash everywhere and the office will send out passive-aggressive fliers about it. There is no shade and you'll cook inside your camper during the summer no matter how many A/Cs you have. The positives are you are on Fort Belvoir. It's a pretty location. The showers are nice (the men's smell like urine because men have bad aim). Not much to recommend. Go to Pohick Park. It's cheaper and more helpful from the front office.

We stayed here as part of an RV event over Labor Day Weekend. I had never been to an event like…read morethis before and was a little shocked when informed that we would be boon-docking. We ended having a great time and will likely do again (with more planning and preparation). As for the site, Coles Point looks like it's past it's expiration. It's right off the Potomac River (great!), but it needs a lot of work. There must of been nearly 100 RV units on this property, all boon-docking. (1) The bathroom facilities need to be upgraded (2 showers per sex), the water pressure was non-existent, and the showers were not cleaned. The water was hot, at least. My husband said the door on the men's shower did not even close properly (the door was too big!). I did not look into the toilet/sink section. (2) The storefront needs more supplies. They had some fishing tackle, but no fishing line. A few snacks, but no basic staples that an RV'er might need: oil, sugar, salt, paper towels, paper plates, etc. They did appear to sell lots of ice. I would suggest propane too. (3) Someone said the restaurant used to be a big thing. Now closed. We went to Walmart and was a 45-min trip one-way. There is nothing in the area to eat or drink for miles. If available, I'm sure the RV'ers would gladly spend their money so as to not leave, but with no offerings, there is not much to recommend the resort. (4) Due to the size of the event, planning should have been done to provide additional dumpsters to accommodate the amount of trash that was generated or have a mid-event dumpster pick-up. All the dumpsters were overflowing when everyone pulled out. (5) The actual campground. People have been living there and in all such places, it begins to look run-down. It was described to me as "ghetto". People who camp don't generally want to RV beside people who live in an RV park as it becomes truly "lived in", especially in a expensive unit. It was overgrown, the structures were falling apart or needed to be painted, and it looked "bad". I hope to see changes if we return next year, which we hopefully will. Good luck to the new owners because the site can be great for travelers.

The bath/shower rooms are individual with dead bolts, the staff are nice, it's wooded but sunny too, there's a store, some rentable small houses that also have a RV pad, and from what I've seen one central dumpster. I'd give it five stars but at $55 a night with no duration discounts they charge $1650 a month when FamCamps just raised their monthly charge to $800.

I was here to do a PT test for an applicant. The indoor track is 10 laps for 1 mi. It's not too big but it will do. Oh and it's also got a hot tub And a little cafe where you can buy drinks and snacks.
