I am happy to say that the nice folks at Gerber Collison in Brunswick recommended Bob and his staff at Barnes Auto, in Brunswick. Years ago I had an older car towed to Bob. It needed a new fuel pump. I wasn't going to drop the gas tank on a gravel driveway. Bob called me up prior to replacing the pump. He informed me that the PCM (power control module, the main computer) was bad. And since that part wasn't available he suggested scraping the car. A Saturn station wagon with approximately 295,000 miles had served me well. Lots of other places would have been happy to charge me hundreds of dollars to replace the fuel pump and then call me with the bad news. I recommend Bob and his staff at Barnes Auto to anyone looking for an honest shop where INTEGRITY is more important than a making a quick dollar. Thank you very much Bob, Tammy and the techs in back. These guys shouldn't be trusted. They fail to take responsibility for botched repairs…read more In my case after we spent over $1,500 fixing an oil leak and replacing the timing belt/water pump. We repeatedly asked them to give the car a once over. It is a new used purchase and we were needing to decide how much to invest in the car for repairs. They failed to give the car a proper once over and told us that the car was decent and just needed a replacement of cam seals, timing belt and water pump. $1,300 dollars later the car was still leaking oil! The repairs did nothing to fix the problem, which was the oil leak. I presume they made an assumption of where the oil was coming from and that they did not check the variable valve timing...which is where the car was leaking oil. It ended up costing us another $1k to fix the repairs because of their, I presume, negligence. On top of replacing the variable valve timing we had to replace the timing belt again because it was covered in oil, which cause the belt to breakdown. Just to be safe we replaced all of the seals they said they replaced. My experience with them is not unique. I know of one other person who ended up with a dead car after Dixie Dan's replaced this persons timing belt. The belt busted. And, like usual, they failed to take responsibility. Over the phone in discussion about the situation with one of the Dan's he said something like "you can't blame the doctor if they don't catch what's wrong." But, you can.

Yes, they'll work us in. Praise God, thank you Jesus. It was the alternator. Part was delivered locally in short order. Very efficient. Very hospitable. Clean bathrooms. In and out within an hour. Amazing. To be treated above and beyond. There is mercy in the world. I will surely recommend to anyone. I will surely use them again if I'm in the area. The car was having problems starting and we thought it needed a new battery. They said to bring it by so we said we would be there in 15 minutes. We got the car there at 3:00 PM on a Monday. They never looked at it. Tuesday come along and passes and they never looked at the car. Wednesday morning came and we told them we would come by and get the car. Luckily the car did start and we took it to a reputable mechanic who did look at Wednesday and said it simply needed a new battery. Car is fixed and back. This place lacks communication and should have said they were too busy to look at the car. The car is needed to get to work and back. Would not recommend for these reasons.
