People think the worst and since I was…read morea patient of Dr. Johnson this year, I want everyone to know that going to a periodontist is not all that bad!. I had sedation gum surgery and felt NO pain. There were several follow up appointments and I have to say that from the first visit to the last, I felt like I was well taken care of. The staff is wonderful. The Periodontist was fantastic. I just can't believe that I had dental gum surgery and it never hurt. So, don't delay, call Dr Johnson and meet him and his staff. They will take good care of you!

A big thank you to Dr. Darby. From the first step in the door to the last step out, every aspect…read moreof my visit with Dr Darby and staff was exceptional. The people at the front office were very professional, friendly and communicative. I had a vertical fracture that was quite painful. The first dentist I saw nearly sent me through the roof during the initial exam and made me terrified to consider treatment there. I then went to Dr. Darby and that pain free experience was like night and day. I also liked that Dr Darby was very thorough and spent time explaining the issues, discussing my options and making sure I felt completely comfortable. My husband and I spend most of the year in California but if I need any other dental procedure like the one I had, I'll be back in Ocala to see Dr. Darby.

Well I'll start by saying, or at least venture to say that I believe most people do not like to go…read moreto dentists. I'm no exception; but there is an exceptional place that I've been going to that has alleviated any preconceived fears of dentists, for me, since I been going to them. I appreciate going to Shuayb Dental. The staff is and has always been courteous, professional and friendly. The dentist and professional staff thoroughly explains any treatment plans and takes their time to answer questions. Further their place is immaculate. To be honest, I can't seem to remember the correct spelling and pronunciation of the name SHUAYB to save my life but that's just me. Been here several times over the years and had to look at it again just now, to spell it correctly in this review. :) Nevertheless, when it comes to dentists; this is the place to go and you'll be feeling good and pleasantly smiling about them when you do!

My insurance company sent me a list of local dentist for me to choose from. I'm so glad I did my homework and found the BEST in the area. The Shuayb Dental Institute in CRYSTAL RIVER IS THE BEST! Apparently, there are several Shuayb Dental Institute around here but the Crystal River location is terrific and the dentist is HOT so it makes it a whole lot easier to go to the dentist. They were thorough, took X-rays and I spoke to the dentist. I am now scheduled for a cleaning. I'm looking forward to a long relationship! Quick, thorough, and super nice (and gorgeous) staff goes a long way when going to the dentist!

Nice sized waiting room that's clean and comfortable facing the front office staff! It even is kid friendly with a little kid's area that had a kiddie sized table with several little chairs that looked like teeth! The staff is exceptionally patient oriented and very knowledgeable about procedures and co payments. Exam rooms are decent sized and equipment looks up to date and well maintained. The Dentist had a great bedside manner and explained everything that was wrong with my molar - why I was in pain and that before it was extracted I had to be placed on antibiotics because I still had a residual infection and once that was cleared I would be referred to a oral surgeon. I was very pleased with this experience and will use this practice as my Dentist from now on. A much better experience than my last dentist!

I was spending more money on things we weren't sure even needed to actually be done. I got fillings that botched my mouth and caused me pain and extra sensitivity in which I am just now getting fixed. I adore the front desk ladies so so much but they are not enough to make me continue to go to this office. I followed Dr. Tran to her new office and am finally getting proper care.

Where to start, had what was left of my bottom teeth extracted, had to tell them more novacain, got…read morethat, while the dentist fought getting one tooth loose, she slipped with the tool and it gouge the inside of my gum, I almost walked out after that, the assistant who should be keeping water and blood from filling my mouth turns away and I'm trying to get her attention because I was about to either swallow it or spit it out, the assistant was not happy that I was trying to get her attention by touching her shoulder. That day cost me $2800, for 5 or 6 teeth pulled, glad I had an upper denture already. Fast forward to getting both upper and lower dentures thru my insurance, upper fits great, lower is anything but symmetrical in the shape, biting down on some foods it just flips around my mouth, when it was being made and I was going there to check fitment they didn't let me look at it, I told them where spots were that didn't feel good or right. Finally I go to get the dentures and they have sign for them that I received them before they were even in my mouth. Now these are not the first dentures I have had so I know they might need some adjustments, I had to use a nail file to take care of problem spots, not the first time doing that, I know not to take to much material away. They said if there were any issues with them they could realign them, I don't think they can realign the bottom denture due to not having even material, I still need to make an appointment to see what they can or are willing to do to making the bottom better, definitely very disappointed in the quality of my lower denture. I attached 4 pictures to show how uneven and not symmetrical the bottom denture is

I am a patient over 70 years of age with excellent long-term oral health (no crowns, bridges,…read moreimplants, or major work--only standard fillings) and no history of pain, sensitivity, or dental symptoms. We recently moved to Citrus Springs from Stuart, FL. In December 2025, I scheduled a visit to Sage Dental Dunnellon for my routine preventive cleaning, which is fully covered twice per year by my insurance and THE SOLE PURPOSE OF MY APPOINTMENT. After X-rays and an exam (showing no issues), the dentist recommended crowns on two teeth as "preventive." A similar crown recommendation was made 20 years ago by another dentist and declined because it was unnecessary. I explicitly stated at the start that I would only accept treatments 100% covered by insurance to avoid any out-of-pocket costs. Staff confirmed the crowns and cleaning would be fully covered. They also suggested (non-covered) antibiotic shots as OPTIONAL, not mandatory. The receptionist urged me to proceed with the crowns to use my remaining 2025 benefits before the year-end reset. So, I agreed to have the crowns and scheduled two different appointments, one for the crowns and the other for the cleaning. an During the crown visit, I was asked for an extra $300 OUT OF POCKET if I wanted the crowns done the same day. I declined and waited until the lab got the crowns. At the follow-up cleaning appointment, the hygienist claimed I needed DEEP CLEANING and quoted $100 OUT OF POCKET. She initially called it a "suggestion" and "not mandatory". When I refused the extra charge and requested my covered standard preventive cleaning, she refused to perform it unless I paid for the deep cleaning. This is the only practice that has ever recommended deep cleaning for me--both at this location and previously at Sage Dental in Stuart, Florida. I left without receiving my covered cleaning. This experience was misleading and unacceptable. I was pressured into crowns using year-end benefits, then denied the primary covered service I came for unless I paid extra. This appears to be a deliberate pattern of upselling rather than honest, patient-centered care.
