Where to start, had what was left of my bottom teeth extracted, had to tell them more novacain, got that, while the dentist fought getting one tooth loose, she slipped with the tool and it gouge the inside of my gum, I almost walked out after that, the assistant who should be keeping water and blood from filling my mouth turns away and I'm trying to get her attention because I was about to either swallow it or spit it out, the assistant was not happy that I was trying to get her attention by touching her shoulder. That day cost me $2800, for 5 or 6 teeth pulled, glad I had an upper denture already. Fast forward to getting both upper and lower dentures thru my insurance, upper fits great, lower is anything but symmetrical in the shape, biting down on some foods it just flips around my mouth, when it was being made and I was going there to check fitment they didn't let me look at it, I told them where spots were that didn't feel good or right. Finally I go to get the dentures and they have sign for them that I received them before they were even in my mouth. Now these are not the first dentures I have had so I know they might need some adjustments, I had to use a nail file to take care of problem spots,not the first time doing that, I know not to take to much material away. They said if there were any issues with them they could realign them, I don't think they can realign the bottom denture due to not having even material, I still need to make an appointment to see what they can or are willing to do to making the bottom better, definitely very disappointed in the quality of my lower denture. I am a patient over 70 years of age with excellent long-term oral health (no crowns, bridges, implants, or major work--only standard fillings) and no history of pain, sensitivity, or dental symptoms. We recently moved to Citrus Springs from Stuart, FL. In December 2025, I scheduled a visit to Sage Dental Dunnellon for my routine preventive cleaning, which is fully covered twice per year by my insurance and THE SOLE PURPOSE OF MY APPOINTMENT. After X-rays and an exam (showing no issues), the dentist recommended crowns on two teeth as "preventive." A similar crown recommendation was made 20 years ago by another dentist and declined because it was unnecessary. I explicitly stated at the start that I would only accept treatments 100% covered by insurance to avoid any out-of-pocket costs. Staff confirmed the crowns and cleaning would be fully covered. They also suggested (non-covered) antibiotic shots as OPTIONAL, not mandatory. The receptionist urged me to proceed with the crowns to use my remaining 2025 benefits before the year-end reset. So, I agreed to have the crowns and scheduled two different appointments, one for the crowns and the other for the cleaning. an During the crown visit, I was asked for an extra $300 OUT OF POCKET if I wanted the crowns done the same day. I declined and waited until the lab got the crowns. At the follow-up cleaning appointment, the hygienist claimed I needed DEEP CLEANING and quoted $100 OUT OF POCKET. She initially called it a "suggestion" and "not mandatory". When I refused the extra charge and requested my covered standard preventive cleaning, she refused to perform it unless I paid for the deep cleaning. This is the only practice that has ever recommended deep cleaning for me--both at this location and previously at Sage Dental in Stuart, Florida. I left without receiving my covered cleaning. This experience was misleading and unacceptable. I was pressured into crowns using year-end benefits, then denied the primary covered service I came for unless I paid extra. This appears to be a deliberate pattern of upselling rather than honest, patient-centered care. read more

Terrible. This was my third visit and I hoped it would be a charm but was the opposite. Appointment was for Annual check up and 6 month cleaning. A hygienist sat me down and started pushing on my gums with a measuring instrument. When she was done she left and came back to tell me I needed a deep cleaning. My medicare wouldn't cover part of the costs so she wanted to get $$ up front from me. I asked to please just have a regular cleaning and I would get a second opinion and she said she was not allowed to clean my teeth because the A.D.A. would not allow it. As 55-year-old mentally disabled woman, with severe anxiety disorder, anaphobia of dentist after doing my process, when I did get to walk in the door place felt warm. So I went back and then I talked to the lady at the counter and I'm sorry I forgot her name. She's not the same one. That's helping me so much as the dentist is helping me. So much, II have insurance. And you know, of course more than the insurance. So, you know, I left, of course, I wasn't tears because your teeth and your life people are so mean to me, I can't go out. I sit in the corner of my house every day because I have no teeth. Because people are rude to me, they treat me like I'm I don't. Yeah, anywhere. There's Dennis has tried to help me. Try to help me and I just want people who are scared to know that this is a place that is clean and calm and the atmosphere will make you feel welcome. Updating my previous review. I researched other Yelp reviews of Sage Dental at other Florida locations. It appears that the upsell scam for "deep cleaning" is a frequent customer complaint. Sage demands payment for this added procedure before they proceed with normal preventative procedures that are fully covered by most insurance companies (like bi-annual cleaning). If you not pay upfront, they will not do the other covered procedures. I will be filing a complaint with the Florida Board of Health about this scam. I have fired Sage Dental and will find a new, ethical, Dentist. Please be warned about this company. I would rate a zero if that was possible. read more

I would rather give a 0 rating. my wife was scheduled for routine X-rays & clng. The teeth need DEEP cling she was told. Insurance wasn't going to cover this? Then she was told she needed $28k in root canals, crowns, etc. Her previous dentist in MN 8 months ago gave her teeth & oral hygiene an A+. And she was not feeling any pain, etc, but the SAGE deep cleaning was Awful & she still has very painful gums after 2 weeks. I recently went to Sage Dental, Dunnellon, FL, for a simple exam and cleaning. I am entitled to two preventative cleanings per year under my insurance plan. I have no issues at all with my teeth. The exam was pretty normal, but they tried to upsell me right away with extra x-rays. When it came time for the cleaning, they refused to provide a routine cleaning. They tried to upsell me once again with a $155.00 "deep" cleaning. I have been going to a dentist twice a year for my entire life and have never had, or been told that I need a "deep" cleaning. I requested just a routine cleaning and again they refused. They stated that if I didn't get the $155.00 "deep" cleaning they wouldn't clean my teeth at all. The "deep" cleaning should be a recommendation from the dentist, not mandatory. I find this kind of treatment, or lack thereof, to be very unprofessional and unethical if a dentist would rather not clean a patient's teeth at all if they don't agree to a $155.00 "deep" cleaning. I also spoke to the receptionist and the reception supervisor, and I was told "no cleaning unless I agree to the deep cleaning." What an absolute ripoff, and in my opinion a SCAM. EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT and SERVICE. Find yourself a more professional dentist that is more concerned with the patient's interest and requests than increasing the bottom line. If you are looking for a good dentist go somewhere else. They messed up my partial, paid $800 &can't use it. They lied to me numerous times. They said they couldn't do any more for me. The people who work there seem to change to new ones, even the dentist. They also got water all over me making me choke and hurt me trying to put my partial in, shoving it in my mouth. I just started going here because they accept my insurance. I had an extraction done and unfortunately half way through, I could feel pain and tried to warn them ahead of time that I need extra numbing due to this issue prior. I could literally feel the sutures being threaded and tried to let them know, but they kept going and didn't acknowledge me. Now they called me asking to schedule another appointment for more treatment because they have 25% off right now. I asked them about getting scheduled for a routine cleaning and I was told that I have to do a deep cleaning with them and that they refuse to do a normal cleaning on me which is absolutely ridiculous and wrong. Regardless if I have signs of gingivitis or not, you don't try to force that onto patients/customers. This is the second chain dentist that has done this to me. I've been in healthcare for 18 years now and this is bad practice. It should always be the patient's decision and choice. I literally had a regular cleaning back a year ago prior and they never forced me to do a deep cleaning. This is the difference between private and chain dentistrys and its extremely sad that they have no problem losing a customer over this. Emily the office manager would not let me speak and sounded happy to let me find another dentist now because I refuse to do the deep cleaning. There are alternatives that I had to mention and then she was like oh yeah we can do that too. Horrible. Beware of these chain dentists. You should always be in control as a patient and paying customer and not be told they refuse to do a normal cleaning. I will just go back to the prior private dentist who has no problem letting me get a normal cleaning. They were just out of network, so I left there to find an in network one. Never again. Had an appointment made several months ago for 8 am , gotten 5 reminders of the 8 am appointment through the last few weeks , filled out paperwork on the V phone before and got there 10 minutes early . The receptionist tells me that the she doesn't know why the center schedules at 8 but the doctor is not there till 9 . So I'm an independent contractor and missed work . My 85-year-old mother went to Sage dental for a 10:00am new patient appointment and arrived 20 minutes early. She was handed an iPad and was told to sit down. My mother is not good with iPads and computers and got confused. A lady in the waiting room helped her. The time ended up going past her appointment time and the front desk did not try to help her in any way. My mother went up to the desk to turn in the iPad and the girl said "can you come back at 3 we gave your appointment away". My mother was so upset and told her she's never coming back again and left. We have no idea how the dentist herself is, but the front desk needs to be educated on how to treat their elderly patients. I work in healthcare. And as a manager I would be appalled if any of my staff treated my patients this way! read more

I have been to Sage Dental, formerly Riverside Dental for my initial consult and 3 additional visits, since that time. I have had a crown replacement, and front tooth filled for a chip, and a nightguard fabricated for my grinding. The initial visit in November was a transition from the former dentist, who medically retired. The staff were in transition as well. The new dentist, Dr Ann Kwok,DMD, and her staff are very talented, skilled and welcoming. Dr. Kwok administers the gentleness technique of numbing from all my previous dentists!!!
