I live in morgan hill and frequent Johnsons lumber ACE hardware often because simply put, there employees and customer service is excellent. Yesterday I had a unique problem with my sprinkler system, broken pipe in a very tight location. So I was looking for a special solution like a flexible pipe type for the repair. I asked for help and an young woman came and tried to help, I showed her the picture of the problem but she couldn't seem to find a solution so she called Mike, whom I got a couple of times on similar issues with plumbing, well I showed Mike the picture and said I'm looking for a suggestion on how to repair and he immediately showed me a solution with a special expandable slept device. Mike is outstanding if you need any plumbing or sprinkler or kitchen help. I highly recommend Mike and ACE hardware. Thank you Mike. Gino B read more

3 stars cause theyre plant selections cool. Its insane prices though BIG ISSUE- I was gifted a plant from here that came with Millie bugs. I didn't realize it was badly infested until about a week and a half after getting it. And it's been two years and I haven't been able to get rid of the Millie bugs on my indoor plants since then. I priced out 9 different lumbar yards and Johnson Lumber Ace Hardware had the best facia that is 2 times primed. Every where else was primed once. Their pricing and delivery was affordable. But the best part was the customer service! Marcus is friendly, helpful, and easy to get a hold of. He even called me back on his day off to answer my questions. I highly recommend this place. I was in this store Sunday (12/7/25) with my 2 small children. We were close to the contractor sales counter and we overheard someone cussing at the top of their lungs. I would have thought it was a low class customer, however, to my surprise, it was an employee standing behind the counter. His name is apparently Marcus and he was cussing loudly about his favorite sports team. He kept repeating, "they suck dick and they fucking suck cock." Keep in mind that there were several small children present in the store in this area while this disrespectful behavior was going on. I made a complaint with another store associate I will reach out to Mike Francis on Tuesday to address this issue. Employees, of any store, should be respectful and conscious of others who are around them. If I don't receive any help from Mike Francis, I will reach out to corporate to file a complaint against this awful employee that should be fired! read more

Great lumber yard - I travel 20 miles to buy lumber here rather than the big hardware store in SJ. Super helpful, particularly when you need lumber cut. The hardware side is very large with a great selection. The people there are very friendly. read more

I purchased my first EGo blower in 2021 at the Morgan Hill store, I went in to get it fixed as it kept cutting out after purchasing a new battery. When I went in, the person helping me looked it up in their system, and after a brief review, he offered to replace it with a new unit. Love this place! However, today, "Sorry about that," was the response when I inquired about recycling paint. The firm is listed as one of three places in Morgan HIll that will recycle paint. This store saves me from going to Home Depot now and then. Usually the young crew at night are not sure about anything but it's convenient. Tonight was a shock. Didn't realize they closed like 20 minutes before I checked out. No announcement, no one hurrying me, no one said anything. When I left, they unlocked the door and I asked what time they close. "8pm, sir" I looked at my watch and, "And you just let me finish without saying anything?" "Lol nope." "Well hell, I actually really appreciate that, thank you. " Today, that never happens. This place needs to let employees know what move with a purpose is. I came in for one item; carabiner bungee cords. I got what I needed and went to checkout, wasn't even 30 seconds. There were two checkouts open and one employee seemed clueless. The other register, the customer seemed completely lost and didn't know what they were buying and asked numerous questions. Maybe they should put in self checkout. The employee called 2 times over the intercom for help in the front and no one came. I asked if they have change for $100, my item was $35. She said yes and when she opened the register realized she didn't have change and I told her I can pay with card. She said she already put in for cash. Cash registers should have at least $200 in change in the register at all times. So she called who I think was a manager up to get change. He was a much older gentleman moving very slowly. It look him another 10 minutes just to bring up change. So what should have been a 1 minute visit here, turned out to be over 30 minutes. I only bought from here instead of Amazon because I needed the product that day. From now on, I will stick with Amazon because they are cheaper for the same exact product. read more

I bought a dewalt weed trimmer and found it to be a bad design trimmer bright it back to return it and was told by a manager thru a regular worker which I thought was lame that they couldn't except the return at all now I did use it one time but just for about 2 hours what makes me upset is that they will gladly take your money but don't bother to tell you their lame ass return policy so if you ever buy something that has to do with machinery tools be aware of this lousy policy that they have in place and don't bother to tell the customer about when they are purchasing it I only gave them the one star because that's the only way to post this review read more

Bought a garden hose reel online that they claimed to have in stock just for them to respond it is out of stock with no attempt at when they can deliver the product. Tried to cancel and they pull out the hidden terms of purchase and some fine print on how they entitle themselves to handle such situations. I get that but we still believe there is a financial and social contract established that when I contract you to provide something today and you cannot, that you have the decency to tell me there and then or refund when you find out you cannot deliver. There is no excuse for your web site to show in stock while you have zero products in store. It is really simple tech issue and a little human support. Been shopping here for the past 10+ years and it has been going backwards to the point this point. Would love to support local stores but will never support this shop again. read more

Terrible customer service and management. Carl, has a bad attitude and argued with us about getting an "outside " key cut , which we have had done many times over the past 6 months. He was argumentative and condescending. Got Colin, the 20 yr old manager, who couldn't get his story or narrative straight . I walked out , my husband stayed to deal with them. I used to like this place. I spent nearly $7500 here on redwood for my deck and other materials. Now I'm building a gate and I want to 20 1" x 8" Fence boards and the pile of wood that they had here looks like it's been sitting here for a year and it's absolute crap. Then they have two pallets of brand new wood and I asked if I can get my wood boards from there. I had to ask the manager and he said unfortunately we need to sell these first. What a joke you would think that I'm a local resident and spent thousands of dollars here to support this business they would take care of me. I have shopped here for 22 years and sadly​ have witnessed their service slowly go downhill​. I used to favor Ace even if it was slightly more expensive than HD because it was overall a more pleasant experience. Buying water softener salt is a measure. I used to walk in and ask for 5 bags of the blue bags of salt. They would load up the salt in a cart and put it in​ my car trunk. Then it degenerated to me loading the​ bags in a shopping cart by​ myself (My years have caused a lot of arthritis​). I once asked for help and was told I had to bring my car to the front door, which I did. Now if you ask for too many bags (the number varies!)*, they ask you​ to drive to the back to get it as though you were buying lumber. It has gone from being​ an overall pleasant​ experience to being such a hassle that it is hardly worth the effort. * This is especially strange. I recently tried to buy "too many" bags of salt and was told I had to go to the yard to pick it up, so I bought fewer bags to avoid the additional trip to the back. I went to Ace Hardware in Morgan Hill to look at a patio dinning set that was on sale in their add paper, my wife and I wanted to see the set but there wasn't a set on the floor assembled so I asked if they could set it up and was told that we would need to buy it for them to assemble it . Ask if didn't like it could we return it and was told that the manager would have make to make that decision and he wasn't there right now and come back in a while we weren't able to that day so went the next day talked the him he said we would have to pay a fee if we didn't like it I agreed so He set a delivery date for Monday and said that someone would be calling me on the Monday before they came I cleared my day on Monday and no call came so I the store late evening inquiring about the delivery and was told that that the delivery person has Monday off I told him that they manager scheduled it for Monday he said he would notified the manager and he would call me , I never got a call from him so I waited until the next day Tuesday after 9:30 plenty of time for him to call me and I called the store and explained the person said that they would bring it right over. I got a call in some time later from the delivery driver I was in my bathroom, he told me in rude tone that he was at my door with my delivery I told him that I would be right there he was already putting my set in my driveway l opened up my big gates of my driveway and said that he wasn't allowed to enter the property to bring them in as it's company policy, I was very upset I'm 74 years old and physical limitations I said I wasn't made aware of that if I had known I would made arrangements for someone to be there to bring it in. Went in to copy a key and the lady said they can't copy an outside key and made up some BS policy that if it doesn't work, they're liable. What it really is, they won't copy with a key you bring in because they can't make money off of it. Laughable. read more

Would recommend you stay far away from this place. OK, so here's the good : The checkout lanes are quick and the cashiers are friendly. Here's onto the bad: I went in there today with a simple request to have a few keys made a new locks. DRUMROLL...I was there for literally 4.5 hours because the folks in the key department have no idea what they are doing. I have to have 3 employees help me out because they were taking so long. Then, the best part is, after they were done, I took the keys they made and tried them on the new locks...Guess what? No surprise here, they don't work, NONE of the three keys they made work ... Ended up going to Lowe's, who did the same procedure in 15 minutes and guess what, all keys work and only charged me $5 versus $10 at ACE...Stay away... read more

Johnson's Ace Hardware used to be my go-to place for building materials. But lately they are becoming as bad as Home Despot and Lows. Today I went in to get some concrete blocks, which I've bought there before. The guy behind the counter asked if I meant some sort of block with wood on top(?), then asked if I meant concrete pavers. He said they no longer carry concrete blocks, and recommended that I try the M.H. Rockery!?!? I also needed some lumber, but figured screw it, I'll just bite the bullet and go to Lows in Gilroy. Several weeks ago I went in the get some 3-step stair risers, and again was told they don't carry them!?! Really! It's a lumber yard for pete's sake! Again went to Lows. heavy sigh! read more
