    I found myself going to Ocean home health today for a CPAP class to pick up my new CPAP. My doctor…read morehad prescribed me a newer model that was covered by insurance and apparently I was told I needed to take a class on it. The signage for the business is not super clear and I drove around on Nassau looking for it before finding the vinyl sign and pulling into the lot area. Even after the sign it is not clear where ocean home health is the sign was basically the size of a small door sign and I had to drive around the lot to find it. Parking was a nightmare as people were triple parked and I didn't know if I should just join the lot and chance getting towed or park near some tractor trailers that I also wasn't convinced was a spot. I opted for the ladder because at least I wouldn't have blocked anyone in. What I got in side I was not greeted by anyone and sat down. It was obvious they were doing the class in front of me but the person talking did not say anything to me, I eventually said I was here for the class and sat down with them. Up to this point I would have written off my entire experience in this process as it was frustrating but I think when you're dealing with medical supplies not unexpected. However, when I sat down I noticed the machine and front of me that they were going to have me sign off on was not the machine prescribed by my doctor. When they asked me to fill out the paperwork I had brought this up and they said that they did not have in stock the machine that the doctor prescribed but this was the most up-to-date model they did haven't stock. Which is still the old model and a fancy way of saying that. Being that I currently have this machine I opted to not sign any of the paperwork because there was no need for me to pick up the same model machine when I was approved for the newest model. The most frustrating thing about this was they could have called and let me know that this was an issue they were having. They said they were having issues getting the prescribed machine and I would have happily said I could wait. Instead I'd only find out it was not the right machine after taking a day off of work and wasting my time finding this place. When it comes to home medical supplies it is rare that you have a choice in your providers unless you are completely paying out of pocket. So you may not have a choice in what providers you work with, I say this as a warning that while this may be the case you may need to confirm prior to any appointments that the things you were supposed to receive are actually what is being prescribed, this should hopefully save you a headache.
