Clear explanation of costs (itemized phases of work), good rapport, experienced Team, respectful, and fabulous/creative design eye. Services: Demolition, removal of dead sod, removal and correct installation of irrigation, correct installation of Decomposed Granite (DG), installation gopher deterrent mesh barrier, Zero-scape the front of the house/gravel only, additional fencing installed to make a distinct garden for the guest unit. About $69,000 USD. The biggest expenses were irrigation and fencing. Bonus: Our dog fell in love with the crew. The only con: our project began in December 2025-January 2026. It took longer than estimated because of the holidays and then unavoidable rain (for the one time of year it rains in LA). These complaints have to do with timing rather than any service, interaction, or decision made my Cody or his crew.

Toward the end of our project, we discovered that she does not, which raised serious concerns about the quality and legality of the work performed. Our experience with Happy Days Landscaping has been extremely disappointing. We initially left a positive review, but after ongoing issues, we had no choice but to retract it. She recommended decomposed granite (DG) for our front yard. We expressed concern about our front yards steep slope and our worries about the DG weathering away during rain fall. Hailey assured us it would not be a problem since she would be compacting the decomposed granite and she said they add a sealant to the material to make "like concrete"--but that proved to be incorrect. After the first rainfall, the decomposed granite began washing away. She attempted to fix the issue by applying the sealant and compacting the DG which she was supposed to apply initially, claiming it would solve the problem. The DG continues to erode to this day. Communication was horrible and accountability was nonexistent. We had to repeatedly chase her down for responses, and it was during this time that we learned she was not licensed. Only after confronting her about this, she finally started returning our calls and offered to address some of the problems. Unfortunately, the issues have only worsened. As the DG continues to wash away with each rainfall, the irrigation system she installed--made with cheap plastic hoses--has become exposed and damaged from the sun. There are now ruptures everywhere in the system making it useless and as a result, our plants are dying. We have started hand watering to attempt to save the plants. Overall, this has been a costly and frustrating experience, and I would strongly caution others to be thorough and do their due diligence before considering this company.

Besides the results, several aspects of HOW they work impressed us: First, although this was a fairly complex, multi-month project with a few unexpected wrinkles (thrown in by us), they completed it on time and on budget. The one and only change order was small and was well communicated in advance. We chose to proceed and it was all crystal clear. Second, their workers are top-notch. They were professional, organized, and detail-oriented craftsman. Every single one. Walls are straight and level with deep foundations and proper reinforcement; walkways are level; every detail is perfect, including the underground details that no one is ever going to see. They show up on time, work hard and leave it clean, *safe* and organized at the end of the day, every day, which we appreciated because we have young kids. Third, this is no fly-by-night organization like some in the landscaping world. Karen and Omar have long-term employees who have insurance and benefits, take their breaks etc. They do things right and aren't going to open you up to a lawsuit if someone gets hurt.
