So I was walking around the store looking for stuff. and then I saw a taped out door way. But it just led to a wall. So I then decided to touch the wall i dont really know why but I did. when I did. I was transported to a liminal office space where all you can hear is the hum of lights. It smelt of moist rugs and the room was an icky yellow. I'd leave zero stars if I could! I bought a Cross RC BC8 Mammoth from them in October, I put it together and drove it once. The transmission is faulty and still under warranty. I reached out to Hobbytown to get this resolved. I started reaching out at the beginning of January to get this taken care of, I was ignored despite answering their questions. Bob has not been helpful at all and has completely driven me away from supporting this brand. He left such a bad taste, the absolute worst experience I have had in this industry. He refuses to help, is very short with responses, won't actually tell me what I need to do and has been all around horrible to deal with. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE, ITS WORTH DRIVING FARTHER. SERIOUSLY! I'm 100% for supporting local B&Ms but this is just ridiculous, literally 0/10 across the board. I'll explain. I've been to the store 2 times in the past month or so, to buy a car and odds and ends to paint a body. They did not have what I was looking for both times I went, but they suggested "substitutes" for something they had in stock, which was fine with the car... but not the paint. When I went for the car, I was looking for a RTR drift model that they did not have in stock so I settled for the sprint chassis to put drift parts on. This purchase would have been fine but I was told that I needed tire glue for drift tires which was extremely untrue. I (wishing I had done my research) ruined the 50 dollar+ set of wheels and tires I bought because of false information given to make a measly $3 dollars extra on the final sale.. Oh and let's not forget that I got the car home (remind you it's ready to run) charge the Nimh battery with supplied charger and the car wouldn't run, the power would cut in pulses, I triple checked ESC multiple times as well. So luckily I had some lipo batteries to run it on. Best part? The car is an out dated model that must have been shown to anyone semi interested because the body was so badly damaged from body pins being recklessly removed and inserted that there is a dip on each side from scraping. During this whole visit I was buying a car with a chassis that I've been interested in for a few years so I knew it like the back of my hand.. the reason I say this is because the older man tried selling me a more expensive model with 200% less suspension adjustability. The younger guy constantly had a condescending tone with me until I corrected him a few times about the chassis I was buying, in which he goes "you did your research huh" and basically sent me on my way. ALSO, THEY CHARGED ME FULL RETAIL FOR AN OPENED DAMAGED ITEM. The second time I went here was for paint for a body I bought. I was looking for a specific color of Tamiya paint, transparent purple. I wanted to go for a dark, deep purple candy color. If you know anything about custom auto body paint, you know that you need to lay a transparent color over a metallic base to achieve this "deep" metallic effect. The more coats of transparent paint, the darker your shade of color will be. Growing up in a body shop, I have the knowledge of paint to achieve this finish. Yet...... I had to argue with the older guy there about how the purple metallic paint they sell there will not be the same finish because it's not a transparent topcoat. I tried to explain that it won't have the depth that I'm looking for.. He was trying to tell me that purple transparent with any base will turn into plain non metallic purple. Then after giving in he tells me that he can order it and will have it in 2 days or so in which I reply that I'm from out of town. The guy then asks me where I'm from and I replied with my town of which is about an hour each way. He then tells me that the drive is hardly even out of the way and that it's not like I'm driving across the country for it. At this point I'm fuming because of both trips, being talked down to and filled with TONS of misinformation. Fact check everything these guys say to you, I have found that only the basics of R/C is all these guys know at best. I actually agree w the previous rating. Employees used to be friendly there but those have moved on to better careers. Phone calls are answered in a none personal manner...ie...hello Hobbytownusa..no name or who you are speaking with. Refunds are non existing ; I have shopped at this location for years so I feel justified saying that overall attitude of the store is VERY impolite. This is the worst place in the hobby world. To do business.Their RETURN policy, unannounced, is instore credit only, even if purchased the day before and would not work. $600 They had nothing else in the store, I would be interested in, unless I spent an additional $600., and what if my new $1200 toy also would't work. $2400, $4800, in a short time you would have more instore credits than the whole store would be worth.
