They have a wonderful area to sit and eat it outside in a little garden or move to the side of the building which overlooks the Shark River. I have always loved this special deli, grill, pizza and now ice cream neighborhood establishment which has been here since the 1920s. It was late afternoon when I walked in to order a sandwich and there was only one customer in there so I thought I would've been waited on right away but the guys behind the counter were talking to each other till I got their attention. I ordered the simplest sandwich. Roast beef on a roll with mayonnaise I left before I pulled away in the car I opened up the sandwich to take a bite and there was no mayonnaise on the sandwich and it was not worth the money that I paid just under $10 there was hardly any meat on it. So I went back in to at least have the mayo put on. I got a slice of grandma's pie and it was dried out and probably sitting there for too long. I will not be back. read more

What a great place as the new owners have stepped up the quality of the food and have made many great changes

Moved to SRH just 8 months ago and was hopeful for the local "mom and pop" deli around the corner. Unfortunately in the winter I tried calling several times, every time they were closed, even during normal dinner hours (7 PMish). We tried breakfast there one time, it was just OK but was happy to give it another try for lunch or dinner. Tried to go tonight - August 28, 2018. I walked in at 7:40 PM and was told the kitchen was closed - the clerk pointing to the "summer hours" sign. That sign said opened until 8:30 PM but he said they clean up early. SO -to the owner of this establishment - I would have been a good customer if I had even a chance to try your food. Really disappointing that unless you eat dinner early, it's not at the around the corner place. I guess they make enough money to not even stay open for their published dinner hours during peak summer season? read more

They are so kind to you when placing an order. We have only had the pizza from there and let me just say, holy moly !!! It is extraordinarily delicious. We always get the grandma pie which has sesame seeds on the crust. I don't know what it is about sesame seeds but they make it so much better. A few weeks back, we got the grandma pie with hot peppers on it and that alone was a game changer. I suggest y'all eat here. read more

Love this local spot for so many reasons. Every menu item - from their breakfast burrito to their ice cream - is made to exceed expectations. You can't go wrong with their signature grandma pie but I think their hot hero's and cold subs are severely underrated. Try the Tyler for lunch or a chicken parm hero for dinner. And now you have another reason to stop in: Evvie's ice cream window offers up toasted almond, Nutella, salted caramel along other classic flavors - all made locally. We ordered a chicken Marsala and chicken franchaise entrees to go. The sauce on both dinners leaked in to the bag. The dinners were left dry. I contacted the store and asked for a 1/2 cup of both sauces to be delivered. 2 hours later No Show! Very poor customer service for a local customer. $38 dollar dinner down the drain. The place was clean and the food was good. The people that run it have character and I imagine on a busy day they could be cranky but they were just fine to us. It is not fancy.. The kind of place where kids stop on their bikes for soda or a slice... or families order pizza or subs for delivery. We used JCB to cater my mom's 60th birthday - and I'm very happy we did! The food was delicious, many of our guests asked where it was from because it was so good, and the pricing was very fair! The ordering process, delivery and overall service was exceptional. They helped me understand how many people the trays feed so I could order the right amount, they delivered the food at the expected time and provided heating instructions (though food was delivered hot), and provided the sternos, cutlery, napkins etc. Overall a great experience with delicious food. read more

Will never spend my money here again! Last year we ordered a shrimp ceasar salad and asked for the dressing on the side. When we got it home the dressing was on the shrimp. Brought it back and the older man who is always in the kitchen grabbed a towel off the counter and started wiping the dressing off the shrimp. COME ON! I love this place. I used to come here when I was little with my twin brother and older brother when we'd rent boats at the shark river to go fishing. Always was a quick, easy and delicious. Now I come here now that I am older and I am blown away at the options. Breakfast is amazing and the homemade home fries are killer! Then for lunch you have their pizza which is well done and have the option to get it cooked even more. Super crispy crust and high quality ingredients. Then they have these huge subs served on this crusty bread they get from New York that's so rustic with sesame seeds! They have it all! Healthy options, entrees, gyros, the list goes on and on. I'm very impressed on how they support the town and local entrepreneurs by carrying their homemade products. After talking to the owners Pierre and Carrie I learned that the hot sauce and honey mustard they sell are both made by residents that live in Shark River Hills. The paleo cookies are made by a local jersey girl, and the paleonola (a favorite of mine when I did paleo) was started by Carrie's college roommate! After hearing the support they do for their community made me love this place even more. The store is a market within a market, and you can just get the vibe that they truly care. Not only is the food a huge impact, they go the extra mile to support the environment. I noticed their disposal utensils are biodegradable and the containers are also biodegradable. They even compost, which is crazy (and something I know a lot about after working at Whole Foods for years). I can't say enough about how great JCB is, so do yourself a favor and try a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast, any sub of your choice/pizza slice (the grandma pie and Johns pizza is epic!) for lunch/ and a entree like a classic chicken parm for dinner! Got there To Go menu in my mail today. Went to place an order for delivery and try out some of there pastas that looked delicious. Placed my order and hang up. I received a phone call 2 minutes later stating that the manger said my address was to far away. Confused I said okay and hung up. When I googled the exact time to would take from my house to their location it was 8 minutes. So apparently they only deliver down the street in walking distance I guess. Safe to say I'm throwing out there menu. There are plenty of other places father than that to order from that will deliver. Don't try to deliver if you live father than 2 minutes away. read more

I just wanted to say I gave 4 stars because of some of the employees that answer the phone. The pizzas are excellent, love the sauce, it's not that real red sauce, it's delicious. We ordered chicken tenders and sausage and peppers for a kids party, the tenders were the first thing to go, everyone commenting how good they were. I would definitely recommend trying this place. Wow, I can't believe the first review about costumer service? This place seems to really try to please, but they may be a bit disorganized and I've never ordered out so I can't speak for that. I like to think of them as extremely casual in attitude. Been going here since I started keeping my boat at the mariner about 5 years ago and before Sandy hit this place hard. We have gone with both small and large groups and for what this place is, the food is surprisingly good! We always ask for the broccoli rabe stromboli which they sometimes don't have, but when they do, it is awesome! Their other stromboli's are great, but are often pre-made and re-heated for you, so not the same. Besides being a full deli, they offer a large menu selection of mostly Italian and are willing to try to make anything for you if it's within their range of abilities. Recently my niece ordered the grilled shrimp caesars salad and it was over seasoned with dressing, so next time we will ask for dressing on the side. All places should put dressing on the side, it just makes sense. Anyway, we always leave feeling like family because of the friendly staff, and we are always shocked at the bill in a good way! This place has decent food, is fairly priced, locally convenient, has friendly and attentive staff, and is near the water! What more could you ask? read more

Cracker Barrel is a great neighborhood restaurant. They have good entrees, pizza and great subs. They have good customer service and they deliver breakfast. I posted a picture of their pasta fagioli. Only in hopes for them to care more about it. I really like pasta fagioli and this was pretty bad. It was like bacon soup with a little bit of pasta and beans. They clearly use bacon and not prosciutto. Way too much of it also. Too salty and unlike any other pasta fagioli I've ever had. Bottom line Cracker Barrel is great but their pasta fagioli stinks. I recommend eating and ordering from them just not that. read more

Fiancée and I had lunch here and the food was great. We sat by the window which overlooks Shark River. Pierre, the new owner, is awesome and his staff is very hospitable. It has a family-like feel.
