My car was towed to John's Auto Body after I was in a crash. The owner personally came and towed my new Dodge Ram pick up, that I was very concerned with. The tow was done flawlessly! My daughter was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. I called John's to inquire about my truck, and the office manager was a bit ruff around the edges at first, but after I explained to her what I was up against she was very compassionate and caring. I believe the office manager deals with many not so nice people.... and her guard is up at first. The owner of the company is absolutely fantastic. He went out of his way to help me with my truck when I arrived. I definitely recommend this business. read more

If I could give worse than one star I would. My car was stolen and when found the police had this company tow it because it was damaged. Guy told me I needed 300 cash for him to take it to my place a few blocks away. He brought it to brighton Ave and today less than 24 hours after my balance is 450!? read more

The staff is very rude and disrespectful. They deal with a lot of police in pounds so they speak to you as you less than.

My mother got into an accident and had to be taken to Upstate via ambulance. Her car got towed to this miserable excuse for a business. I went to try and get her groceries from the trunk but the vile excuse for human being at the window said they only deal with the registered owner. "What if I get her on the phone?" Nope. Nothing doing. They also told me to "calm down." How does one "calm down" when your mother is in the hospital? AVOID THESE SCUMBAGS AT ALL COSTS. read more

This place is absolutely the worst place possible. They are extremely rude. They try to blame every situation on the customer. If you have to get your car done here expect them to have it for days...Do not go to this place ever. read more

They towed my car it cost $140 then they charged an extra $20 for a "difficult tow" even though it was only 5 miles. On top of this they got my key jammed in the ignition while driving the car without my permission. Finally there's a white paint scrape that I'm pretty sure wasn't there before. read more

This place is a joke, they tell me to bring my car in at 9:00-10:00 so I bring it at 9:00. Don't hear from them all day, call them to see if it's done and they say no because I brought my car in late. What a bunch of crap!! I try to tell them that that's untrue and they hang up on me. Very rude and unprofessional people that work at this place. Their service sucks!! read more

Absolutely terrible service, avoid this place at all cost! My car was towed with all of medications inside. I called the emergency number to retrieve my insulin because they are closed on Sundays. Completely gave me the run-around and would not cooperate until I threatened to call the police. My insulin and medications are literally necessary for me to live, I cannot function without them!! Absolutely despicable customer service and no concern for human decency. They also asked to see the prescriptions upon retrieval which is absolutely a HIPPA violation and completely inappropriate. Don't have an emergency number if you can't be bothered to accommodate in an emergency!! Life functioning medication is an emergency. I sincerely hope this place shuts down. read more

I read all of these horrible reviews. They couldn't be farther from the truth. My son had a terrible car accident and the police called Johns to tow his car away. The staff and owner couldn't have been more helpful and compassionate. They are an excellent place to deal with. Don't believe all the other stuff. read more

If you go to the butcher hoping to buy vegetables, you'll leave disappointed. I went to this establishment knowing that they were not responsible for my chaos. My truck was illegally towed w/o notice from an unmaintained, unposted lot downtown. Some prick named Stefan from Carnegie Management, made the call. By all rights I was Pissed. But I approach the staff of this facility with patience and respect and received the same in return. And while shoot the shit with the owner, I asked him to look at my hood latch which he fixed at a great price. I will be back. thanks. read more

This place sucks ass. Owner is a scumbag that everyone hates. Got my jeep towed and held it after i paid him because it had a flat tire when i had a spare. Had to call the cops. Guess it happens all the time. Lucky you even got 1 star just because i had too. read more

This is a business in name only. They do not provide service for money, they are a scam start to finish,

My son was in a car accident less than half a mile from John's Auto Body. We were charged $390 to tow it to their shop. The only good review on here must be from a relative or someone who works there. I cannot imagine ever wanting to step foot in this establishment again. They are rude and dishonest. Their "certified letter" that they kindly mailed to us for $40 telling us what we owed them did not match what they charged us when we picked up the car. This place is awful, I cannot believe they are still open. The only reason they are is because you don't get a choice of what tow company comes when 911 sends them. Run far and fast from this place. They will take your car and not give it back until you give them ridiculous amounts of money. read more

Holy hell, avoid this place at all costs! I wish the cop that offered me a tow had told me this place was an absolute scam (but of course not right?). I broke down on 481, less than 5 miles from this degenerates shop. They asked me where to tow it but then he said if I didnt have $200 cash, it had to go to his place. That's not sketchy at all. However I was stranded after a long day of work and just wanted to get home so I agreed for him to take it. Got home, read these reviews and thought "oh no..." and sure enough, everything in these reviews is 100% true. After reading the reviews I knew I wasn't letting this guy get any more of my money and found a friend to tow me to his garage. I arrived at John's early Monday morning to nothing but hoops to jump through. Because my car is registered to my dad, they wouldn't release it. Which is not a law, we spoke to the police department after all this. It's just a policy this shop has to take advantage of you, holding your car another day to make you pay a storage fee. The night I was towed he was going to bring me anywhere for cash, but the next day they won't release my car? Yeah, that's an honest mechanic. The owner was entirely disrespectful and rude to my friend with his trailer - yelled at him to get his truck off the premises and he wasn't allowed on site. They actually towed my car around the damn corner to allow him to tow my car. They go out of their wait to make things difficult! So basically if you have the choice, stay far away from this place. I wish I had known! read more

The absolute worst place you can ever go to. The female is nasty on the phone and overall a nasty person. She tried to scam more money from me by forcing me to pay for storage. She literally locked and ran from the door when she SAW me approaching. I had to almost bust down the door because I refused to have them hold my car for more than 24 hours. She refused to give me her name. George didn't even mention on the phone that they only took money order or cash and I had to WALK all over Syracuse to find the nearness usps. This place is a scam. Do not go here. I'll be reporting that whole business to BBB. read more

Stay far far away from this shop! Our car got towed there after it broke down. We kept calling to get updates, and were given the run around. All we wanted was to pay our tow charge but they kept coming up with excuses...When we decided to go pick up the car to bring it to a different shop they charged us for "storage" !! They refused to release the car. What a rip off. Rude management and unethical practice!! read more

Worst experience ever the tow truck driver was rude and the customer service was horrible. The inside was so dirty I wouldn't want to stay in there any longer than I have too. read more

If you ever need your car towed, you better hope it's not to John's auto body. After getting my license, and registration, they still would not release my car because I had my co signer on the registration as well. I called 2 different local police stations because I was so baffled that I could not leave with MY car. Both police stations said there should be no problem as long as your name is on the registration. The old men even told an example as to why they need both parties, old jerk said, "well we had an instance where a wife wanted to take the car, but her husband got mad at us for releasing the car to her. And so that's why we only release when both people on the registration are present." The cops response was, "that doesn't make sense because in a marriage everything is 50/50 and both husband and wife are owners." However the police could not help because it was "policy" this policy cost us another days worth of fees. I'm sure that is why they close so early, and I'm positive that is why they made this policy. I wish I could give negative stars my experience here was so bad. read more

My car got towed there after an accident on 81. Between the time it arrived there and the time my insurance moved it to another auto body shop, the one remaining license plate went missing (was stolen). My car ended up being a complete loss. When I went to the DMV to transfer my registration, I had no plate to turn in. The DMV, therefore, would not help me. Then I had to go to the police station to file a report for a missing license plate. Then I was able to go back to the DMV to finish out this whole process. It's bad enough to be involved in a car wreck; this whole license plate mess made it so much worse. read more

Car was towed there from University. Daughter went to pick it up the next day and owner yelled at her, pointed his finger in face, saying she was going to jail. Really? to pick up the car? She had wrong paper, and walked back to friends car to take her back to get paper and he followed her continuing to scream at her... Well now, we're the wrong people to have someone abuse my daughter--Cops are being sent over and charges pressed. Can you give a negative star? read more

Awful experience and horrible customer service! I had my car towed by this company after getting in a minor accident. When I went to get my car released so the insurance company could have it towed to another shop that I decided to get my car fixed at, they gave me such a hard time for no reason at all. Including talking bad about my insurance company. After giving John's Auto Body all papers they requested and signing the release, they will held onto the car another 5 days and continued to give my insurance company a hard time and would not release the car. The customer service lied to me about releasing car and overall, the experience was just horrible. They seemed to be spiteful because I chose not to get my car fixed there. On top of a bad situation, they just made it worse. I wouldn't trust this company to even tow my car again, let alone fix it. I think they were just looking to keep the car longer, so they could charge the insurance company more money. Completely unethical and untrustworthy. read more

John's Auto Body deserves no stars. I am truly an ungrateful and unsatisfied customer due to their current collaboration with the Syracuse Police department. During a recent end of season SU home game, John's Auto Body towed about 10 vehicles from one small section of Harrison St. at the start of the game for parking on the wrong side of the street. Following the game, a member of the towing company rounded on each vehicle after a police shuttle dropped us off and cheerfully asked each driver how they would like to pay the $151.00 towing fee. Cash, Visa or MasterCard? Mind you, this is unfolding while other members from John's Auto Body Service stood around, smoking their electronic cigarettes and surly dreaming of their currently expanding bank accounts. I'm not sure of the consequences of any unfortunate vehicle owner that did not have the means to pay the required fee. It was manipulative and a total power trip. A ticket for wrong side parking is understandable. Not a $151 tow read more
