I brought my car in for a new motor replacement in July 2017. I had the replacement engine shipped…read moreto Harvey Auto. Upon receipt, Mr. 'DC' proceeded to contact me to say he put the new motor in but it didn't work. I contacted the motor vendor. They ended up contacting Harvey Auto (DC) to ask numerous questions around the troubleshooting conducted and basic quality check involved with a new motor installation. A Specialist from Ford got involved and miraculously, DC was able to get the motor worked. Approx 3 MONTHS after the July dropoff, I was called to pick up my car. When I arrived, I was told the car had no power and needed a new battery. I purchased a new battery on the spot. After installing the battery, DC then comes in to say the lights inside of the car aren't working and there is no power??? He offered to get a 2nd opinion from another mechanic. I agreed and waited 2 weeks without a word. Upon checking on the status, DC informed me that NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE and to chk back. I did. SAME RESPONSE, but now the same motor that didnt work, then worked...is not working and I need a new motor. I also would need to pay him again to take out the new, non-working motor and put the new new motor in (foolery)! My dad even went there in person 2 more times to talk to DC and better understand what was happening, only to be told any additional work done on the car would be a charge to me....WHAT??? Things that were working when they received the car in July are now not working after the car has been in their possession for 7 months and I'm responsible for the repairs? Who knows what they've done to my car in this unreasonable timeframe!?! After all of this, I'm told to have the car towed and I HAVE TO be present. Due to my work hours, that was impossible. TODAY, February 9, 2018, I scheduled a tow truck to meet me at the shop. I arrive and I'm told they just moved my car to the back and it's running?????? I cancel the tow (BIG Mistake), go to move the car and it won't start! Tried to jump the car...NOTHING! So now Im headed back home to prepare for this massive snow storm and have to wait until it all clears to try again. This shop is HORRIBLE, non-responsive and is only concerned about getting their payments for poor and inadequate work. DC is a smoke blower and has horrible customer service skilsls. One shouldn't have to hunt a mechanic down for an update on a car that under repair and in the shop's possession . I may not be in position to sue, but trust I will copy and paste this complaint on multiple sites in the event is deleted! Forgive any error and broken english but I am beyond pissed!

B&G Auto Center is the best auto repair shop that I have used in my decades of driving and owning…read morecars. It is indeed a 5-Star Operation. The owner, Verdis Alexander, is personally involved with the repairs, working side by side with his mechanics to ensure integrity, a fair price and white-glove customer service. I thought I had a transmission problem that was preventing the car from passing the vehicle emissions test. That was what the codes indicated. Turns out, my gear shift was sticking and not moving properly. How many mechanics can you trust to have been honest enough to admit to that? When my car was repaired, for a fraction of what I thought it would have cost, B&G drove it to the DMV and the car passed, just as the mechanics had promised.

BEWARE!! BEWARE!! BEWARE!!! Subject: A Cautionary Tale…read moreRegarding B and G Auto Dear Readers, I feel compelled to share my unfortunate experience with B and G Auto, located at 2206 E. 75th Street, Chicago, IL, in hopes of preventing others from encountering similar frustrations. Overview of My Experience: 1. Initial Breakdown: On July 1, 2026, my vehicle began to overheat and leak transmission fluid, prompting a call to AAA for a tow. After consulting several local mechanics, I chose B and G Auto based on the owner's assurances of immediate diagnostic services. 2. Relocation Confusion: Upon contacting the shop, I discovered they had recently relocated from Harvey. I agreed to have my vehicle towed to the new address, hopeful for swift assistance. 3. Lack of Communication: After the tow, I experienced significant delays in communication. The owner, Alverdis Alexander, failed to respond to my calls for about 20 minutes after taking my keys. When I finally reached him, I was met with vague reassurances and no clear updates. 4. Further Delays: Despite their advertised opening time of 9:30 AM on July 2, I received no updates until I called at 1 PM. When I arrived at 1:45 PM, my vehicle remained on the street, and I was unexpectedly charged for a battery charge, which had not been previously communicated. 5. Repair Pricing Discrepancies: After initially agreeing to necessary repairs (starter and transmission lines), the cost escalated dramatically when the owner informed me of additional issues with the fan. I felt pressured to approve these unforeseen expenses, and when I requested to pay at pickup, the owner's reaction was unprofessionally irate. 6. Post-Service Complications: After retrieving my vehicle on July 4, I encountered immediate issues, with the car stalling shortly thereafter. Despite several attempts to contact the owner, I received minimal assistance, culminating in a suggestion that I might have blown a head gasket. Conclusion: This experience has not only caused substantial inconvenience but has also led to unexpected financial strain due to uncommunicated repairs and unsatisfactory service. It is crucial to bring these practices to light, as they can significantly impact other consumers in our community. I urge potential customers to consider these points carefully before engaging with B and G Auto. Ethical business practices are essential, and it is my hope that this review prompts a necessary review of their operations. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Montage Pheloan
