Here's a quick review of a childhood favorite of mine! I grew up in West Orange, NJ, and unfortunate circumstances brought me back into town. Johnny's Pizzeria was old haunt us kids used to frequent waaaaay way back in our youth! As I was leaving town, I happened to drive by the location, and to my surprise, Johnny's was still open! I had to stop in and grab a slice. After more than 30 years, they are still feeding the masses, and the pizza was still very solid! They get huge points for nostalgic value.... The restaurant isn't anything fancy, but if you are passing through WO, you have to stop in for a slice and a taste of pizzeria history!! Cheers to all!!!

Stopped by here to have a slice and try them out. The slice was okay, nothing to boast about. Thin crust, cheese and sauce were okay.

Good Pizza! There is a minimum on the card so if you are coming for a slice or two just remember cash.

The best pizza in town. Amazing fries too. What more can you ask for? Oh, and they carry Coke products. Trifecta.

Great Pizza and Garlic Knots! This place reminds me of great pizza that I use to get in NY as a kid.

Basic pizza shop. Frequently ordered cheese and pepperoni pizzas and never disappointed. Nice sauce, not too greasy.

The Reservoir Restaurant - A True Old-School Italian Gem!…read more Met up with some friends at The Reservoir Restaurant in South Orange, NJ, and let me tell you, we found a real gem! If you're a fan of old-school Italian restaurants, homemade dishes, and delicious pizza, this place needs to be on your radar! The Reservoir has been serving up Italian favorites since 1935, carrying on a family tradition that goes back generations. They're even known for their original pizza pie! Walking into a place like this reminds you of the good old days when Italian restaurants were all about generous portions, familiar flavors, and bringing people together around the table. This is a classic, no-frills Italian restaurant and pizzeria with a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. They offer a large menu featuring traditional Italian appetizers, pasta dishes, chicken and veal entrees, salads, and, of course, pizza. Many dishes are homemade, prepared fresh, and served hot. The portions are generous, so come hungry! It's also BYOB, so bring your favorite wine or beer to enjoy with dinner. Just remember, CASH ONLY -- no credit cards accepted! Let's talk about the food! For appetizers, we ordered: Calamari Marinara - Wow! This was so tasty and well prepared. The tender calamari paired beautifully with the flavorful marinara sauce. A fantastic way to kick off our meal! Tony Salad - And what a salad! Loaded with chopped lettuce, mozzarella, provolone, salami, pepperoni, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and olives, all tossed in a garlic Parmesan vinaigrette. This salad was packed with flavor and the perfect starter to share around the table. Definitely a winner! For dinner, we enjoyed: Penne Vodka with Chicken & Mushrooms - Penne tossed in a creamy vodka sauce with chicken and mushrooms. Rich, satisfying, and full of that comforting Italian flavor you crave from a neighborhood Italian restaurant. Two Cheese Pizzas - You can't visit an old-school Italian pizzeria without ordering pizza! We went with two classic cheese pies, and they did not disappoint. The crust was thin, with a beautiful bake and just the right amount of crispness. Simple, delicious, and proof that sometimes the classics really are the best! And somehow, we STILL had room for dessert! Ha! We finished our feast with a trio of sweet treats: * Cannoli - A crisp shell filled with creamy whipped ricotta cannoli cream and rich chocolate morsels. A classic Italian dessert done right! * Boston Cream Pie - A deliciously sweet way to round out the meal. * Brownie Cheesecake - Because why choose between chocolate and cheesecake when you can have both? LOL! Talk about a FOOD COMA! We definitely didn't leave hungry! Let's give credit to the service! Our server was fantastic! They were attentive throughout the meal, constantly checking on us, stopping by for refills, and making sure we had everything we needed. Great service makes a big difference, especially when you're enjoying a meal with friends, and our server really helped make the experience that much better. Final thoughts The Reservoir is the kind of old-school Italian restaurant that reminds you why these neighborhood establishments have stood the test of time. With its long family history, generous portions, traditional Italian comfort food, and classic pizza, it's a wonderful spot to gather with friends and family. The food was fantastic, the service was impeccable, and we had a great time enjoying a delicious meal together. Whether you're stopping in for pizza, sharing a few appetizers, or sitting down for a full Italian dinner, there's plenty to enjoy here. If you're in South Orange or the surrounding area, I highly recommend giving The Reservoir a try. Just bring your appetite, your favorite BYOB beverage, and some cash! I'll definitely be back! Restaurant details added: The Reservoir dates back to 1935 and is known for its historic family tradition and original pizza pie. Its current location is at 106 West South Orange Avenue.

The menu offers mostly classic dishes that you might have found on a similar restaurant 50 years ago. The service is attentive. They do not accept credit cards (there is an ATM machine in the restaurant).

My favs are the chicken fingers, half subs and the California burger! A great lunch with juice/soda for less than $8 bucks #Winning This pizzeria is built for the hunger inside you. The portions are generous and might turn into dinner or a food coma lol. Food deets: - Chicken fingers. Real chicken lightly breaded and packs a nice crunch but ohh so juicy inside. You can add fries but chances are it will be overkill in a good way! - The Subs... Man how can I break this down??? The half subs are like a foot long- Amazing... If you're up for a challenge then try the full sub, but proceed with caution as you'll end up having the rest for dinner. My favs are Turkey salami and Swiss and the chicken parm... - California burger. A crispy chicken sandwich that oooohhhh so good! All in all this place is a winner on south orange ave. They accept cars BUT charge 0.50 extra if less than $10 greenbacks. Not to much seating inside but if your doing a quick a grab and go - this is spot is must try. Enjoy y'all

OMG the bread was hard as a rock i couldn't believe they actually sold this bread. I had to take it off the roll and put it on bread smh. I stopped eating from there for about 6 months. Then today I said to myself let me try one more time. I bought an Italian steak & cheese it came with potatoes, onions & peppers. I ate some potatoes onions and peppers ok good. Then I ate 1 1/2 of the sandwich. About two hours later i began to feel sick to my stomach not thinking it was the sandwich. Well I took the sandwich out about to give my family half and all o see is mold, in the bread bread, all outside the bread on both parts. I'M DONE!

Quality of food is top notch. Ordered a pasta dish with roasted eggplant, garlic and basil in a tomato based sauce. It was savory, and eggplant was very tender. The staff gave ample time for my family and I to say our hello's before greeting us with drink options. Upon sitting down our server brought us fresh bread and butter with flakey sea salt on top. For appetizers we had The Ralph Piccolo Pizza, Ricotta Crostini, Cacio E Pepe Fries, and Prosciutto Di Parma. All were insanely incredible. Great flavor, crispy where it needed to be crispy, soft where it needed to be soft. For my entree, I had the Crest De Gallo Pasta. The pomodoro sauce was on the savory side. It was a set menu and I am vegetarian, it was my option. It was good! I would love to return to try the Spicy Vodka Sauce Rigatoni. I am a spice lover. For dessert I had the most wonderful, rich, smooth chocolate mousse. The dish was called The Chocolate Spuma. It came with crumbled pistachios and fresh raspberries on the side of it. The flavors and textures together were perfect. The staff were so kind, had great humor, and fabulous manners. They held themselves very professionally. The head server for the event and the manager were lovely. I just had to pull the manager to the side and compliment all. I live 1.5 hours away but I would gladly book a weekend trip up to Maplewood, just to eat here again.
