They came very highly recommended, but I was nervous as this was our first time using them. Angela instantly put me at ease with her thoroughness and attention to detail. From start to finish she was super easy to communicate with both via phone and text . She took the time to ask questions and understand my vision for the party and worked with me to make it happen. She was even able to provide me with contacts for certain items I was looking for and couldn't find. She stopped by prior to the event for a walk through to see the location and ensure set up logistics and anything I hadn't thought about. Day of Angela and her Husband and the Califass Street Taquiza Team arrived early and quickly set up and transformed the catering area into a beautiful buffet. Her Staff was super friendly and professional. I received numerous compliments from my guests not only for the great tasting tacos, food, and aqua frescas but for how beautiful their set up was. I was actually able to sit down and enjoy my event confidently knowing that everything was taken care of. By the end of my event Angela felt more like a Family Member whom I've known for years. Looking forward to working with her again and I encourage anyone looking for a caterer or taquiza to hire her as she does it all in a one stop shop.

For me, I am not a huge seafood lover- unless I am in Monterey or San Francisco. The vibe of this restaurant is pretty interesting. Think Dia de Los Muertos in a discoteca. I think this place better serves as somewhere to get drunk which makes the food seem better. The food is not bad , just doesn't stand out from anywhere else. On my visit, I opted for the chile verde with their handmade corn tortillas. The chile was spicy enough for me and the tortillas were fantastic. Shout out to the tortilla lady preparing those fresh all day! The refried beans were really runny- I should have asked if they offered whole pinto beans as an option. Service was pretty good, although I wasn't quite sure who our server was . We had multiple people come to our table during our visit. I think this restaurant is fun and interesting with solid food options. Would I be back? Yes, if I want to drink, listen to loud music and eat some damn good tortillas!

Unfortunately, the pozole was mostly broth and bones, with very little meat and only about a spoonful of hominy. On the other hand, the Birria de Reyes and the nachos were great and definitely recommend. The service was okay. The staff were helpful when I asked for extra lemons and other items, but there wasn't much interaction beyond that. At one point, my son spilled his drink. While the staff noticed, they continued with their work, which is understandable, but it would have been nice if someone had offered assistance or at least pointed us to where we could find napkins. We ended up tracking them down ourselves and cleaning the table and floor. The ambiance is a little different. During the evening, one side of the restaurant is brightly lit while the other side is dark and you don't really know where to go. Overall, I'd still recommend this spot for their tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and especially the Birria de Reyes, but I would probably skip the pozole.

I recently had to adopt a heart-healthier diet due to medical concerns, so I've been replacing red…read moremeat with chicken and fish and being much more careful about fatty foods. I've even been using AI to help me find healthier restaurant options, which is how I came across Tacos America. It recommended the restaurant because they grill their chicken, so we were excited to try it. When we arrived, we saw them grilling meat outside and thought, "Perfect! This is exactly what we're looking for." Since the tacos are topped with vegetables, we felt like this would be a great, healthier option. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. While we were waiting, the people ahead of us ordered tripe. The tripe was being heated on the Blackstone in lard, and you could see it sizzling in the lard. After they removed the tripe and served it, it was time to prepare our tacos. They put our grilled chicken on that same surface with the same lard that had just been used for the tripe. I'm not someone who likes to complain, so I didn't say anything at the time. Looking back, I wish I had. I understand that they need to heat the meat before serving it, but if you are advertising grilled chicken as an option, customers should be able to expect that chicken to remain a healthier choice. At the very least, customers should be told if their food is going to be heated in lard and given the opportunity to say no. For someone like me, the entire reason for ordering chicken instead of fatty meats is to avoid exactly that. If I wanted my chicken cooked in lard, I could have ordered something else. It was especially frustrating because we specifically chose this restaurant believing we were making a healthier choice. As for the tacos themselves, they were good. Unfortunately, I ended up taking the chicken out of the tacos and only ate about 1/3 of it because I didn't feel comfortable eating all of it after seeing it heated in lard. I hated wasting the food, but I'm trying to take my diet seriously for my health. I really hope Tacos America considers this. If you offer grilled chicken as a healthier option, please don't put it on a surface covered in lard without telling the customer. There may be people ordering chicken for medical or dietary reasons who cannot eat lard or added fats. A simple question or warning would have made a huge difference. The tacos were good, but unfortunately, the way the chicken was handled completely defeated the reason we chose them in the first place.
