Johnny's Garage is the real deal. We ordered takeout earlier this week and it was so good we had to come back in person a few days later. On that visit, we all ordered the Dirty South pizza, a burger with fries, and the mini corn dogs, and everything was just as impressive. It came out hot, crispy, and fresh, with plenty of their amazing sauces. Honestly, we were blown away. That experience alone would've been enough, but going in person sealed it. We were greeted right away by a super friendly staff, and our server was incredibly helpful. We started with the fried dough dip plate and then got the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. When we came back, my wife ordered the burger and fries again and it was dynamite all over again. Consistency like that says a lot. Everything came out quickly, tasted incredible, and the whole team was so accommodating and genuinely welcoming, creating a really family-friendly atmosphere. The vibe is awesome too. Laid-back, great music, plenty of space, and a really cool rock-and-roll garage aesthetic. You can tell the staff enjoys being there, which makes a huge difference. And I have to mention the drinks. The dirty sodas, especially the vanilla Coke, are dangerously good. The kind of thing you could absolutely get hooked on. And somehow, on top of all that, the prices are more than fair. Food: 4.5. Burgers were very good. The Orange Julius dirty soda was incredible. You get to keep the cup too! The fries were good but they did have a coating on them, which isn't my personal favorite. There were no pickles for the burgers on the menu. Also you want to ask for the sauce on the side as it's one of those sauces that you either love or hate. Ambiance: 4. The front door wasn't obvious. One we entered, it was unclear if we seat ourselves or if they seat us. We walked around and just chose a place to sit. The outdoor seating is nice. Concrete floors with the heavy plastic tarps over where full garage doors were. Lots of TVs. Stage for live music. Old car seats for barstools. Inside had about half as much space as outside. This all added up to a cool but nicely casual restaurant. Service: 3.5. The server was really nice and helpful, but disappeared for chunks of time. Not sure why, maybe short staffed. We had some time to spare before our dinner reservation at cane pazzo and Johnnys garage fit the bill! There's plenty of seats, wide bar, and outdoor area good for mingling and happy hourin'. I noticed a stage as well so this spot could sling some live music while you knock back your fuel! The decor is fitting for the theme and neat to see nostalgic memorabilia. We came here for lunch since we were in the area. The yeamans hall shopping center where this restaurant is pretty unrecognizable in a good way. The inside was pretty roomy and they covered the porch so it was pretty warm and comfortable to sit there. We ordered the vanilla milkshake and strawberry milkshake. Which I vote delicious for the vanilla milkshake. We also ordered the orange Julius , dirty soda and it was very refreshing and delicious. We ordered the pizza and this is the thin pizza. We also ordered the crispy brussel sprouts and general tso chicken wings and they both pretty good. We were pretty happy with the food and the milkshake and so did the kids. LOVE this place!! What a fun & unique concept. Whoever did the renovation from gas station to restaurant, did a fantastic job! I love that the "bar stools" are the old long car seats that feel more like a couch than a chair. My husband and I are from New England. I read an article that stated this place has what they are calling "northeast style" thin crust pizza that can be eaten hot or cold without losing its flavor integrity = curiosity immediately peaked! We cautiously ordered a cheese pizza to test the waters as other pizza we've had in the South labeled as related to the North, has been anything but! However, we were both instantly impressed with this pizza after the first bite! It does have that thin crust I recognize with excellent flavor. We're already looking forward to coming back! My kids picked this place out because they saw pictures of hamburgers. I knew nothing until I came in. Despite a full lot we immediate had a seat and saw there was seats to spare. Outdoor seating was nice and warm despite it being a bit of a chilly night. Decor is 50's gas station, kind of a hipster rockabilly thing. Honestly the menu wasn't my cup of tea, lots of fancied up stuff. My daughter ordered the corn puppies, and after asking what a "Meat Stick 3000" was I ordered that. All three of us had burgers and fries. Corn puppies turned out to be mini corn dogs and quite good, the Meat Stick 3000 is basically a patty of Greek spiced meat on top of fries with a creamy whipped feta and tzatziki sauce and salad veggies, and I really liked it! Burger was A+. Smash style, gooey cheese, decent bacon, and a sauce I can't quite describe but I liked. The fries were outstanding too, and in a rare feat actually seemed to get a little more crispy as they cooled off. The real tell was my kids. My daughter always just says "it's good" when I ask her about her food and her inflection tells you how good it is. My son usually just says "fine". My daughter we said "this is really good" and my son said "it's amazing". He also ate his entire hamburger... which I have never seen him do in one sitting before, and he has never eaten anything before the fries before. He even had a strawberry milkshake which he liked. Best of all was the price. I'm used to leaving these Charleston restaurants feeling like I was robbed but the price for a burger and fries here was right around Five Guys price. Everything was super reasonable! Menu also has a decent assortment of alcohol and dirty sodas, and some pizza. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Really liked our server, but I didn't remember her name and I didn't take a receipt (save a tree!) to look up later. My kids both said Johnny's Garage was one of the best places they have been too and I think they are onto something. Really neat spot! Newly opened and seems to be running well. The meat stick 2000 was my favorite and the fries were really crisp. The pies were good, though I did wish for a little bit more crisp toward the middle. Flavor was spot on though. They serve a good amount of rotating draft beers and the bar seemed quite cozy. Dim lighting was nice for a rainy day. The restaurant has a great vibe. Since they're still new, I'm sure some shifts around the decor and such will be made, but I did notice a small stage on the large patio which I assume will be used soon for live music. Looking forward to it! Staff were all friendly and accommodating. Lots of parking since it's next to a Piggly wiggly. Will definitely be back to try the sandwiches and more appetizers soon! Overall a good place to hang and grab finger food ! Plenty of seating in and outside with heaters if you are outside! Got seated and bartender/ server came and grab our order . Eventually it got pretty busy and we had to search for help. Seems like a small crew but I'm guessing it'll develop soon . Burger was good and love the buttery bun! Stumbled upon this place on a late Friday evening with a friend. I absolutely loved the garage vibe! The outdoor bar seating was very cool. The outdoor seating area was large with a stage and had heaters. The inside bar was also spacious with accessible restroom and a lounge area that was more private with tables. Televisions were indoors and outdoors. The staff were very friendly throughout our visit, very attentive in checking in with us. I ordered a non-alcoholic beer and the mini corn dogs, very delicious. Talk about a little gem. I love to support local businesses and this one takes the cake. Situated in Hanahan is the most unexpected restaurant. You enter into a patio area and as you go into the restaurant it's like stepping into a garage fixed with seats, gas pump, even a craftsman tool box cabinet in the bathroom. Ashley was my server and she was amazing. She let us know the specials and I settled for a burger and some fries. They have the GOOD RANCH. Decided to try one of Charlestons newest venues in Hanahan called Johnny's garage. The place is great with a great bar and a super nice patio area which is where I choose to eat. They have a large stage area there as well. The service was great and timely, and the food was brought to the table fast and piping hot. I loved their fries the best. They were light golden brown, crispy on the outside and tender inside the way quality fries should be. I highly recommend this place. I only gave it 4 stars because it was hard to distinguish which door you go into and didn't see handicap parking. But I will definitely be heading back soon. I love the interior and the atmosphere this place could bring. The decor is really fun & my favorite part was the van seating, super comfy. "Let's go to Hanahan!" That's not a cheer you hear from the foodie crowd of Charleston, SC very often. But let me tell you, Johnny's Garage may make something of itself here, next to the Piggly Wiggly. It's a beautifully done spot, with great food. Is it a place for a romantic evening with a new date? Listen bub, here's a pro tip -- any place with "garage" in the names probably not a great date spot. But if you're looking for a burger, or pie, and a place to dine as a family? Or to have a drink and watch the game with your friends? This is probably the best place to do that. It's worth driving past park circle, away from the stink of old beer, and to a place that has menu items like "Meat Stick 3000" which, is, well, a big slab of meat. With French fries, cucumbers, tomatoes, and what feels like wish bone Italian dressing and feta cheese. Served on a sheet tray. And... yeah... it was that good. There's plenty of room for the kids, too. The service is excellent and patient. So the family types near Oak Terrace Preserve have a quaint place to go after grabbing some groceries at the nearby Piggly Wiggly. The one problem you'll have taking your kids here are the sodas they serve. My youngest son is obsessed with the Orange Julius (which is not historically accurate to Lenox Mall circa 1994, but is still quite special). My oldest is obsessed with some coconut drink they have there. So much so that outings there have become sufficient bribes for chores, schoolwork or just sitting down and eating as a family for once. Which, as the divorced father of an 11 and 13 year old, sometimes is just the win I need. So: if you want to have a nice place to have a drink and eat a burger? The answer is Johnny's Garage. If you want to eat meat and French fries on a sheet tray? The answer is, well, it's Johnny's Garage. Restaurant is located in an old garage that has been converted into a bar-restaurant. kid and pet friendly The main restaurant is an open air covered patio. The bar seats are old car seats . Really cute concept. The have multiple Large screen tv fitted through the restaurant. Music playing in the background. Pets are welcomed inside. They have plenty of seating but was very busy on Friday night. They do have a stage inside the restaurant and have live music. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is well staffed. In the bar area they have what they call the lounge which is a separate seating area for larger parties. The food was good. The fried Brussels sprouts were delicious. The chicken, bacon and ranch sandwich was tasty. Large portions. Did not leave hungry. The adult espresso milk shake was ok running not thick like a milkshake. The flavor was ok but not my favorite. Overall it was a pleasant experience. They do not have a large menu but the seems very popular. I would return and give Johnny's another go. Johnny's Garage was hyped on Facebook for being the new go to pizza spot in Hanahan. Grabbed the pie with cheese and pepperoni. The undercarriage was a bit light, needed more time in the oven. They serve grande cheese, which is always good. The pie was mid to be honest. It wasn't a busy night so not sure if that was the standard. Grabbed the fried dough and added pizza sauce as the dip. That was the tastiest part of the meal. On the DP scale I gave it a 6.7 (no pun intended) Trever and Seth had the Holy Hog. From Trevor "Holy hog was mediocre at best. Their crust flavor is very good don't get me wrong, however I did not get a lot of flavor outside of the ricotta. The pepperoni was better however the I first time was there the pizza was significantly better. Both could have used more time in the oven and the sauce doesn't really stand out. I also got the wings which were amazing especially with a sprinkle of crushed red pepper. Wings-8.3/10 Holy hog-6.5/10 Pepperoni-7.1 (first time around 7.7)" Seth said, "The wings were great. On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at approximately 1300 hours I, Dante G., responded to Johnny's Garage located at 1526 Yeaman's Hall Road, which is located in the jurisdiction of the city of Hanahan, county of Berkeley, and state of South Carolina, in reference to a murder investigation. It seems in 2018 Aaron Korey and Dana Haines met their demise at the hand of Michael Myers at this location. Upon arrival, I parked in a nearby large parking lot and approached the business from the B-side. I entered into the outdoor seating area and moved to the hostess station, as I was directed to do so by a posted sign. I was met by a friendly hostess. I advised that I sought seating for one. She offered a seat at the bar, but I declined. She sat me at a nearby four top along a low wall that bisects the outdoor seating area. The location has changed significantly since 2018. Outdoor is somewhat misleading. It is a completely covered porch. I was promptly met with my served and he quickly returned with my drink order, a Coca-Cola. I reviewed the menu and decided on a Station Burger Double Block sans Shop Sauce (a mayo based condiment). I added lettuce, tomato, and bacon. As a side, I chose plain fries. After a refill on the Coke, my food arrived on a small drip pan and looked amazing. The fries were contained in the same type of salad bowl as I had when I was a kid. I added ketchup to the burger and took that first bite. It was amazing. I initially thought I had ordered too much burger, but realized how dumb that sounds. The bun had sufficient structural integrity to not fall apart while I ate. The meat was excellent. The fries were awesome. A nice, wavy and crunchy exterior and a soft warm inside. The general atmosphere is loud. Friends meeting friends, tables watching sports, just a general positive vibe. I finished my food and signaled for the check. About the murder investigation. Finally tried Johnny's Garage and really enjoyed it. We started off with the crispy brussels sprouts and they were delicious. I would honestly go back just for those. For our main course we went with the white pie (added bacon) which was good and my husband had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. He devoured it and talked about it the whole way home. We had seen this place and wanted to check it out. Fairly busy on a Sunday night but got seated quickly in the outdoor dining area. Temperature was just right but noted they've got large ceiling fans as well as outdoor heaters. Hubby got a burger and side salad which he enjoyed. He did say the garage sauce was like thousand island dressing. I got the meat stick 3000 and holy cow it was awesome! Pretty much a deconstructed gyro on top of a bed of crispy fries. WOW. Was craving a good burger and glad I tried this spot out! We got the pepperoni and jalapeno pizza with hot honey, and it was so good! My son enjoyed it, we all enjoyed it and pretty much ate it up as appetizers lol. We also got the burgers and it was pretty good too! it reminds me of Jaggers. The fries OMG. Don't let the photos fool you, they are super crispy!!! i prefer crispy fries over soggy fries, I think these fries are air fried or something because they're light and airy. The atmosphere is great and the service was excellent. This was a nice place to hav out for food and beer for sure, they had a bar in the inside.
