Single-handedly ruined my wedding day, and hands down the most UNPROFESSIONAL business (more of a scam, really) I had ever dealt with - ultimately ending in a limo that caught lots of smoke and endangering our 8 wedding guests, delaying our wedding ceremony, and no reimbursement for the Ubers that had to be additionally called. My 6-month NIGHTMARE with Johnny spans back to Oct '21, when I had first reached out to hire him for my roundtrip wedding transportation for 90+ people from Oceanside to Fallbrook. Over a call, we had finalized the day-of services - consisting of 3-4 limos for 10 hours. I made sure to ask for a written email/confirmation receipt before completing his request for the 50% deposit payment over Venmo (he does not accept credit cards). Post-payment, I never heard from him again, so I decided to check-in with him in December (6 weeks prior to my wedding) via email. When I called him, he mentioned that he had no idea what services that I was talking about and that he would have never committed to the 3-4 limos for 10 hours for that price. Puzzled, I told him that all of this was captured in our email receipt. When he checked and saw that this is indeed what he had committed to for that price, he said "I must've been drunk or out of my mind to have committed to that, but since it seems like I did, I will try my best." Based on his available fleet of 3 limos,1 bus, and 1 van, I put together a detailed shuttle schedule/assignment for his review. When he reviewed it, he called me again (note that he refuses to continue any correspondence via email due to the written trail). This is when he told me that his largest limo (15 pax Lincoln) was under repair and cannot guarantee that it will be available for the wedding day. As he may not be able to uphold his commitment, he asked me to go reach out to other vendors and that, if I was unable to find anyone, he would somehow be able to provide the transportation with the fleet that he has or borrow from his friends in the industry. Based on his recommendation, I ended up finding another vendor (#1 transportation vendor in SD area), who essentially saved my wedding and provided above and beyond the required services in literally half the cost of Johnny's. When I informed him that I was able to find another vendor to supplement his services and/or cancellation of the services, he said "I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet" (refusing to allow refund/cancellation) and later told me that his friend magically "cut him a good deal on his limo bus" that he could use for the day; however, given that he had been constantly providing inconsistent stories (e.g. changed his commitments around services/fleets 3x at this point), I asker him if it would be alright for us to proceed with just the 50% deposit that has been paid so far and with the 3-4 of his available vehicles. Without any response/confirmation from him after multiple follow ups, I went ahead and put together a proposed schedule based on 50% of services. He finally responded and we aligned on the final schedule of services (3 one-way limos) after multiple RUDE emails from him, including "I will agree with these terms as long as no more phone calls or e-mails." + "Please understand I know your paying money to another company after you made the agreement with me. I could have easily completed your transportation requests but you had no faith in me." As he had asked for no phone calls/communication from myself nor my fiance, I had enlisted a colleague of mine to help serve as the liaison, who also mentioned how terrible of a person Johnny was to work with (e.g. lack of responses/texts, making inappropriate and misogynistic comments about his customers). On the wedding day, the true NIGHTMRE unfolded. He showed up with 2 limos and 1 shuttle (vs. the 3 limos that he had promised). Not only that, 1 of the limos broke down and was smoking - in which my 8 wedding guests first smelled from inside the limo and realized that they could not proceed safely. When they urgently asked the driver to pull over, the driver said that everything was okay and they can keep going. My guests absolutely were HORRIFIED that the driver was refusing to pull over; they essentially got into a fight with her to pull over and eventually had to take a $106 Uber to the venue. Needless to say, our wedding ceremony had to be pushed back/delayed due to this. Post-wedding, we informed him of the situation and reached out to see he could at least reimburse us for the $106. He asked for a self-addressed envelope to mail a check; when we asked him to just Venmo it to us (as we had initially paid him), he went silent on us. After multiple follow ups, he has completely ghosted us to this day. In summary, PLEASE save yourself, your family, and event and find another vendor. Myself and my entire wedding of 120-guests do NOT recommend Johnny. read more

I want to start off by saying that Johnny Ray is probably not the typical vendor you may work with, and this may require a slight adjustment for you. But, this also means that he will give you more than you could hope for with other vendors (THANK YOU, JOHNNY!!) First, the advice: I highly recommend you write down the services and costs you agree to and send it over to him in the form of an informal contract. Chances are that by the time your event gets near, prices have gone up and you want a record of what you discussed and agreed to. A written reminder of your verbal agreement is key for both parties to track the deal you made. Next, I recommend writing out a VERY detailed schedule for the transportations you need and include notes about any specific or unusual trips within. This was instrumental for us since we had several vehicles making several different drop offs and pick-ups. Now, on to the good part. Johnny gave us an incredible deal that was absolutely unmatchable by other vendors--this was SO important in allowing us to budget the saved funds elsewhere. He also took the time to call several times before the wedding and even drive the routes in advance to make sure he understands exactly what we need and can make it happen. He rented a brand new limo before our event that was pristine and luxurious, in addition to the other beautiful vehicles in his fleet. His drivers were extremely experienced and capable, with one of them driving down a steep and windy driveway that even our guests were AMAZED he could do. Johnny also stood by in an EXTRA SUV (we did NOT pay for this or request this) in case additional rides were needed. It turns out that the shuttle was running behind in between drop-offs at one point because traffic was particularly bad at the time. Johnny came through on his own and scooped up additional guests to take them to the venue--he did not charge us a penny for this. I have no idea who else would give this kind of selfless and voluntary service. Johnny called me right before the wedding to assure me all was in place and that he and his team will do anything to make sure we don't have to worry about a thing and have the best event ever--they all delivered, above and beyond, and I can truly vouch for Johnny and company's love for the job and commitment to customer satisfaction. Johnny was there early on both accounts to make sure we didn't wait on him and were at our destination on time! We have been planning our Cruise for over a year. We got better rates flying out of Ontario then flying back to San Diego. We were gone for over 2 weeks yes during the start of the big Virus but we were going to do our best to stay clean and safe wash your hands and keep then away from your face. I called Johnny Rays and he gave me a decent rate but his service was impeccable. He said to go on line and put my times I requested and he got back to me right away then contacted me a week before trip was to start to confirm. You pay up front which I was a little leery. He came through with flying colors very professional and his transportation vehicle is the best so clean Mercedes. I highly recommend his service whether it is a trip to airport or maybe a day with family, could be a wedding could be a birthday party maybe with virus thing a day out to desert for fun you can high him for anything.
