This used to be my favorite restaurant to go to in Ohio.. but lately the food has not been up to par let alone has been on the pricier side. The servers just look annoyed as if they don't want to be there. That's already a bad sign. Large space with friendly service for a casual pub vibe. There's even a pool table and electronic darts! Fried pickles were perfectly crispy and pretzels had a nice crisp and chew! Onion rings were a tad dry but I'll take that over greasy! Sandwich and flatbread were solid. Drinks are such a great price! $7 for a solid cosmo! Other places that could be double the price! My husband and I grabbed some dinner here the other night and enjoyed the experience. This place is a pretty good dive bar overall. They have a pool table, which I appreciate since I love shooting pool over a good beer. Speaking of, they have a nice beer selection. In regards to food, the fries were the seasoned well and had a nice crispness. The pierogis were very tasty overall even though a bit more seasoning wouldn't have hurt. We stopped at Johnny J's Pub for a couple of beers while visiting Akron. The beers were cheap. $3.25 for a 22oz. mug! Tammy was an excellent bartender. Very friendly, very attentive. We did not try any of the food, so can't speak to that. The men's bathroom had a horrible odor. Not your usual "someone destroyed the bathroom" odor that eventually fades. Somehow I still decided to eat here. It has to be the strangest configuration of a bar that I have seen in a long time. The entire cooler is in the middle of the location blocking the view from all sides. There is a mish mash of bar stools, booths, and stools connected to the entire bar. Complete waste of space. Dirty is an understatement. One just needs to look at the pics to see why. There were cleaner places during my college years at OU back in the early 90s. Truly gross. Scarlily the food was just fine. Had wings which were cooked well and the Secret Sauce was good. Basically a spicy bbq. Went with wings since I figured they couldn't screw those up. Still wondering what the kitchen looks like. What you'd expect for a sports bar. Large space. Food is average across the board with no stand outs. Service is usually a bit slow due to staffing issues but staff is friendly. Would be nice if the high top chairs had backs. Not many local options in that area so this is one of the better choices. Vegetarian options are salads and I think a veggie burger. Double check about the appetizers if you're vegetarian because both the Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese have some sort of meat action going on that wasn't noted on the menu. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We chose to sit at the bar. Initially all was well. The bartender was friendly, the menu had tons of options and the prices were good. I ordered the fish and chips and my husband ordered the special of the day - brisket on top of Mac and cheese. I also got a salad. The salad arrived and was a good size with nice fresh leafy greens - not watered down iceberg lettuce. I was impressed. Then the bar began to fill a little and a party came and sat right next to us. These people were obviously regulars, calling the bartenders by name. They were drunk, and ordered shot after shot at 6 pm. They were yelling profanity and started chatting with another couple on the other side of us. The men were standing behind my stool, putting their hands on my chair and shaking it as they talked. We were too uncomfortable to say anything because these were big men who had obviously had too much to drink. Then our food came out. My husbands Mac and cheese had a horrible presentation. It looked like it had been thrown in a bowl, scooped out, and put back in. The side of the bowl was smeared with cheese and it looked messy. The food was ice cold in the middle - it was as if it had been in a cooler and not warmed up all the way when someone reheated it. My husband almost never complains but he asked if if could be heated up. The server immediately realized how bad it looked, took it back to the kitchen and brought it back - the exact same way- just warmed up for a minute in the microwave. Still in a dirty bowl. I asked for extra tartar sauce with my dinner. They brought it but charged me extra. After that, the bartender basically ignored us to serve these other louder patrons and we had to ask four or five times for refills of water and pop and our check. I think this place had potential but the clientele scared us off from coming back and the food should have been remade completely or removed from the bill. They knew better. Avoid this place unless you want reheated food and to possibly engage in a bar fight. read more

It's not the swankiest place but it deserves more stars than it has. They have cold beer on tap and the food is actually delicious. I ordered the buffalo dip flat bread and I loved it. My husband got The Italian sandwich and fries, he said he definitely order it again. The service was great and our waitress was super nice. They have multiple tv's and pool tables. So I ordered 45$ worth of food back in January. I love love their chicken Mac and cheese and get it everytime. Now I understand places are short staffed and always rushing but not wearing a hair net is unacceptable. If there are cooks not wearing hair nets then gross. I know things happen but I emailed them and told them my problem and they never even responded so I went to here. I am so mad I got hair in my favorite dish but maybe an apology and them to give me another meal. I can't ever call them no one picks up so whatever I guess just watch your food when you eat out. Nice atmosphere & friendly staff. Good stock of beers and spirits. The wine list is poor. Bar food is just ok; so if you're hungry for decent food, go somewhere else. The pierogi entree is actually scary. The Mrs Peirogi is in there somewhere under all the cheese and bacon bits, one bite and I took the rest home "for the dog". They burned the pita bread for my gyro. Waited forever for waitress to come back to come back. When we were done waitress comes back and I tell her about it, asked to speak to manager. Manager comes over and I tell her about burned pita bread and could not eat it. With a very cocky attitude, she says do you want another Gyro, I said no, just please take it off the bill. She walks off and a few minutes later she comes back and states she spoke to waitress and she said she came back several times and I never said anything. Refused to take it off the bill told manager I was never coming back. They take an attitude of making nothing right and could care less if you come back. read more

I was missing an order of macaroni bites, I called the store, and the response was "my manager said she bagged that herself and they were in there". This seems to be a common theme among recent reviews of this place - if the owners bothered to read any of them, they might have a chance to do something before they lose even more clientele. The food is still decent, but takes longer than ever to come out. Bar service is hit-or-miss; the wait staff--which used to be so efficient and accommodating--now seems inattentive and poorly-trained. This is a far cry from when this place first opened; at that time, I thought the staff was exemplary. Everything points to management that simply doesn't care, or has gotten complacent. This used to be our go to place for take out when the week was rough and we just needed a break. I'd say in the last 6 months we've ordered four or five times, they have been very sub par and given today's experience it's likely our last order. We ordered and were told, 20 minutes, arrived to pick up the order and we're told, someone else paid for it so we're redoing the receipt. Waited 30 minutes for the mistake to be fixed, received our order and took it home. I had Mile High Nacho's, I did ask for no tomatoes, but I got half stale chips piled high with about 3 tablespoons of Cheeze Sauce, about a half cup of diced chicken in God knows what kind of sauce, No Onions, No jalapenos, no Lettuce, just a pile of chips and a couple of glops of STUFF. My wife got a Patty Melt, the waffle fries were cold, stuck together and not very appetizing, her burger was overcooked, tasteless and tiny, way more bread than burger, but when you cook it to death, the burger does tend to shrink. Overall, adios to Johnny J's, now if you hire the people you had last year again, maybe we'll try again, but I doubt it. read more

The food itself was really good, but it took forever to come out and we were starving. It was crowded in there and we had to sit at a high top table which wasn't that comfortable. Last visit some guy behind the bar repremanded the bar backer about stuff not being stocked that wasn't his fault. The bar back then broke a dozen glasses under the bar infront of me and stormed off. The guy went running after him and another bartender asked me what happened. I then received overcooked food and greasy fries. Sat with a empty beer while they cleaned up the broken glass and told the story between themselves. Had to ask for silverware and a napkin. I go to the bar and ask to turn the jukebox on and they said the owner will not let them ever turn the jukebox on again and he will yell in their face if they turn it on. We came here last week to have the Reuben Bites (I had a mad craving for them). The night we were there the Indians were playing but NONE of the TVs were tuned to the game. We ordered draft beers and asked the server if they could turn on the Indians game. She told us that they would be happy to do so. We listened to the end of the game on the radio in the truck on our way home, they never put the game on the TV in the restaurant. You may be wondering why we didn't remind our server to turn on the game. We had no less than four (4) servers during our meal. We couldn't remember which of these vultures had promised to turn on the game. Although numerous servers are sometimes a good thing, the constant barrage of "How is everything?" "Did someone take your drink order?" "Would you like an appetizer?" "Are you ready for your dinners?" We were literally asked these questions by each of the 4 individuals who were annoyingly haunting the occupied tables. The beer selection was just okay; the food was sadly disappointing (way too much salt on the tater tots), the coveted Reuben Bites were soaked in grease. KENO? We never played. We were seated at a booth that had an obstructed view of the TV screen that was displaying KENO numbers. To top it off a beefy bouncer was stationed on a barstool next to the door as we exited the restaurant. I felt like I was back in college... I was surprised that a bouncer was needed here.
