He gave me a rate that was well outside of my research range. When I said to him "Hey this doesn't seem right, can you check it again" He said "I did everything I could and that is the best rate I could get, I do this for a living." I literally called 3 major banks and got 3 quotes that were all 1% lower than his "lowest rate" I told him I was moving on with another bank. He said "Well maybe I can talk to my manager to get a lower rate...I didn't know rates were so low." Get a second opinion when working with these guys... Slimy as hell.

Since we were first-time home buyers, she set up a pre-qualification meeting to get to know us better. During this time, she patiently explained and familiarized us with the different mortgage loans options available, how the loan approval process works, what forms and paperwork were necessary, and tips on how to improve our credit scores. She knew everything inside and out after working in the mortgage industry for nearly twenty years. Once the first "big day" arrived (placing an offer), Estela was available to us for any questions via the phone, email and text. She was always easily within reach. Since we were buying and requiring an FHA loan, we feared and dreaded the process with the idea that it would take forever with such little time before the closing date. Trent was the one helping us and he was OK, i found myself needing to reach out to them in order to find out things rather than being updated. Their website is also difficult to navigate. I was trying to setup online payments and people i spoke to in the office were not helpful. They also don't officially not accept bi-weekly payments, but don't cash the checks till the 1st so if you wanted to try and save on interest going that route, goodluck doing that will this company. Other than Trent, other people through the loan process were fine. I don't have another company to compare this to as this was my first complete experience through the process but I did have another broker our realtor recommended and we did get a chance to spend a little time with her. I must say I felt much better about that experience and it was unfortunate we could not process the transaction with her due limitations with the type of condo.

Wintrust allowed my escrowed homeowners insurance expire and didn't send a check until I called…read moreafter receiving a note from Wintrust saying that I had failed to renew my insurance. They collect escrow monthly then fail to renew and then turn around and send me a nasty threatening letter that I have failed to maintain insurance. Unreal incompetence and arrogance.

Wintrust allowed me to get the house I wanted. Dave McCune was a pleasure to work withread more
