As a military brat I saw different dentists for 20+ years, not by choice; saw some bad, as well as good. Dr. Turner was recommended to me by a friend, now more than 25 years ago, and he's fabulous. Just had my first crown done yesterday & he had pulled my charts/notes & showed me how 20+ years ago he'd noted to me (and I recall it) that the particular tooth was likely to need it one day. In all my years I've never had more pain than the numbing shot requires (a big issue for me) and can't be more pleased with all my experiences. He's not only very good, but very nice, and always a pleasure to talk with (particularly when I can't answer back). Additionally, prices are appropriate - per my insurance - and while cleaning staff have turned over some over the years, they've all been very nice and do a very good job as well. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Turner for at least 7 years now. A friend of mine recommended me to visit Dr. Turner and I am absolutely happy I listened! The scheduling is easy, super early morning appointments are available too, this way no time wasted and no need to skip job for the day, though he has a lot of clients and I recommend to call way in advance to make sure you get the spot. Tanya follows up to remind you about the upcoming appointment which is awesome since I always forget my appointment day or time. Dental procedures are always painless and efficient. My friends became patients here and I brought my parents for dental check ups and treatments. My father had a lot of dental problems and today is his last appointment. All of my cavities are taken care of now and I come back every 5-6 months for cleaning. I highly recommend Dr.Turner's office! read more

Dr. Turner has been my dentist for 10 years; he and his team are fantastic! I get great dental care, and everyone in the office is a friendly face remembering things we talked about in our lives 6 months prior. I get very useful advice to help me care for my teeth--no one ever tries to "sell" me on procedures or equipment I don't need. I'm always seen promptly and they move through with attention and efficiency to get me back out to my day. Tonya is great with scheduling, appointment reminders, making changes as I need, and submitting the paperwork to my insurance company promptly and accurately. The location is super easy to reach from the Foggy Bottom metro station. Afterwards you can hit the Whole Foods to tick off an errand, or if you're there from 3-7pm on Wednesdays there's a great farmer's market right next to the metro! read more

Dr.Turner and his entire team are the best! I've been going to him for several years, at the recommendation of a colleague, after having negative experiences with several dentists in the area. His treatment is always thorough putting the patient first and never jumping to conclusions until he is absolutely sure a certain treatment is needed - whether a crown, a root canal or an extraction. As good as it gets. He has incredible bedside manner, and he's a lot of fun to talk with. It takes the stress out of dental work because you feel comfortable. I feel like I'm able to comment on the quality of his work too, because I've been coming to him for 15+ years. Dr. Turner is my go-to dentist, and I can highly recommend him for that. He is very capable and kind, and the location is super-convenient by metro -- all of which you know from the other reviews. Here's what I have to add: on top of regular cleanings/exams, he is also able to handle nasty surprises. I recently I had a gum abscess (a very painful first for me). It hurt so bad that I would wake up in the middle of the night when pain meds had worn off. I was able to see him within 24 hours of calling in about this, and in one brief visit, he took care of it. He made the treatment the least painful possible and talked me through the whole thing. By the next day, the pain had dramatically decreased. By the day after that, I didn't even need an advil. I've been a patient of Dr. Turner's for over a decade and I've recommended him to friends and family repeatedly...and many of them are now patients of his too. When I moved to Richmond for a while years ago and found out I needed to get a root canal, I made a trip to DC to see Dr. Turner to get it done because I wanted to get it done with someone I trust. I recently helped my mom do the same when I told her I didn't fully trust the recommended procedure her dentist in Alexandria was suggesting. After one visit, she became a patient of Dr. Turner's too. I, like most, have never enjoyed going to the dentist, with the scraping, poking and drilling that happens seemingly inside your head. But from the first appointment I had with Dr. Turner and he regaled me with stories of his travels, mountain climbing stories and his time in Nepal and I was too wrapped up in the stories to pay much notice to the drilling of my filling...I started to genuinely look forward to visits to Dr. Turner's office. Dr. Turner is a very gentle soul and he calmly walks you through each process and procedure. He's very sensitive to making sure that I've always known what options I have to choose from, what they cost and he's consistently given me sound advice to let me make informed decisions. I couldn't ask for more from a care provider. Canelli the hygienist has also been great, and I credit her with giving the best response to a complaint about flossing that I've ever heard, when she said, "well, you certainly don't have to floss all of your teeth...just the ones you want to keep." That one stayed with me and I think of it every time I see the lonely floss sitting on my counter. Tanya has been very helpful and accommodating in both helping me find times to schedule appointments that fit around my work schedule and giving me a dutiful reminder call the day before my appointments to make sure I haven't forgotten. She's also very attentive at making sure the paperwork is filed with my insurance, which I really appreciate. I don't write a lot of reviews on Yelp, but this is a recommendation that I've given regularly to friends that are looking for a dentist, and one I thought worth sharing. read more

The entire team is fantastic. I never thought I would say this, but getting my teeth cleaned is actually a relaxing experience. Dr. Turner is as good as it gets in the field of dentistry. I am a D.C. native. My parents go to Dr. Turner, my siblings and I see him, and now my children are his patients. He practices the old fashioned way - by scheduling enough time with patients to thoughtfully and fulsomely address their needs. He would rather do this than cram as many appointments in to maximize insurance reimbursement. For after hours emergencies, he is available by cell or a service, and returns calls within minutes. He has opened his office to treat emergencies outside of regular business days/hours. His schedule runs like clockwork. Nothing falls through the cracks or gets lost in translation with his long-standing front office staff. Very low turnover in hygienists, maybe once every 7 years and all are top notch. He clearly enjoys his work and interacting with patients. You could not pay me to use another dentist for my family. read more
