She asked for a refund and for her account to be canceled. Once more, he said in a hurry that he would repay her and close her account. Sure enough, she got a bill notification in an email. She contacted once more to make sure her account was closed and to note that her refund had never been sent back. His assistant revealed that Jeff never cancelled her account and that no reimbursement was sent. Again, terrible customer service and very unprofessional employees.

Legally, a policy owner can cancel their policy at any time, for any reason. He REFUSED to cancel my insurance, citing he needed a letter of release of liability from my property manager - this is an illegal practice. After refusing to take a number of calls, I was able to speak with Terry. I explained that, as the insured, I have the legal right to cancel my renter's insurance and his only legal duty was to notify property management. Terry replied, "Listen, missy, you don't have to like my business practices. I am overriding your request to terminate renter's insurance". This agent actually stated that he was "overriding" my legal right to cancel renter's insurance?!?! Complaints have been filed with the California Department of Insurance, Better Business Bureau, and Progressive Direct at corporate level. My own property manager even agreed with me and said they did not understand why he was asking for these documents...and they also made a comment about his attitude! Nice to you when you sign up and pay but will become your biggest headache when you try to cancel.

We started with agent Tom H. in El Cerrito, up to until he closed his agency and retired. After Tom, we thought we would have a hard time finding an agent that will fit our busy & demanding lifestyle. Then Al Chen and his incredible staff came into the picture. The entire staff is proactive and is very responsive. Thank goodness we don't have to file many claims, but when we did; Al & his staff stepped up to the plate and delivered in a timely manner. I have worked personally and mostly with Assistant Office Manager, Maria. Maria is a superstar, and I hope she knows I totally appreciate her. I rarely work with the other staff (Deanna, Jenny, Michele), but when I do; I receive the same excellent service. Al has a very contagious personality. Every time I speak to him, I feel like I am talking to an old friend. When looking for an agent, you can count on Al and his awesome staff. Rest assured that they will meet your needs.
