Here you'll get flavorful melt-in-the-mouth 8oz fillet steaks, previously seen on a high-end restaurant plate, for just €7.45. Then there's the round mince (€6.45 per kg) and pork mince (2 kg for €9.95) that's the backbone of some seriously super chili. You'll get great craic along with it, the pros behind the counter here are warm, funny and friendly. On our last visit we ended up in a long conversation about the recent honeymoon of a newly married Market Butcher. If you can't make it to Rathcoole delivery service is available, but at €10 is geared towards large orders. Just off Henry street and taking up three huge shop fronts Buckley's is cornering the market on speciality, traditional and every day meats. There's rashers and loops of pudding, sides of beef and shoulders of lamb. Over the summer I was a religious weekly visitor, snapping up their chicken fillet deal of 10 for €9.99 (while steering well clear of that case of tripe, livers and hearts). Things can get busy during the day so expect to queue for a few minutes while the missus ahead of you gets her week's order of steak mince. As in any good butchers, the white-coated professionals here are happy to dispense a bit of butcherly advice on cooking your purchase or if it's right for the recipe you're planning on!

It's all local (from their farm), delicious, and delivered to you with a plethora of advice, commentary and gags from both the staff and the always-entertaining queue of people (if you want a slice of real Dublin life, stand in the queue on a Saturday morning and listen to the banter in there). I used to love Deerings butcher shop in Killiney Shopping Centre…read more There was the cutting and slicing of meat, the staff were great and helpful. There was the queuing for your Turkey and Ham at Christmas time watching all the worried faces of the other shoppers thinking 'have I remembered everything?'. This is all changed meat is laid out in counters and some choices of meat dishes. Then there is a nice lady on the till. It is clean and bright and a nice choice of sauces, jams, marmalades, marinades etc. It is a butcher shop but not as you remember it. It is more like a part of a supermarket. I would still go back.
