I needed a tree service to plant two ~7,000 pound palm trees in my backyard. A local tree nursery provided John's contact information to me. He came out to my house and provided me with an estimate to supervise the palm tree planting. I had contracted with a crane company to do the literal heavy lifting. Originally, the work was to be done in mid-December, but then we experienced the coldest day of 2015, so it had to be postponed until Spring. When warmer weather returned, I again coordinated with the crane company, organized a work crew, and scheduled John Hancock to be on site at my residence to supervise the palm tree planting. I have no experience planting trees, let alone relocating ~7,000 pound palm trees.
Three days prior to the scheduled planting date, John Hancock called to let me know that he couldn't be on-site to supervise the planting. Reason being was that one of his trucks broke down, everything had to be moved out one day, the squeeze had to be alleviated somewhere, and that relief was by not completing my job. These were his literal words. Fundamentally, it turned out that my three-hour job was "small potatoes", and it just wasn't going to be supported. I tried to play to his sense of ethical reasoning, but that was not present.
He left me in quite a predicament, and it was clear that he had no qualms about this. No remorse whatsoever! I nearly had to postpone all the other services again, but fortunately I was able to find a resource at Moon Valley. They were very courteous, responsive, and reasonably priced.
It isn't often that massive tree moving services are needed by individual residents. If you ever need this service, then my recommendation is to steer clear of the John Hancock Tree Relocation Specialists. They may support you if business is slow, or they may not. You don't want to be left "holding the tree" with little to no time to spare. read more
