AJ lightly curled and tousled my hair to pretty much exactly match the photo I'd brought him of the hairstyle I wanted for a wedding. I know this seems like a very simple thing to do for a professional but you would not believe the amount of times I've explained what I've wanted to a hairdresser and they've made all the right agreeing noises and then completely failed. I'm always too polite to say anything so pay and leave then go home and sob and try and re-do it...and usually make it worse. I don't like too much curl in my hair as I have such a round face. Seriously. My sister nicknamed me Moonface and it caught on pretty quickly! AJ tousled it just right and I skipped away a happy bunny. Had many-a-compliment that day on my hair. The decor is French and feminine with antique furniture and there was alternative music playing which was a nice change to other salons I've been in. The overall result was good, but not the greatest haircut I've ever had. However, the price is great, so it's a little bit of a trade off.

It had to be a present; this place really is so expensive I will never be able to go back on my own wallet. The look of the place is ultra swanky, all upstairs above the Duke Of York Square with lots of different rooms devoted to all the different niche areas of hair dressing. There seems to be just as many assistants as there are hairdressers and in addition there are people to bring you coffee, food, do your nails and generally smile encouragingly as your style takes shape. I liked the cut and with a colour it was completed in just under 3 hours which seems about average in this city. It's definitely one of the best hairdressing experiences on offer in the capital and I did feel like everything was 'being taken care of'. The staff are very friendly and Lucy my hairdresser is very good at what she does. They consult with you when you first arrive to what service you want doing and will discuss any changes u want from what u might normally do. You get a pot of tea and biscuits (or any other beverage you fancy) when you first get seated and then your beauty process begins! Go to Melanium next time you need pampering!
