We've lived in the area for about 8 years, and in that time we've only eaten here around five times. Unfortunately, two of those five visits have resulted in what appeared to be food poisoning. The first time was about five years ago, after which we didn't return for quite a long time. We decided to give the restaurant another try a couple of months ago and had a great experience, so we felt comfortable coming back again yesterday. We ordered the steak and lobster and even upgraded the steaks. My husband didn't want his lobster, so I ate both lobster tails, although I only had a very small amount of the steak. Around 3 a.m., I woke up extremely nauseous and then developed the same symptoms I experienced the first time I got sick here. The first incident, years ago, was after eating the salmon. I very rarely get sick from food and have only experienced food poisoning three times in my life. Unfortunately, two of those three times have been after eating at this restaurant, which is extremely concerning to me. I do want to mention that the servers and hosts have always been incredibly kind, attentive, and provide great service. My concern is specifically with the food and what may be happening in the kitchen. I hope management takes these complaints seriously and reviews their food handling, storage, cooking temperatures, and overall food-safety practices to help prevent foodborne illness. I really wanted to be able to enjoy this restaurant again, but after getting sick twice, I unfortunately don't feel comfortable returning. read more

We ended up here right in the middle of the busiest part of the day, and with the FIFA game on the place was absolutely packed and incredibly loud. Even with all that, we were seated surprisingly fast. Brooke was our waitress for the night. The staff were crazy busy but all over the place constantly asking how the food was or if we needed anything. The kitchen was on point too. Our food came out quickly, and despite the servers being completely slammed, they stayed attentive and checked on us throughout the meal. The real surprise was finding out Sundays are half-price steak day. We both ordered their biggest steak and paid about what you'd expect for a casual burger meal elsewhere. That's honestly hard to beat. The inside is a little dark, but who really cares when you're getting a $24 steak like that? Great value, great service, and we'll definitely be back. Haven't been here in a long time now I remember why. Disappointed in a few things, I always feel service is not up to par, the employees just aren't engaging enough more, robotic than anything . They don't bother to come back within 1 to 2 minutes at least to check and see how your food was as we issues with our order! Mediterranean wrap I should've asked for not to be grilled just doesn't taste right when it's grilled. It was all right otherwise! The 10 ounce burger was good, Just the bun was a little soft Everything kept falling out of it, but it was a good burger. The steak and lobster is a 8 ounce sirloin You can upgrade that if you'd like the lobster was a nice portion season nicely, however asked for a medium well steak came out more red inside than expected! Server never asked us about refills on drinks, had to flag her down when we had our issues with the food! Even though we live in the area unfortunately I don't think we'll return. I don't know why we don't eat here more than we do. We always have a great meal with good, friendly service. We also love the local neighborhood vibe. My husband really enjoyed his steak and lobster. They cooked his steak to a perfect medium and he said the lobster was buttery and delicious. He doesn't eat lobster often, so it was even better that he enjoyed it. I tried the Chicken Club and liked it a lot. I usually don't eat sandwiches for dinner and usually not club sandwiches at all because they fall apart on me. Glad I took a chance. The sandwich was really good and I was able to eat it without having to resort to using my knife and fork. My husband had a few bites too and liked it too. The cool thing about this place is that it's open 24hours so you never have to go hungry despite the time of day. And they have a lot of options on their menu! We stopped by quite late at night - maybe 3 or 4am and picked up some grub to go. There were people inside and at the bar and the bartender who helped us was a nice guy. We got the half rack of ribs and the Philly fries without the cheese. The ribs were super tender, they fell off the bone, but they were a little fatty tasting. The fries were pretty good but quite salty. Both meals made us feel pretty gross afterwards, probably because of the fatty and sodium content. I'd say the food here definitely tastes better than typical late-night food but it's nothing that will blow your socks off. read more

1/2 Late-Night Steak Perfection in Vegas After a brutal 16-hour workday, we were starving and craving steak around 2am--and John Cutter absolutely delivered. We called ahead and were happy to hear they're open 24/7, which already earns major points in this city. We started with a Dirty Shirley and hot tea with honey, then dove into the food. We came for the Thursday $18 Half Rack Ribs special. Unfortunately, it was not worth it. My wife had the Chicken Sandwich which was also not good. The chicken breast was poor quality and dry. It's obvious its a precooked/processed piece of chicken that they just simply heat up. My salad was old and soggy. Because it's Halloween season, I guess they figured tons of super-giant spiders on the wall would be appealing while eating. Friendly service, however both our cloth napkins were dirty when we arrived. Visited John Cutter on Wednesday for their dinner special of steak and lobster. We arrived at 5:30 and were lucky to obtain the last booth. All of the remaining tables were high top. Service was prompt by our server Brooke. My wife and I each ordered the special and upgraded to Filet Mignon Steak. The steak and lobster were 6 oz. each. Our side dish was the Cheesy Mashed Potatoes. I was skeptical of the food because of the very reasonable price steak and lobster $25 or upgrade to any streak cut for a total of $45. The food arrived in a short time and it was perfectly cooked. The lobster was tender and served with melted butter. The steaks were cooked medium rare and well done exactly as ordered and both were tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty. Brooke checked on us several times during dinner. The upgrade to the Filet Mignon was a great choice. We also signed up for the loyalty club and received a $40 discount on our bill. My two daughters (ages 9 and 12) each ordered one as well, and they really enjoyed the lobster. The steaks were just okay, not premium quality, but honestly, for the price, there's not much to complain about. The only downside was the wait. My husband and I finally had time for a date night after a long, hard week. We were in the area and my sister had recommended this restaurant several times, so we gave it a try. It's a small, quaint bar/tavern. We were greeted pleasantly and seated right away. We sat at a booth that had a very pretty chandelier hanging above us, TVs had the baseball game on...so far so good! Our waitress greeted us and asked if it was our first time there, we said yes, and she explained their specials , including a steak and lobster dinner for $25! We ordered two beers (they have an extensive selection, but they're only bottles, no draft) and we also ordered two appetizers...the potato wedges and the "2 soft pretzels". For our entree, we went with 2 of their specials, and asked for the steaks to be cooked medium well/well..just so there isn't any pink inside. Beers came out. Then the pretzels...when the server set the plate down, I felt embarrassed that my husband ordered them. They were the frozen "super pretzels" that you get at little league snack shacks. They basically microwaved them according to directions, slathered with butter and salt, and served them for $13! On their website they show a plate with 2 golden and crispy pretzels, not tan and rubbery. My husband was starving, so he let it go, and ate some until our entrees came out. The plate looked good! Decent sized steak that looked well seasoned and a small lobster tail. I gave the lobster tail to my husband as I don't like seafood, and cut into my steak. It seemed as if it was cooked to the right temperature, so I go to put the first bite in my mouth, and I smelled something odd. I thought perhaps it was the chilli oil they put on top, so I took the bite. It had no type of seasoning flavor, just a strange almost gamey taste. I put some salt on it and tried to take a few more bites, but I could tell that this was an old piece of meat that was spoiling. It had a sour smell and taste. Meanwhile, my husband cuts into his and it's way undercooked, and he asked the waitress for it to be cooked longer. I asked my husband if his steak had the same smell and he said no, it was just mine. When the waitress returned again with my husbands steak, I politely told her something was really off, maybe if she just wanted to smell it she would see instantly what I was talking about. I explained I wasn't boujee when it comes to steak, it doesn't need to be anything fancy, just not have spoiled. She said she would ask the manager what he could do. I'm grossed out at this point, embarrassed, and disappointed we couldn't have a simple dinner together. The waitress came back and told me the manager would take care of my steak but charge me for the lobster tail, since I gave it to my husband. I said ok reluctantly, thinking really? I didn't eat any dinner! When we got the bill, I was charged $16 for my dinner(the lobster tail). So essentially the manager took $9 dollars off of our bill for my spoiled steak dinner getting sent back. My husband did not eat his steak either. He was grossed out and even with them cooking it longer, it was still raw inside. To top it off, plastered all over the restaurant is a loyalty club you can join and "get $40 off of your bill TODAY" I went through all of the sign up steps, showed the waitress after receiving our check and she said I could only get $20 off, not the $40 that I was literally holding in my hands. That doesn't seem like loyalty to me...it was very misleading and gives you the taken advantage of feeling. The manager didn't come over to apologize for my dinner being foul, or hey sorry this was your first experience I hope we can make it right in the future, nothing. It's unfortunate and like I always say...word of mouth in this town can make you or break you. You have to treat everyone the way you would want your family to be treated, and you'll have so much success! As someone who was born and raised here in beautiful Las Vegas, it pains me to have to give a local business a bad review...but at the same time, these local businesses should have more pride and be held to the standards Las Vegas' dining scene is held to. read more

The vibe and atmosphere here at John Cutter is relaxing and social. The music also has a low laid back island, reggae-ish sound. The bar area is nice and the alcohol selection is pretty large. I brought my friends here from Houston and honestly, I am waiting to see how good the food is once it gets to our table. Its actually my first time here but Ive eaten at Als garage right next door and it was so delicious!! This spot should be just the same. Standby for an update... Okay, so, the update.... The salmon and asparagus was delicious. The caesar salad was just ok. Hannah, our server, was the best. Never going to come back here again after what occurred today. We were eating our meal and I noticed something inside the mason jar that the utensils were delivered in. DIRTY WATER! And it had this awful smell to it. Of course the damage was already done and we had ate our food with the utensils that were in the dirty water. The waitress goes over to the manager who's sitting playing on the machine at the bar, and instead of comping our meal, offering half off even, she sends out a big chocolate cake as if that's supposed to make up for it. So we ended up declining the cake because my partner cannot have sugar, and paid full price after what we endured. The manager never came over to apologize, her solution was sending out a cake. I was floored. As a manager, what kind of leadership is that? When we first arrived, the restaurant smelled overwhelmingly like fish. My husband is not a big fan of fish so he almost couldn't stay, but this scent faded as we stayed longer. Our server was super nice, she introduced herself as "80" like the number. She was a great server. She made good recommendations. Our food was really good. I don't eat meat so I chose two side items off of the menu. The cheesy potatoes and the brussels sprouts were both amazing. I appreciated how the server mentioned that the brussels sprouts were made with chili oils so she wanted to make sure it was Ok. My husband's wrap was also really tasty. He ordered a hazy IPA. John Cutter has the best cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had for flavor- I just had to take off one star because it seems like a little while back they started cutting back on the "fix'ns" inside the sandwich, making it less scrumptious and now more "bready" than what I used to get. Ah, the "good ol' days"...Their proprietary cheese sauce is plentiful and out of this world good, and the dressing they use for their Caesar Salad accompanying the sandwich (if you don't want fries) is delicious, too. I order a "full" rather than a "half" and it gets me two meals (trying to watch my weight just a bit!). Service has been great this year, a couple of years back it had become quite spotty. The lobster tail was overcooked in my opinion and didn't have much flavor, it did come with melted butter. We ordered fries which were really good crispy and light and my friend got a baked potato. Service was good. The place is somewhat small. I would say more like a bar environment. It was really loud, but the restaurant was completely filled. The first think that surprised me was that there was no beer on draft. My wife had a glass of cab and ordered the full Philly cheesesteak with a side salad. I had the carne asada plate. The food was great and had a very good flavor. The wife didn't realize she had substituted her fries for a salad so we ordered her a side of fries and I ordered another cup of house sauce that came with the carne asada plate. The fries came on a plate. They were steak fries and there was a lot of them. I never got my salsa or offered another beer or refill on my water. The waitress did comment about my Padres hat and how she was a cubs fan, maybe that's whyJK. The food was good and the restaurant was nice we will probably be back to try some steak or maybe the two lobsters tails for $35 plate. Over all our bill came out to about $75 and we had enough leftover for a lunch tomorrow. I think we will be back. read more

I lost my appetite before ordering. It was not busy and somehow it took awhile before they asked for my order. The food was delicious as usual but terrible service. It was only one other guest who entered after me. There were three separate guests in the restaurant and three servers. I don't understand how they felt this was acceptable. I hope it was just a bad day for the waiters but I hope they change. The ambiance was great as well but I was not happy and I took my food home to finish in the comfort of my own space. I was the coordinator of a large (party of 30) Dinner here at JC's. I always brag about this establishment and again they served up plates that made our mouths water. Yuri and Taylor (Tay-Tay) were superb! The service they provided to us, sitting outside, was nothing short of amazing...drinks, steaks, desserts, all were wonderful.
