What I don't appreciate is when medical practitioners get offended when you ask questions, or challenge theories when it comes to your own health. It is my body and my life, I think every patient should ask questions and challenge conventional theories. I have a thyroid issue. I am trying to find ways to heal it. I have been seeing Dr. Horsefield for maybe 5 years now, and have noticed passive aggressiveness before... but what I recently experienced is clearly unacceptable. I saw him for my regular annual appointment 3 months ago. My TSH levels were too high, so I got on some thyroid supplements and we retested about 6 weeks later. The results came in and the TSH levels were too low. I have since readjusted my medication and sent him an email politely asking if he could order the bloodwork to retest my levels so I can ensure i am now healthy and found the right balance. His response was callous. I have attached a photo with the passive aggressive response, where he makes it clear that he wont put the test in the system because he doesn't get paid for "answering emails, ordering tests, reviewing tests, communicating test results and maintenance of records" ..... REALLY? Aren't those tasks associated with being a doctor? I would be happy to pay him, for me it isn't about the money at all. In addition, clearly SOMEONE is getting paid when I order these lab tests because I'm charged thousands of dollars for them. All I need though is the bloodwork.... and he doesn't have availability for 2 months!?! I'm extremely disappointed that someone in the healthcare field is so much more concerned about their wallet than their patients health. Also if he wanted to charge me a processing fee that is fine, but his solution is clearly not in my best interest to wait 2 months and potentially do irreversible damage to my body.

Every now and then a doctor will have an off day, and you might not get their best side first. Baylor's doctors are phenomenal, from Dr. Perkins, to Dr. Sulapas and on to Dr.'s Sidani and Rondon I have NEVER been treated poorly here. Yes. I've been lectured for my BMI, I spend my whole day in the car or in an office, I know I'm out of shape. I was told I drink too much, for admitting that I have 9-12 on Friday night even though I don't drink the rest of the week... These people are healthcare professionals. What do you expect? I will use Baylor Family Medicine as long as I can, because they are a trustworthy establishment by well earned reputation.

I had an appointment at 9:30, so I left at 8:30, got there early, and expected to be seen at my appointment time. 30 minutes went by, and everybody else was being called, so I asked how far behind she was, and I was told it would be another hour or hour and a half, putting my appointment time from 930 to 11. Mind you I haven't had a coffee, I hadn't eaten, I was starting to feel lightheaded because of it, and agitated, because if I had an asked, they would've had me waiting there wasting my time. Quality of care is a zero for today. If you want me to respect your time and show up on time, you need to respect my time and see me on time, or put me with another provider who can take me as their patient because she's so far behind. If you know that a provider is running an hour to an hour and a half behind, you as the clinic need to modify so that patient can still be seen by another provider at their time. This was really frustrating, because I SPECIFICALLY made it CLEAR that I needed an early appointment, and I needed to be seen on time. Overall, I usually don't have an issue with Baylor, but this time they really could've done a better job.

But seeing them always put a smile on my face and make me feel at ease. Another thing that I really appreciate, is their app. Anytime I have questions, want to see my test results, need to set an appointment, or need referrals, I can do so in their app. It's very user friendly and they will get back to me within 24-48 business hours. On top of that, Dr. Maldonado is not the type who will push one type of treatment without being thorough with your check up. If you're looking for a general physician, make an appointment here and see if you've found yourself your GP. The amount they charge here also very reasonable!!! Mine was a simple physical that needed to be done prior to nursing school. My son was to be referred to speech therapy. Now, 2 months (January 12) after the appointments, I have received over $2,000 in bills from Kelsey, saying that insurance covered absolutely nothing. Not even the flu shot. The fact that insurance was provided prior to appointments, and it took 2 months to say that absolutely nothing was covered, is a scam, and Kelsey is working with the insurance companies to scam innocent women and children. Just trying to get the SIMPLE care they need. I'm so beyond disgusted I trusted my son's care and my care with Kelsey. It is a scam, it is a con, a 3-year-old now not going to get the services he needs, and a single mom in school is now out $3500 when I could have just never bought insurance and gone to a clinic for $300 for the physical. Absolutely disgusted with Kelsey and the insurance system they support. This has resulted in me discontinuing trying to get my son the speech therapy he desperately needs, and shows that Kelsey is all about hurting and harming children, rather than providing actual health care. I am so absolutely disgusted.

I have also been of a patient of NP Carol Manning. She & I go back even farther. I will always remember when I overheard Dr. K on the phone sticking up for me with a specialist. I probably would have been sent home if Dr. Knafo had not insisted that something was wrong because she knew me so well. And that I was a good patient. So she sent me for some tests that same day & I had to be hospitalized for a week. I had developed an infection from a procedure I had with that specialist. I even had to have surgery because the fever would not break. I also remember one of her doctors calling my father on a Saturday to inquire on how he was feeling. We had seen Dr. G. Loya the day before. I was impressed & touched because she was so sincere about his well being. I see Dr. K or Carol Manning every year for my well woman exam & for any health issues during the year. I have not ever had any problems with the office staff. At my last visit 2 weeks ago, I had a sinus issue, my wait time was 15 minutes, the entire visit took about 40 minutes by the time I was back to my car. I don't think that was bad. I'm not crazy about the parking though. I usually have to park in a lot for $5.00.

Although I am a patient of Dr. Knafo, I've only spoken to her 3 of the minimum 9 times I had appointments. The other visits I was seen by two other female doctors. Now this isn't a big issue if you are going for smaller concerns like check ups and well woman exams but I had a continuous stomach issue that the lack of consistency in visits very negatively effected. I ran the same tests multiple times and explained the same symptoms/reactions to the doctors each visit and we ran in circles. I understand this is a family practice and not a specialist, but at some point it's up to the doctors to admit they don't know and refer me to someone else. It took a year of this before I broke down crying and begged for them to refer me. I would like to commend Dr. Knafo on what she is TRYING to do. When I did get to meet with her she was very caring and serious about my mental health. ( I have anxiety and depression ) Although, I believe this effected her judgement a little too much, I often felt like she wouldn't take my other physical health concerns seriously until I started taking medication as she strongly urged for me to start taking lexipro whenever I saw her. I've been doing well with my mental health, and would often express to her the reason behind my being so wound up and on the verge of tears in her office is because I was a 19 year old college student battling a mystery issue and running the same tests every visit. Making appointments is easy, everything else over the phone is hit or miss depending on if they feel like taking your call at that time.
