Dr Barotz is a real find. She is the best of both worlds; a Cornell Vet school graduate and…read moreextremely knowledgeable in a Chinese medicine approach. She believes in both, each complimenting and supporting the other. That's what I wanted and need for my best friend and little boy, Trooper. On top of that, she is happy to work with a patients' regular Vet and studies their medical records thoroughly. She has a gentle, caring manner and spends the time to fully explain her analysis, opinions and reasons for her recommendations. Dr Barotz has a 360 degree approach and the education, knowledge and experience to carry it out. I am so very happy to have her at our side through what is a very tough time. My Trooper has liver cancer. Thanks to her, I have a much better understanding of how I can give Trooper's body more support and comfort, as well as other options I might have for his care. I wish I had known her when I first adopted Trooper 11 years ago, through sickness AND health. I think we can take better care of our little friends with her full approach.

This place couldn't have been nicer. Dr. Javier Diaz was absolutely wonderful, his staff were all freindly and well-informed. They took great care of our little Bandit, and us! Dr. Diaz explained everything that needed to be done, and gave us an estimate before beginning treatment. He even printed out a report when we were leaving with everything they did for our new addition. They detailed how to administer the meds, what our follow up would entail - including what they could do if initial treatment doesn't work. Our regular vet, who has seen every cat and dog we've had going back to when my husband was a kid, only sees patients a few hours a day. Dr. Diaz has full days, six days a week. I think we'll be taking our furry family to Elmsford from now on. Easy to get to, street parking was available (even in the snow today), and they really made us feel like our worries were important to them. Seriously check them out for your furry friends.

The front desk staff was pleasant and efficient. It's located in a busy area but there's plenty of metered parking. I had no problem getting a spot a 1/2 block away. You must realize that the current veterinarian is NOT connected to the previous veterinarian that was at this location. Highly recommended.

He treated my cat and he was okay for regular, routine care- shots, etc. However, when a health problem began to emerge, (continuous, steady weight loss from June - Dec. ) I was told my cat was just getting old, and everything was okay. Finally, I insisted on an ultrasound because I knew something was wrong. After the ultrasound, the vet did not phone me with the findings. I was told everything was okay by the vet staff-no cancer and the dr would phone the next day. I found out my cat had cancer that evening when a compounding pharmacy phoned me regarding a chemo drug(Chlorambucil) that has been prescribed, The next day, I waited to speak with the vet and after phoning 3 times he called back. I picked up ultrasound and prednisolone from the vet that night and was told to phone if I had any concerns when I began chemo treatment. My cat had an adverse reaction to drug so, as instructed, I called. The vet did not return my calls. We called for 6 days straight- no response. I think his staff did pass on calls. Meanwhile, I took my cat to animal speciality center in Yonkers as an emergency and was connected to a wonderful cancer care team. The original vet phoned me after 6 days, made all kinds of excuses for not phoning and after listening to his excuses, I told him he was fired Bottom line, the Saw mill vet is a terrible communicator and a very lazy vet in my opinion. Broken toe nail and regular care, okay, but anything thst requires extra care and an ounce of compassion, I don't think you'll find it here. I feel he was negligent on many levels: he didn't instruct how to handle the chemo agent (the oncologist was shocked at this) and he didn't communicate when a client had a very sick pet. You make your own choices but my suggestion is stay far away.

So besides needing eye drops for glaucoma and a cataract she required Prednisone. Well we all see these commercials for wonder drugs ( the wonder is why we take them with all the side effects) so even though the Prednisone gave my girl relief it slowly started to effect other systems. Last week in what appeared to be overnight she slowly stopped eating but only drank. That was a red flag. Took her to an emergency facility which was a nightmare. Four hours sitting around waiting for some diagnosis. Every so often someone would come out and give some empty info. Finally a vet came out and provided me with a 3 page plan with an estimate that sent me to the cardiologist. This where Zen Dog comes in. Based on the diagnosis and the plan with no light at the end we felt the best most humane course of action was to euthanize. Spoke with Dr. Ray., he could not have been more understanding and compassionate. He showed up at the house took the time to explain the process. Once comfortable with what was going to happen he started. Dr Ray gave us time to be with her and comfort her until the end. It was a very tough thing to deal with but she went with family around in her home and peacefully. If anyone who reads this is at that point with their beloved pet, Zen Dog is in my opinion a great comforting option

What was supposed to be a quick 30 min checkup, turned into HOURS of waiting in the lobby. 2) They wouldn't let me come back to be with my pet during the checkup. I expressed multiple times that I would like to be in the room with my pet when she gets her blood drawn and shots administered, but still I am told to wait in the lobby every time while they bring her back and she disappears and I don't hear from anyone until eventually they bring her back in the cage again, which is always soaked with pee because she got too scared and nervous. 3) They didn't give me the medication that I already paid for in my wellness plan, I had to ask for it. And they didn't say anything about accepting a fecal sample, which I also already paid for in my wellness plan, I had to ask about it. 4) The doctor doesn't come out to tell me any info. When I was allowed in the room with my pet in earlier years, a doctor would tell me her weight, tell me the status of her teeth/gums, update about her health status, etc. Now some random vet tech just hands her off to me with no info. The whole establishment and the team seem very disorganized and chaotic. It is not a place I want to trust with the life of my pet. *Third Banfield Pet location I've tried, and I've been disappointed by all of them. I really don't trust this company.
