Came for lunch. Waitress was delightful, smart, pretty, efficient. Ordered the Italian lunch special with Meatballs, sausage, pasta. Out of sausage? Came with a huge antipasto. Unfortunately the cold cuts tasted past their prime. Dressing was some jarred vinaigrette...no olive oil, or vinegar. The pasta was delicious. Cavatelli swimming in marinara. (also certain sauce came from a jar ) Meatballs??! Criminal. Hard shell on outside... obviously not dropped in sauce. Abysmal. ALSO tasted past their prime! Beautiful loaf of bread. I had never checked out Joey's 307 so today we decided to try it out for lunch. It wasn't busy so we had no problem getting a table. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Inside, it's pretty small but cozy. We got the rice balls as a starter and they were absolutely delicious. I'm pretty sure they use ricotta inside, which was genius. I got the fried bologna sandwich but put the long hots on the side, and it was still great. My friend got the Ciro sandwich and liked it as well. We both thought the fries were great, too. The prices really can't be beat, so there's honestly no reason to not try this place out! I'm looking forward to my next trip back! read more

We were visiting family in the area and stoped in on an April weekday evening for dinner. The dinning room is casual and it was about half full. There was a welcoming air to the place. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was high quality Italian fair. The garlic bread was served warm and replenished. We enjoyed their version of Utica greens as an appetizer. Amazing chef, Matt Grabski, from Joey's 307 on Mohawk Street in Utica, proved to be an excellent choice for a caterer for my step-daughter's beautiful wedding this weekend! My step-daughter is a chicken parm connoisseur, so she selected it for one of her wedding meal buffet entrées, and Matt's chicken parm received outstanding reviews!! He also provided a bountiful grazing table with a wide variety of choices, a marvelous chicken marsala entree, a delicious Italian sausage with peppers and onions entree, pasta with a choice of two delightful sauces (a red sauce or an Alfredo sauce), a beautiful vegetable medley, a fresh and crisp tossed salad, and tasty Italian dinner rolls. As if this was not perfect enough, he also prepared spectacular mini cannolis in a variety of flavors, which complimented the coffee bar he supplied. In addition, we had family members with food allergies and Matt was also able to make accommodations for them as well! We tried Joey's 307 based on a friends recommendation. Loved it. Probably should have had a reservation but didn't. Staff took care of us and got us seated. The food was really good and the service was on point. Noticed a US Marine flag out front and asked who the Marine was. The owner told us it was her daughter. BYOB wine, comfortable atmosphere, amazing food. My party tried the chicken parm, lobster creole, seafood risotto (my choice), linguini & clams, as well as the fresh pasta with red sauce and house-made meatballs. They started our table with garlic bread (amazing) and non alcoholic drinks. You have to bring your own wine if you want to drink - not a problem by any means if you want a great bottle (or three) without paying the markup at another bar/restaurant. The menu is creative and everything we had was fresh. I will say, the "classic" dishes - chicken parm, pasta w red sauce, linguine & clams - were the highlights of the menu. I ordered the seafood risotto and couldn't believe how good it was. More surprising was that the chicken parm next to me was somehow even better. Worth the stop. Amazing Food! Wonderful People! We had a family event at Joey's and were incredibly happy with the experience. All of the food, from the antipasto to the sliced prime rib, was outstanding. In particular, I enjoyed the baked ziti - excellent sauce with the pasta cooked perfectly al dente. And of course, you can't complain about the large portions, which is awesome so you can get some left overs to take home. In addition, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Matt the owner and chef does an amazing job! As a Utica native who has moved out of the area, it's nice to find a new place to look forward to visiting when I'm back in town. After so many rounds of bad luck to even eat at this place, I was finally able to make it. Ordered crab stuffed haddock and chicken parm. My fish dish came with a beautiful presentation. The Fish was cooked well, though the first bite without the stuffing tasted quite fishy. The stuffing was creamy with a tangy taste similar to blue cheese. Eating the fish with the crab stuffing was quite good. The rest of the dish unfortunately reduced the "points". The Risotto was under cooked with white part in it. You may argue it is the perfect crunchy style but grew up with rice, I think I know what uncooked rice tastes like. The vegetables tasted good but greasy, especially the broccoli - the whole dish actually sat in a pool of oily sauce. I dipped the fish in one side of the mixture which was actually good because it was lemony and broke into then rich flavor of the stuffing. Overall still a tasty dish. The "Free" Food - the bread and tomato pie (?) also tasted okay. Just the tomato pie came out like leftovers which made me wondering for a while - I do not quite eat tomato pies and the poor lighting made it harder to tell what it was. Overall good flavor with some comprises. However, I don't think we would put this on our list for future consideration. One reason is the service. The young girl served us was okay - not experienced but okay. One incident tonight was she came asking like all waitresses would do: "how is the food". I was honest as I listened to the "advice" provided by many people who commented in some Facebook groups: if there is anything issue, tell the people (manager) before posting complaints. Mine was not a complaint but just an answer to her question: the risotto was undercooked. She seemed to not prepared to receive an answer other than "good thank you" and said almost nothing and left. Looked like she approached the elder lady (not sure if she was an experienced waitress or "manager") and told her what happened (I'm not sure). But nothing happened, no words. Where do I start? First I must admit my diner was fine as was my husband's however the couple we were dining with both entrees were a disaster. He asked for shrimp and received chicken she asked for chicken and received something else it was a shit show trying to get what they actually asked for then the chef "owner" came out to confront and chastise our friend. He was arrogant and extremely rude and the had the audacity to charge her for two meals when the mistake was a kitchen or waitress error! We ordered desserts and never got our coffee! The guys decided not to make a scene to be the bigger people pay the bill and leave. My family gathered last evening, 8 of us and spent hours there. The food was so amazing! Chicken Parm: Best I've ever had and I'm 66 y.o. Chicken Francais was delish. Their tomato sauce and pasta is homemade....so fresh and served al dente...perfect! The service was great, very attentive to our large table needs!
