What a hidden gem right off the main road. The shop is clean, spacious, comfortable, and they have live music almost every evening! Ample parking with seats outside too :) The owner is so nice and he runs the shop alone. Free coffee and water is served as well which is a nice touch, considering most icecream shops we've been to don't. The ice cream itself is delicious. Rich and PACKED with toppings (as you can see in the pic). You can really tell that the owner does not skimp on ingredients, and really cares about what he's selling. Not to mention he gives generous portions as well, very reasonable prices for handmade delicious ice cream! Highly recommend the Cookie Monster if you're a chocolate fan, but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors! read more

Not much to add to the excellent comments below. I don't think that anyone mentioned the serving sizes... huge! which is nice. Also, the place is actually named after a racing grey hound, Joeys Ice! As a dog lover and sight hound fan in particular, I was impressed! We got lucky and were alone n the shop with Joey for quite a while. Had a great talk about the history and sadly the decline of dog racing. Another thing that no one really emphasized as much as deserved.... this place has a heavy bistro vibe. Between the decor, live music and laid back atmosphere it's almost like a 60's coffee house thing. You almost expect Hoyt Axton (greatest ever Okie singer song writer) or his cousin Arlo Guthrie to show up on open mic night. read more

Best Ice Cream in Altus, hands down. Joey Ice Cream opened up less than a week ago, and I am wholeheartedly impressed by their quality of ice cream, ambiance, and service. I've been there twice since, and have been equally impressed every time. All the ice cream is made by the owner in-house, which explains the high quality product. I've enjoyed the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, which was a spot-on description. My personal favorite was the Coconut, which contained ample bits of shredded coconut throughout. Overall, it was a happy surprise that I stumbled onto this treasure of an ice cream shop, and I'm sure they will become an Altus staple in time. read more

Wow, such an amazing ice cream place! Really spacious place and extremely great ice cream! I got the salted caramel and it was so smooth and silky! They had a great limited edition flavor called Frankenstein with chocolate, brownie and chocolate chips. Highly recommend. read more

Decided to give this a try rather than going to Braums as we normally do. We are so glad that we took the chance. Joeys has a relaxing and comfortable charm that is not only welcoming, but makes you want to stay and listen to the soft music. The hand crafted gelato and ice cream are second to none. Each creative flavor is hand crafted with love and it really shows in the product. This is definitely our family newest obsession. I tried the cherry cheese cake gelato and it's flavor is better than you would have expected. It's a perfect balance of sweet and creamy. We all hope that this place is here to stay! read more

On top of the normal flavors we all love, they also had several really creative and mouth-watering ones. I tried the oatmeal cream pie ice cream, and it was delicious, creamy, and well-made. Joey was really friendly and seemed genuinely happy to chat with me.
