I ordered a cord of "oak" firewood several months ago and what I got was almost all tanbark, which is NOT a real oak wood. After talking about this issue with Dave (the owner), nothing got resolved, even though he claimed to want me to be "happy". I asked him to take half of the bad wood back and replace it with true oak (black or valley oak), but he wouldn't do that. We've been burning this tan oak firewood now, all winter, and it's not the quality of real oak. It burns hot enough but it doesn't burn as long as oak, and much of it smokes and smells, especially recently. I can no longer recommend Big Dave's and there doesn't seem to be any firewood dealer now, in Paradise, that sells good quality oak firewood.
