From the moment I walked in, Mark put me at ease. He explained everything clear and straightforward, without any pressure or upselling of unnecessary repairs. What really stood out was how Mark treated other customers while I was there. He was just as friendly, helpful, and personable with everyone, which shows that this is their standard level of care--not just a one-off experience. The mechanic who worked on my car was amazing, too. I didn't catch his name, but he did an excellent job, and went above and beyond to make sure I was able to make an informed-decision. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic. My girlfriend and I dropped her car off Friday morning at Joe's Auto for a simple diagnostic on a check engine light. We heard nothing all day until about 20 minutes before closing, when they told us they would be keeping the car over the weekend--even though they are closed and unreachable on weekends. On Monday, they claimed they were already finishing repairs on the car. My girlfriend immediately told them she never authorized any work. At that point, the mechanic realized they had never actually contacted her for approval. They then told her it would be $3,700 to get the car back because the work had "already been done." When she refused to pay for unauthorized repairs, they began putting the old parts back on the car--again without permission. When she pushed back and mentioned involving authorities, they hung up on her. When she went to pick up the car the next day, it was no longer on the lot. Staff refused to tell her where it was. Only after police got involved did they agree to return the car free of charge--but with a catch. When we went back, they tried to force her to sign a document on a pin pad without showing it to her. After insisting on reading it, we saw it included language stating that Joe's Automotive is not responsible for any loss or damage to the vehicle. When she asked what would happen if she didn't sign, they said they would not release the car--and that storage fees would continue daily. We felt forced to sign just to get the car back. Afterward, we took the car to a trusted mechanic, who confirmed that work had in fact been done, including welding parts back on-contradicting what Joe's Auto later claimed to the police and to us. This experience involved unauthorized work, lack of communication, lack of accountability, rude staff and extremely questionable business practices. I strongly recommend avoiding this shop and going somewhere more reputable & honest. Would give 0 stars. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - BEWARE OF JOE'S AUTO CARE! THEY PUT MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE IN DANGER! I am writing this review to warn anyone considering taking their vehicle to Joe's Auto Care in Avondale - DO NOT DO IT! Their negligence, dishonesty, and lack of accountability have cost my family over $3,000 in repairs and nearly cost my daughter her life. Here's what happened: I took my car to Joe's Auto Care to replace a fuel pump. After they claimed the job was done, the gas gauge was not reading correctly, something I wasn't made aware of until my daughter ran out of gas on the highway. She was stranded in a dangerous situation that could have ended in tragedy. Imagine your child running out of gas at high speed on a busy highway - all because a mechanic didn't do their job correctly. When I called Joe's to explain what happened and demand that they fix their mistake, they showed zero empathy or concern for what could have happened to my daughter. Instead, they brushed it off and insisted that something else was causing the issue - a complete lie. I took my car to Sun Devil Auto for a second opinion, and they confirmed what I already knew: Joe's Auto completely botched the job. Not only did they install the fuel pump incorrectly, but both fuel pumps had to be replaced due to their negligence. Sun Devil told me that the work Joe's did was beyond substandard and that it should never have been allowed on the road. What's worse? When I tried to hold Joe's accountable, they resorted to lies and gaslighting. I filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General, and Joe's Auto is now lying to the state to cover their tracks. They're trying to blame me for taking the car to another shop, saying that I chose not to use their warranty - as if I'd trust them to touch my vehicle again after what they did! The truth is, I was treated terribly by Joe's Auto. I am a Black woman, and I genuinely believe I was treated poorly because of both my race and gender. They were dismissive, cold, and completely unprofessional in their interactions with me. To anyone reading this: Please, for your safety and your family's safety, stay far away from Joe's Auto Care. Their incompetence could cost someone their life. I wouldn't wish what my family went through on anyone, and I pray that no one else experiences the danger, stress, and financial hardship that we did because of this shop's negligence. Joe's Auto refuses to own their mistakes, refuses to issue refunds, and will do everything they can to shift the blame to you instead of taking responsibility for their actions. Does not honor 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on parts and labor. The AC Compressor they installed quit working close to the warranty's expiration date, so I took it in to be repaired. They charged me $310 to do a different repair to the AC and it quit working before I even got home. So, I had another shop check out the AC system and they found the compressor was leaking, so I took it back to Joes, and they said it's not leaking. Joes charged the system and sent me home without fixing the problem. Here's the big question for Joes - if AC is not leaking where did the Freon go? read more

Be care full with this shop. I took my daughters car to replace the intake manifold runner sensor. I wanted to take my own part and Mark refused. Frist clue. They want to install their part to raise the price on the part. After $750.00 later and the sloppy work they did was to leave the wiring from the senor lose. Oldest trick in the world. So you can bring it back again when check engine light comes on and another charge. Also, its ironic that they opened the shop next to a high school. They quoted me almost $1,300 to do alternator and serp belt, and after paying the 30 minutes in labor for diag fee they refused to give me a part# for the alternator they claimed I specifically needed which happened to be $670. I took my 2005 Sebring in for overheating issues. Mark had explained what they may have to do. Omar was the mechanic that checked it out. They called me the same day I took it in and told me that they did a block test, no head gasket leaks and no block leaks. Motor passed the test. Mark also explained to me that there was no fluid movement. Mark had suggested that the the water pump had failed. Mark was honest that it could be other problems and asked me if Omar should proceed and I said yes. So Omar proceeded with the repair and he found the water pump was damaged. He also replaced the thermostat assembly and the lower radiator hose and other miscellaneous items. After all the repairs were done the test drove the car and everything was okay before Mark called me and told me it was ready for pick up. Mark sent one of the guys to pick me up since I had no way to get there. Mark also explained other options if it couldn't of been repaired. Both Mark and Omar did a great job in help me out. Also they only had the car for a week Quick note: I had taken the car to another shop all they wanted to do is sell me a motor, they did not do a block test and they also did not mention that there was no fluid was moving. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change and brake flush. I dropped it off and told Mark the issues I was having with my brakes. They ran a diagnostic and let me know that my rotors needed to be changed. A service that I thought had been done with my brake change. They were able to stop the squeaking from my brakes and I couldn't be happier with the service. Will definitely choose this location again for any additional service. Seems every time we bring one of our cars in, it ends up costing over a thousand dollars. Brought my car in for a typical oil change. They said it needed pads and rotors! The brakes didn't make a sound and I was really surprised by this but had them do the work (over $1k again). One week later the right side is pulling when I step on the brake and it makes a grinding noise-yep!! Took it back to them. Oh no they said - nothing wrong with our brake job! I am an owner of foreign cars and was use to paying those exaggerated prices on Mainteance for MB and Jaguar and this last time I was told to replace my brakes was going to be 3600.00..... I was tired of being financially raped so I called them to ask if they work on foreign cars and just my luck they had mb's & Jags I'm their garage .... I was able to drop my car off and in about three hours my front and rear brakes were finished for about 1k..... this reminds me of auto shops back in the day when the neighborhood was all they cared about!! MECHANICS ARE THIEFS... had over 2k$ done on my car for simple work which took 2 days and ended up with BIGGER problems they stole a 500$ battery and replaced it with a CHEAP OLD ONE, they took custom stickers I had in the glove compartment, the elderly man in the front is rude and WILL over charge you absolutely horrible place!!! Couldn't make it back to joes auto because I was at Luke AFB, so I went to Firestone on base where it was found the oil filter was leaking due to the seal on it. Relayed this to joes auto at the time and was told by Patrick that I could come in for a refund. When I went to get the refund, he then said I would not be refunded bc of the miles driven between services.. Implying that I could've done something to cause the filter to leak, after Firestone confirmed it was the seal in the filter that was the issue. I asked Patrick for the general managers contact #, Jacob, who then informed me that Patrick had no authority to refund anything and that I would not be refunded, regardless of the faulty oil change that they provided. 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I took my truck in for some suspension issues. The techs and manager were respectful, but the work was sub par. They ended up replacing my upper control arm bushings, my driver side outer tie rod, and aligned the truck. The service took two days to complete which is not a problem. When it was finally time to pick up my truck I always check the work before driving off ...Thankfully I did because the bolts to the top hat of the strut were not tighten AT ALL on both sides. The moment I drove it I noticed a gnarly popping sound when turning sharper corners or pulling into a parking space. Bad, like it is binding. Now when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the left it will not naturally self correct anymore like it's stuck. On top of all of this, for some odd reason the tech adjusted only ONE of my coil overs so now the truck is almost an entire inch lower on one side. Extremely Disappointed in the work. Truck went into the shop better than it left. Do NOT take your vehicle to this shop! read more

They were supposed to do a maintenance check and a fluid change. The guy behind the counter said my car was good to go. I drive it barely 10 miles and my car starts smoking. My friend came to get me and he checked the oil, which we video taped, and it was bone dry. We had it towed back to Joe's and the guy said there was oil but it just wasn't showing up on the dipstick. Then he tells me that my alternator went out and it would be almost $900 to fix it. I had my friend go pick it up(there was no way I was going to let them touch my car again) and the front counter guy threw my key at my friend. The mechanics were shady, the pricing was so-so, and the vending machines still had the same candy bars in them from when they were first installed. What is the shelf like of a Payday, anyway? I came here because me and Ol' Mac went way back. So far back I'm not sure what started it. I think it had something to do with my dad saving his brother's life while they were in the war or something. To be honest I'd rather not know. My father once shook hands with President Bush. They are not good people. They are rude and scammers. I have never reviewed a place and I am in customer service so I don't believe in being a "Karen" however after todays experience a review is necessary to steer people away from this place. I made a google review yet when trying to reply I accidentally deleted it. Anyways, they're reply to my review was nothing by rude and hypocritical. They stated they are soooo educated and they deserve to scam people because of of their "intelligence" and "skills" yet they show the complete opposite of that. They started off the reply by asking me if "I was kidding" and that I was not the customer and "I knew nothing" just because I was not there. Little did they know I heard the whole conversation they had with my S/o when he went in on a quote and not only that, I do know a little about mechanics as I grew up with a mechanic in my household. They also stated I "expected professional quality at a backyard cash pocket price" and that they do not care if a "shadetree mechanic " had cheaper prices even tho they were our shadetree shop option and the places who quoted us less are bigger and more know mechanic corporations the only reason we went to look at the shop for the repair was because previously I had gone to fix my window for the same thing my s/o went for yet they only charged me $75 and this time around they tried charging my s/o almost $800. Not sure if it was because my s/o is a person of color but that's besides the point. They claim because the part is more expensive yet we saw they just tripled the price of the part and claimed it was going to take hours even tho it should not have taken more than an hour if they were such professionals they claim to be. They were just trying to get as much money out of us as they can. Never have I seen a company or place show such disrespect to their customers. Even after doing nothing they charged $80, would have been more but he is in the military so they gave him a discount. Which is another hypocritical thing on their part because they "wanted to show their military appreciation" yet they treat the people that serve this country like this? Instead of apologizing for our experience and just simply trying to explain the situation calmly and nicely they were extremely rude, defensive and claimed "I didn't understand" which again, I did lol. Which definitely proved my point of how unprofessional these people are. Many other reviews had the same experience and upon reading more reply's by joes auto, they are just extremely rude. No one should put up with this kind of experience. My car's battery was fairly new but dash said low and needed to be replaced. So called Joe's auto to see if alternator needed. Turned out to be simple fix about $10. Simple fix because they are very honest. Could have easily ripped me off but they don't work that way. So nice to see some businesses still have integrity(Patrick) and Chad, service person, explained all to me in terms I could understand.
