Dr. Goode has been my doctor for almost 30 years. He is honestly the best doctor I have ever had, and believe me, I have seen way too many doctors in the last 12-15 years. He is very caring and always digs until he finds the problem. He has sent me to the best specialists for all of my health needs. I will be so sad if he ever retires. I highly recommend him. He takes the time to get to know his patients and has been my kids' doctors throughout their lives. My only child who doesn't still see him as an adult is an hour away and has care in his town. When my children were young, he called on a Saturday to check on one of my kids. He has a great bedside manner and a very kind heart. As long as he is practicing, I plan to be his patient. Where do I even begin. I used to be a patient here- however, from a bad experience I am no longer seeing him. He is the only doctor that has made me leave his office in tears. I scheduled an appointment with him back in 2022 to go over a new diagnosis I had been given back in 2020. I had taken matters into my own hands because when I saw Dr. Goode about a random vertigo attack, he insisted it was an anxiety attack. I then went on my own and found several ENT's and eventually a Neurotologist who ordered me two MRI and CT scans and found me to have a disorder called Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence Disorder (SCDS)- mind you, this was confirmed by SEVERAL images of my skull. When I took this to Dr. Goode, he seemed to get angry that I didn't involve him in my care. I wonder why I didn't... he told me it was anxiety and wouldn't help me in the first place. He wouldn't even listen to what my diagnosis was and was STILL trying to blame it on anxiety and depression and seemed quite angry that he didn't even understand what my diagnosis was. He then took over the conversation and made it about antidepressants. He treated me like a medical student of his and said "I'll ask you a question I ask all my med students. How much do you think I get paid for prescribing medication to you?" And then proceeded to tell me he doesn't get paid to prescribe antidepressants. I was appalled at the conversation that I didn't even start. He is the one who took it to depression and anxiety after being upset he didn't understand what SCDS was. His ego is massive. I left in tears because after that whole discussion, he told me to go see a nutritionist because I'm overweight. Mind you I was 165 pounds and 5'3"... yes I'm a little overweight but why don't you keep kicking me while I'm down? Ever since I have not gone back to a primary care doctor. He ruined the entire experience for me. Funny enough before Covid I never had an issue with him but I was also skinner then so who knows. It took me a long time to write down my experience with him- BUT I thought it's important other people know what they are getting into before seeing this doctor. I strongly urge anyone considering Dr. Joel Goode as a primary care physician to think twice. My experience with him has been nothing short of frustrating, dismissive, and downright unprofessional. From the very beginning, I felt like I was being talked down to rather than treated like a partner in my own health care. Instead of addressing the concerns I brought forward, Dr. Goode seemed determined to steer every conversation in the direction he wanted, even when it was irrelevant. For example, with one of my medications for managing peripheral neuropathy , he repeatedly fixated on anxiety which happens to be one of the things it can be prescribed for-- but is something I didn't feel was a significant issue for me. Making me feel like my records are showing I have an anxiety issue that I don't. This pattern of diverting attention to irrelevant issues made it feel like he wasn't listening or caring about my actual concerns. It didn't help that every appointment seemed geared toward upselling unnecessary specialist visits and billable services. Instead of offering direct care or appropriate solutions, I was continuously pushed toward more appointments, tests, and procedures--many of which felt unnecessary. This relentless drive for revenue generation, rather than patient care, became glaringly obvious over time. The final blow came during my most recent visit. After again being dismissed and having my concerns overlooked, Dr. Goode became visibly frustrated when I tried to engage in meaningful conversation and clarify my needs. Without providing any new explanations or insights, he accused me of "not getting the point" and abruptly asked me to leave the appointment. It was one of the most rude and dismissive interactions I've ever experienced with any doctor, and forced me to seek out a new primary care provider--a process that is both time-consuming, stressful and very disruptive to my prescription regiment. To make matters worse, it's not just me who has had this experience. After realizing my frustrations weren't unique, I looked up other reviews, and this troubling behavior is a recurring theme . Many other patients have reported similar stories: constant upselling, irrelevant diagnoses, rude attitudes, dismissive and condescending behavior, and even a lack of adequate follow-through on essential care, like missing immunizations. Across the board, it seems the prevailing sentiment is clear: Dr. Goode is more interested in maintaining control and cranking out billable services than providing the patient-centered care people expect and deserve. I've now had to restart my search for a primary care physician, something that could have been avoided if I had known what I was walking into with Dr. Goode. Looking back, it's clear this was a pattern reflected in other public reviews long before my experience. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way. Beware of the adversarial attitude and dismissive treatment from Dr. Goode. He may seem qualified on paper, but the patient experience is another story entirely. As someone who has had PCPs who have messed up my care to the point of having further medical complications and an individual who has a family history of major issues, I am EXTREMELY particular as to whom I see regarding medical care. I don't care if an individual is male or female, etc. I just need them to be competent. We found Dr Goode when we relocated and I couldn't be happier. Dr Goode always takes care to remember my history and family history and follows up to ensure that my other doctors (gynecologists, etc) are following up the way they should (despite knowing that I will make sure they are due to my history). I appreciate that SO very much! When I was having major should issues and was seeing a less than stellar orthopedist, during my annual physical, Dr. Goode stated that I should NOT be in that much pain (I had been fighting with my current ortho) and he got me into someone who took care of me right away... turns out I DID need surgery and I was one of the most severe cases that new ortho had ever seen. Dr. Goode is thorough and knowledgable is in my opinion REALLY cares about his patients. In today's medical climate, most doctors are either burned out due to what insurance puts them through or doctors are more about the almighty dollar. Anytime my family is sick, our doctor (Goode) is never available or they refuse to provide care. Had Covid, with underlying other medical issues. Was turned away from being seen. Just today needed to be seen for a rash. You guessed it was turned away. That's just from August to December 2022. We've been seeing this gentleman for 8 to 9 years. Also he insisted I have a hysterectomy because I am anemic. That's just a few of the things I personally would not recommend this individual friendly, but has no sense of humor. Does listen, but bedside manner is terrible. Also, he splits his time with between two or three offices. But then again, many doctors do these days. read more

I only saw Dr. Goode because my regular doctor in the same practice is on maternity leave. What a mistake! Appointment was very rushed, did not check heart, ears, throat, etc like a doctor typically does at every appointment. I had an upcoming surgery scheduled until Dr. Goode felt it was not safe for me to go through with at this time and had me call my surgeon's office while there so that he could speak to them. While I do feel that Dr. Goode had my health in mind, it was the way in which he handled it that really bothered me. His bedside manner was very condescending and belittling. When on the phone with my surgeon's office he asked if he was speaking to a nurse and the person responded that they were a "medical assistant" and he said, "Eh, close enough, you can call yourself a nurse." I am considering switching practices entirely because of my experience at this appointment. read more

Dr. Goode is so far the best PCP I've ever had in my adult life. I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised by how attentive, personable, yet professional he was. This was my first visit with Dr. Goode (for asthma-related issues and annual checkup). The wait time was less than 5 minutes (which is very impressive in my opinion). As soon as Dr. Goode walked in, he introduced himself, and began to get to know me. He asked me many questions but didn't make me feel like he was just filling out a form. He was very attentive and seemed genuinely interested in learning more about me and my medical history. He was also very patient with me and didn't make me feel like he was in a rush to get to the next patient. He took the time to educate me about my asthma and he was very transparent about the different ways to manage it. I can't say I've ever had a doctor go to such great lengths to educate me about my asthma. I am extremely glad I found such a great doctor and I HIGHLY recommend him. read more

Dr. Joel Goode is my primary care doctor and he is personable, helpful and responsive. What makes this office 5 stars is their unprecedented office staff. I have never dealt with such friendly people before. Usually calling ANY doctor/medical office to request updates, records, scheduling an appointment, seeking a referral, etc. is a complete drag. NOT with Brushy Creek Family Physicians. All the gals in the office (especially Valerie) are on the ball and actually do what they say they are going to do. As I always say in my reviews, other folks have their own experience and I have mine. So this review is of what my experience was. Went to the doctor first time on the referral from a friend. It was the first visit to have him as my PCP (primary care physician). Well, nothing happened in the first visit. I shared some ailments, he nodded and gave me general advice on ailments and life. Ok !! I was like, well, at least refer to a specialist or if I should go see a specialist, and he was like, no need to go see a specialist, all of your problem are with you. Yes I understand I need to change my diet, i need to exercise more, blah blah. Believe me I am not in bad shape, medium or average body, say B or B-, but the doctor literally did NOT do anything during the visit. And guess what, for a physical, which i wanted in the first place, I was told to come again and book an appointment. So what I don't understand is, what was that first visit for? And guess what, my insurance was charged $320 out of which I have to pay $180. My question is for what? Because he told me that i should keep a diary of what I eat, so he can tell me I should exercise regularly and not sparingly...what a load of bs business he is running. So I am not going to him anymore and will find another pcp but folks that was my experience. May be he was good to others, but he was not good to me. May be he is a racist cuz I am a brown person, who knows. May be he is not. I am not alleging he is, I am just throwing ideas out there. Anyhow, i ain't going to him anymore. I feel lucky to have found him, as I basically chose him blind out of my providers in-network search engine. I now have to change my mind about this as shortly after leaving my poor review, Joel Goode called me personally to say that nothing should have been charged and was quite apologetic about the situation. I started seeing Dr. Goode with my first baby and we saw him until my daughter was 6 months old. I stopped seeing him because he was extremely rude to me and my family. He has no bedside manner and made me feel like a terrible mother because my daughter was having trouble gaining weight. I started going to a new doctor and found out that they didn't give my daughter the right immunizations and we had to play catch up at the new doctor. His staff was nice to me until I told them I was going to see another doctor and they suddenly turned rude. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone with children. read more

Doctor Goode is one of the best doctors in Texas. He is an award winning doctor who has been chief MD of Round Rock hospital and I have gotten to know him well through the years as he has served our entire family. He always listens, always explains patiently and works with me to help get me or my wife well no matter what the issue. All four of my children have seen him and he has been great with them from infancy through post college days. If you are ultra sensitive like the poster Erika below and don't want to hear the truth about your kids, probably need to go to another doctor because he tells the truth.
